Should I play disco elysium or is it one of those games where the art is a lot different than the game. Like breaking bad

oh man tough q. to start disco elysium is THE game to me. it sailed along my synapses like it was made for my mind while still rewiring every connection in the old noggin. + the general culture around it on tumblr i’d say does a fair job showing off parts of the game-- it really is hilarious-- it is like breaking bad in that the game is in some ways really tragic and deals with a lot of heavy stuff.

if you like the humor tumblr’s expressed to u + are also interested in a game which talks a lot about politics (from a leftist perspective, but which also deals with fascism and neoliberalism and the trappings of both those ideologies inc racism misogyny classism, colonization, violence, unionbusting etc), drug addiction, cops, depression (+ suicide), and some other heavy topics from an insightful point of view, i’d totally reccomend de! but it’s not a lighthearted game at its core

20: A song that has many meanings to you communist daughter- neutral milk hotel. like the song has a handful of meanings already just point blank there in the lyrics (someone said the lyrics about semen staining the mountaintops was abt androcentricism v the conventional feminine portrayal of mother earth and it rly stuck w me) but also for whatever reason it stuck so hard in my mind that it's scraped up a bunch of other irrational personal meanings.

11: A song that you never get tired of the ocean- against me! is something that can be so personal and so beautiful and hold in it everything i need for an evening. listening to it rn and its going to cure all thats wrong in my head. it has drums it has transgenderism it has a deep longing and it has something there that is so innately peaceful it always does something deeply important for me

5: A song that needs to be played LOUD answered here but also oh man bum- kraus. you can't turn it up too much at the beginning but maybe keep the whole song a degree or two louder than usual. 🤯🤯

alright this is maybe a weird answer but wayside/back in time by gillian welch hands down. you listen to it straight and it's like ah ok this is some folk country music sure. but then you have to listen to it turned up all the way driving on the freeway back from dropping your friend off late and night and it cures every ailment known to man. alternatively if i were a carpenter (the joan baez cover) for the same reason
