This is FASCINATING. I had no idea. Are other European countries the same?

I was thinking that the Scandinavian countries would have the same setup and @lehawkeye and also @venitinmentem confirmed that for Denmark and Finland :) We are all roughly setup as social welfare states the same way, which is nice and comforting. It does mean that we generally tend to pay more taxes than people in countries that don’t, but honestly, I missed the safety of the social net when I was living abroad.

Anyway, I’ll gladly answer all questions you have :D
