@lemonadesoda wrote an expansion based on The Arctic Cruise Oth!AU comics and i couldn’t help myself. It’s called Well-Adjusted.
27, 38 for Jam, B for Cedar and Luna
27. What causes them to feel dread?
Jam would lie about what causes him dread / he doesn’t experience it at all what a silly question, but anything related to him having to face Space or be in the same area genuinely makes him feel agitated
38. What memory do they revisit the most often?
Hm. Hard question. The memory he revisits the most would be when he first offered Jammy a sparring lesson because he pitied that she couldn’t land a hit on him except their first meeting. It’s the start of them knowing each other and learning about the other past what they already know.
B. What inspired you to create them?
When I first planned the Earth Vacation part of their story I wanted them to have a group to hang out with! The group was supposed to be Luna, Cedar, and two others that were supposed to befriend Jammy first but I dropped the last two because I couldn’t really figure out their dynamic with Jammy. I stuck to Cedar and Luna because they’re a set of actual twins who share an interest with the cosmic duo

The star eyes have already been asked before you but not yet answered.
•Started but scrapped fic?
Ghhhhhhh, many. But my most prominent recently is that Hunter and Gus Owl house post-season 2 finale fic. Heck, it's kinda close to being done. But after a while the stuff in it just got mixed up out of order and I didn't know what to cut and what to leave. A shame too, had some really great lines there, but ultimately I didn't like how the rest was going. Maybe someday.
Hmm, technically I dropped the original "Can't dare hope for more" ahit Prince fic cause I got more attached to "Unlawfully rebuilt" Nyakuza au, but it's less that I dropped it and more that I know I'm not gonna be working on it till I finish Unwilling accomplices, which is gonna take so long to finish, lol.
•What appears in my fics over and over again?
Characters losing the will to live, a "this is fine :)" attitude when nothing is fine, rule-follower having a crisis and committing crime, also apparently characters having weird complexes about usefulness due to the abuse they went through. Blorbo family tree I guess
Decided to draw a couple scenes from @lemonadesoda’s fic for @doodledrawsthings’s OTH! au... which means I wanted another excuse to draw drunk snatcher :)
Sage: 25, 27, 37, 39, 62
25: What is their biggest flaw?
How easily they trust. That doesn’t sound like a flaw, not really, but when most people don’t like you because you’re the Weird Kid who hangs out in the swamp all day, which is a place people a) can’t go usually and b) is Incredibly Dangerous... well... people don’t tend to trust you back that easily. I’ll get back to that one later
But yeah. Sage trusts people really easily and it opens them up for... well, people to take advantage of that. It’s not (entirely) bad but, y’know. At the very least, prior to Vanessa’s ice tantrum, it was the main thing that caused them grief.
27: What is their biggest strength?
Their resilience! It takes a lot of strength to get hurt over and over by people meaning poorly to bounce back and try again, over and over again. Sage is really resilient, far past the point most people would have given up. Maybe it’s because they spend so much time in the swamp (and there’s some magical associations with Subcon forest spirits and people’s personal magic that I want to get into but haven’t made a post about yet I promise I will eventually. That or just ask me and prompt me to do it because I want to talk about it I just haven’t yet) and like... the swamp is surprisingly adaptable. It’s constantly on fire, it’s wetlands, and it’s got some startling biodiversity considering the fire. (I live nowhere near a swamp so I had to do a lot of research considering Sage’s swamp connection and while I personally consider it to be a deathtrap I can admire how cool they are)
37: How easy is it for them to say “I love you?” Do they say it without meaning it?
It’s... I’d say about moderately difficult. Again, they’ve kind of... had not-great experiences with people in their own age group (hence why they hang out with their mom and her friends (and particularly Lukas) more often than not, if they’re not on their own in the swamp) but when they say it they mean it. They typically say it through actions and time, but they say it and they mean it.
39: What does their happily ever after look like?
Honestly? A quiet life with people who love them. They don’t really need much. Just... yeah. love and care and connection. Not too much to say on this one, honestly, but it makes me happy to think about them just... living their best life in the woods with their messy found family.
62: Have they ever been betrayed? How did it affect their ability to trust others?
Just... casual ignorance and turning-away of their attempts at friend-making. People don’t trust them, because they’re swamp chosen, and well... the swamp is weird, and scary, and the spirits won’t even try and trick you they’ll just kill you outright, and it’s haunted by the spirits of people who died in the swamp, and like... Sage is able to walk around in the swamp unhindered (helped, even, though they wouldn’t know it) and like... people don’t Trust that.
People don’t really trust Sage, then, and sometimes people have been outright antagonistic about it. They haven’t really had anyone worm their way into their (easily given) trust and turn around and tear them apart from the inside, though. It likely would have happened if they had gotten older, but... well, everyone’s dead now so.
Sorry this took a bit something came up in the middle of my writing this!
👉❗🔎
Thank you and sorry it took long to answer.
