Swordtember 2025 day 11- Acrimonious. Inspired by Leiomano knuckle dusters
The sword of the day is the leiomano.
This is a weapon from several Polynesian cultures, but especially the native people of Hawaii. It is similar to the Aztec macuahuitl, in that it consists of a paddle-shaped wooden club inset with small sharp pieces along the edge. The difference is that the sharp pieces in the leiomano consist of shark teeth, especially tiger shark teeth. Said teeth would often pull out of the weapon and remain lodged in a wound after a strike, to be replaced in the weapon later. Another difference from the macuahuitl is the manner in which the blades were attached; the macuahuitl has its obsidian pieces affixed with pitch, while the leiomano has its teeth sewn in place.
Leiomano [Mini Maw] got a suit upgrade! She is closer to her goal of becoming an octoweapon, and no longer being an inkling at all!
This upgrade, with how substantial it is, will take a while for her to adjust to. She now bears the X mark that the other weapons have, can’t stand completely upright very long, and can no longer have the suit removed as she is now fully integrated.
The smaller head tentacle she had fully fell off, and the remaining larger one has fallen apart slightly.
The next upgrade to her suit will be the last- but it’s a long way off.
upgrade includes: More armor, more overall strength, stronger ink jets.
Downsides: speech is heavily degraded. Can still speak, but full sentences are more uncommon. Actual face is nearly pure ink.
When you want to be more like the other octoweapons so you try to give yourself that X shaped mark the others have.
a rare glimpse of Leiomano outside of her Mini-maw armor. She has to take it off every once in a while so it can get repairs and upgrades, much to her displeasure.
It’s okay leio, soon the suit will just be part of you.
Part of her helmet broke and she got upset about being an inkling while waiting on someone to fix it for her.
