This track is just absolutely gorgeous, I had to go and check whether it was even the same singer as the previous one because here she just goes all out on getting that perfectly mysterious tone on the chorus, not to mention the entire song hits as many of my buzzwords as it possibly can fit. It’s interesting that the song can sound so entirely different depending on who sings it, the only version on youtube is, I’m assuming, the one from the first edition of the album. I think it does fit the image of the characters a bit better with that soft voice, but it doesn’t hit the absolute home run that the singer in the second edition does where it has a real opera feel to it and just feels like the most grandiose thing ever. Do like the youtube comment that says this could’ve been an umineko track, this could totally sound during one of those turning points near the end where Battler goes from crying to recovering hope. Also if you ever feel like reading the whole story for this album (japanese only) I warn you: it’s fucking huge, with over 30 chapters lol. Back at it again with the good folks from the circle Rigël Theatre. These folks focus mostly on instrumental albums with a very neo pagan folk/ethnic style, but with a lingering chu2 soul that caters to my kind. This album is huge, spanning 13 tracks (in it’s second edition), but fortunately for my workload there’s only 2 vocal tracks, the other one is fucking mind blowing and this one, this one’s pretty cool too, great mood setter for the album.
I really like that despite being mostly instrumental, if you go on their website you can see profiles for every character, with not only their life story but also minutia such as what is it they enjoy. With some bands like sound horizon the music feels like it’s actually set in a massive world with Things actually going on, but with some other bands like Ariabl’eyes the characters often feel like merely props for the storytelling, often not even having names(with the rozenkreuz saga being the exception, and coincidentally their most popular work). Not that there’s anything wrong with the story itself being just a prop for the aesthetics and a convenient vehicle for creative lyrics. I’ll be real, I don’t care that much for the story (lol) but it’s just so friggin cool to see passionate projects taken seriously like this. If there’s anything to criticize about these folks is that despite having a functioning bandcamp this particular album isn’t in there, their selection is actually very small. What is it about digital sales that makes the bands I like run away from it like the plague? Anyway, lyrics down below the cut.
Also holy shit I just checked their twitter and what’s the very first account that they ever followed? It’s fucking Eurovision. They are BASED as fuck I tell you.