👉 a WIP i’d like to try and finish next year
Well, all of them. Since I just started writing in general, I have begun to experience what I dubbed the "rapid beginners improvement syndrome", so I find myself constantly editing and rewriting parts of my wips that I had previously deemed finished. All of them are from the six month old but not yet released Ahit Prince au, for those of you not familiar. In terms of how many I have, I got four written but still in the mild or heavy editing stage, and an idea for a fifth one with some scenes already outlined. One of them is obligatory Vanessa being creepy and delusional, one is about the first day of freedom, one is about adjustment but told in the perspective of someone who is not the Prince, and the fourth one is some nice hurt and comfort, also obligatory. The fifth wip is too spoilery to even mention (secret story arc *insert eyes emoji*) but I'll tell you this, we're gonna be exploring an interesting dynamic, but yeah that's it for now.
❗️a particularly ambitious piece
Well, in terms of every drawing I ever made, I'd have to say my poster/banner for my Pokemon self insert au, in part due to the multitude of characters I had to draw for it.
But I do have these two drawings for my above mentioned ahit au that I did months after the poster, meaning my art has improved significantly since then. I went and experimented a lot with shading and lighting on that one. For some reason my inner edgelord went wild there so both of those drawings are from the first chapter, and I have another detailed angsty drawing depicting a flashback mixed in with the conclusion of that chapter. I guess those moments had the most interesting and/or intense settings so I chose them to spill all my art skills on. Hoping to draw a detailed drawing of the conclusion of the main story of the au so I can have some happy detailed stuff too.
🔎 a detail i’m really proud of
In terms of pure skill, I'm really proud of some of the metal shading and detailed lighting I did on the afformentioned ahit drawings. Also this nice moon I drew for one of my ambitious pieces, here it is with spoilers cropped.
In terms of what the drawing tells us, one of the angsty drawings has a nice detail that's gonna make you go "Wait a minute…" and one of the drawings I have yet to work on will have foreshadowing with a super late payoff.
My Pokemon drawing has Zorua (the fox pokemon) looking behind itself in surprise, at N, and Dora's (my self insert) Serperior is holding her hand. I really liked those two details.
Again, thanks for the questions and I hope my answers were satisfactory.
I'm not sure if you talked about this before, but I was curious if you had any thoughts on what a Pale King boss fight would be like
I have actually thought about this, since I ran a PK RP blog for a while and that involved thinking more strictly about what he’s capable of.
My personal headcanon for PK wielding a weapon is that he’d use long, thin spears/lances like the ones you find cluttered around Kingdom’s Edge or the Howling Cliffs, except in pristine condition and pure white.
Does not walk around the area, relies on teleportation exclusively to reposition and mostly sticks to one spot on the map if he’s not using an attack that forces him to move. But he tends to plant himself a good ways away from you and then you better be ready for a platforming nightmare. His attacks do one mask of damage only; in some ways, he’s easier than the Radiance but he is just a certified pain in the ass to not get hit by because he makes patterns that cover most of the stage.
Basically you have to hop to the rhythm he sets in order to navigate the stage and get those hits in. For all that, though, he’d have relatively low health for a boss.
You can’t just park and hit him a bunch once you get to him though- I feel like he’d have a riposte attack similar to Lace’s where if he can catch you close to him, he can pin you in place and launch an abnormally punishing attack.
His spell attacks would have a distinct similarity to the Pure Vessel fight’s, but he would use them in different ways or different contexts.
The “physical tools” and techniques he uses are all inorganic and gleaming steel. Blades, spikes, and saws. If it’s part of his attack pattern it can, and will cut you. Lots of things that have rotating movement or branch outward from the point of impact. I think there’d be a certain implication to all of his attacks and weapons where they invoke themes of punishment, and, also, a certain surgical air- so lots of sharp weapons, lots of spikes.
Comes across very… unconcerned the entire time. His combat grunts and such are close to his speaking tone. Even his gasps when he staggers are fairly quiet and he immediately covers his face for the duration of the stagger. Sorry, you’re not going to get him to Make An Expression.
On defeat he just sorta lies there for a moment and then picks himself up and gives his post-battle dialogue exclusively with his back to Ghost.
Battle theme is something very bleak, shimmery, and peculiar, does not really sound like fight music. Like him, his theme is basically refusing to get worked up, at all, whether or not someone is kicking his ass and/or trying to kill him.
If I was hard-pressed to actually slot this somewhere into the game, I feel like he’d exclusively be a dream boss, where you have to dream nail his body, but that’s only available after getting the Void Heart- if you just have the kingsoul or his half of it the dreamcatchers won’t show up. That might be mean to exclusively put him at the end of the White Palace, so I’d probably throw, like. a bench in there you can use to recover.
In which case his post-battle dialogue would mostly just be he’d really love to know why you aren’t letting him stay dead. Stop poking around his mind. Nothing good can possibly come of it.
