Happy birfday, @lemolunes! I hope all your birthday wishes come true. Have a Princess Tutu 5-sentence fic. :3 It’s kinda a feudal era/Inuyasha-inspired AU I’ve been thinking about, I hope you don’t mind.
She must be some kind of sea demon from the way she slips, sleek and graceful, through the lake, her wavy curls trailing and flowing like koi fins, her oceanic eyes catching the light of the afternoon sun; no, not quite a sea demon, he realizes as she stumbles onto the grass, her hair mussed like ruffled feathers---perhaps a swan, or more likely, a duck.
His hand clenches around the hilt of his katana---this demon slayer seldom takes any chances---but the demon girl disarms him with a sudden, bright smile and a tilt of her head. “No one visits my lake anymore,” she exclaims with a clumsy twirl---she is more elegant in the water, but just as charming, and he thinks perhaps she’s bewitched him.
The demon asks him of his travels, her eyes rippling with the waters of her lake---she tells him that her home is colder, tinged with miasma and darkness, and wishes with all her heart to seek out a remedy---and soon she asks, as she combs through her hair, her grin never wavering and her freckled cheeks lifting into a wide grin, “May I come with you---ahh---that is, if you let me, I will protect you, I promise!”
The demon slayer’s grip on his blade loosens and somehow finds it in himself to agree; silently, he vows to be the one to protect her.
