Nadia Travis, or Agria, as she was known more commonly these days, was no stranger to the luxurious lifestyle of a noble. After all, no matter how hard she tried to forget about her past, there was still blue blood running in her veins. Despite the fact that she had willingly thrown that life and lifestyle away to start anew, she couldn’t completely forget about the times when she seemingly had everything.
“Are you kidding me?!” Agria cried out. Scrambling the basket where she and her roommate and her significant other Leia Rolando kept their hats, caps, beanies and scarves. It didn’t take long for Agria to lose what little patience she had when she couldn’t find what she was looking for.
Peeking her head from the bathroom, Leia let out a deep sigh. She knew that even if it came at the cost of her hair having to be messy and wet for a bit longer, it was best to intervene before her temperamental girlfriend would be the end of their clothing basket.
“Hey, cut it out,” Leia said, her tone and pitch just a bit higher so that she could hopefully get Agria’s attention before something would be set ablaze. “I mean, what’s the problem now?” Shifting her balance from leg to another, Leia quickly wrapped her loose towel around her head before placing her hands on her hips.
Agria was quick to anger, but in Leia’s company she was equally quick to return back to normal as well. It didn’t take much to get Agria back to her senses, with Leia’s soft and concerned voice working like magic on her. The initial sparks of her fire artes quickly faded away as the girl in red took a deep breath and turned to face the slightly taller girl.
“Well good morning to you too, sleepyhead,” Agria grinned. More often than not, it was Agria who had to be dragged out of their shared bed, but this morning, by some miracle, it had been her who had gotten up first. “The problem is that we’re poor, see?!” Agria shouted as she waved the basket around.
“H-Hey, calm down. I can’t see anything if you wave it like that,” Leia snorted. Grabbing a hold of both Agria’s hand and the basket, she finally got to see inside it and to calm Agria down as well. “So um… yes, we’re poor, but that’s because we just moved in together, and just started working. What does that have to do with how many caps we have?” Leia asked, slightly raising one of her eyebrows.
“Well, that’s not the problem,” Agria pointed out before pointing into the basket once again for Leia to take a closer look. “The problem is that it’s windy and snowy outside and we have only one scarf! How are we supposed to stay warm with one scarf? There are two of us here! TWO!”
Leia couldn’t exactly argue with the facts presented to her. Unfortunately, simply going to the shop for another one wasn’t an option, since the two of them had already spent their salary on other things.
“Well… why is it such a big problem?” Leia asked, pulling out the one scarf they had from the basket. It was a pretty long one, given to her by her mother when she had moved away to prepare her for winter. The more she looked at it, the more she began to think that it was almost comically large! It was big enough to wrap itself around her neck enough times to count as a scarf and as a hat if needed.
Agria pouted, not even bothering to ask any further questions, as she hoped that her displeased look would prompt Leia to continue on her own. Luckily for her, if anyone was good at reading Agria, it was her.
“What I mean is, we can share this? I mean, it’s huge for one thing and… well, it’s not like I don’t want people to see us together, you know?” Leia chuckled. In that short span of time, Leia had managed to get a hold of Agria’s hand and interlock their fingers together. It had been a rough few months for them. Finding a job, earning their living, and moving in together had all been rough, but they managed to get through it all. Agria still had a lot to learn when it came to overcoming her past traumas and experiences, but Leia was patient. Even if dealing with her temperament was hard at times, she wasn’t backing off. Instead, she took every opportunity she had to show to the world just how much she meant to her. And just like that, she had wrapped the big hand made scarf around them, and used it to pull the shorter girl right next to her.
“Well… I suppose this can work…” Agria mumbled, a faint blush slowly flaring on her freckled cheeks.
As Leia hugged her girlfriend, Agria had to look away to hide her amused grin; for little did she know the reason why Agria had actually woken up so early. It was a good thing that Leia, despite being a great many things, wasn’t blessed with the best memory, since the two of them definitely had more than one scarf before this day. Now the rest of them had been donated to children by a certain girl in red.
