I just splurged at Donna and Alan’s art shop based in Lennoxtown. They are a local arts goods business, I was almost ordering stock from a big online brand and realised I have meant to visit their shop. Today I arrived. It’s awesome. It’s a cup of cocoa in hand I strolled leisurely through the aisles squealing as I went. Suffice to say I blew my wallet up with some yummy goods. Photo from a recent press event to celebrate the #conservation work by Hall Conservation on the #Kirkintilloch and #Campsie Parish War Memorials. This photo shows the Campsie memorial. The war memorials were returned to their former glory thanks to a partnership between the Centenary Memorials Restoration Fund and the East Dunbartonshire Council. While working on the memorial, it was discovered that there had originally been gold leaf work which had gradually disappeared over the years. Hall Conservation reinstated the gold leaf work so that the memorial now more closely resembles how it would have looked when unveiled in 1925. Local Councillor, Stewart MacDonald said "This work has dramatically improved these two war memorials ensuring that they are fitting tributes." #warmemorials #restoration #WWI #firstworldwar #firstworldwarmemorial #lennoxtown (at Campsie Parish Church)
