Today in 1942, the U.S. widens the Lend-Lease program to include military aid to the Soviet Union. By 1945, Moscow receives 400,000 jeeps & trucks; 14,000 planes; 13,000 tanks; and 15 million boots. The aid totals $11.3 billion (equivalent of $180 billion in today's dollars).
