Summary: What if Leon S. Kennedy’s biceps looked way too tasty like tasty enough to genuinely bite? And more importantly… would Leon actually let you do it?
The apartment was quiet except for the faint clicking of keys from Leon's laptop, the occasional creak of his chair whenever he shifted in it, and the tired sighs escaping him every few minutes.
Which was exactly why–you should have been focused on literally anything else. Like your own work.
Instead, you were staring at Leon’s arms.
Okay, to be precise, his biceps.
Again.
Your eyes drifted there every ten minutes like some kind of cursed routine. At this point, you could practically feel yourself drooling.
Which honestly made you feel absolutely pathetic, but you couldn’t help it. Instead, you licked your lips like a complete menace, a small sly smile slowly spreading across your face as your gaze drifted right back toward Leon’s arms again..
It wasn’t really your fault though, because they genuinely looked… yummy.
You shook your head once, maybe twice, trying to shake off the thought, but the sleeves of his black compression shirt were rolled up just enough to expose his forearms, veins shifting every time he typed something, and honestly? It was becoming a real problem for you to hold yourself back.
Leon had been stressed for days. Missions, reports, calls from HQ at ungodly hours. You knew he was exhausted, and you really didn’t want to push him further into that dark abyss hole. But unfortunately for him, exhaustion apparently made his biceps look even better.
It was completely unfair and wasn't your fault.
But you were trying to act normal about it. You really were. But every single time he reached for his coffee mug, your eyes followed the movement like a magnet.
At one point, you actually caught yourself leaning slightly across the couch just to get a better look.
Then suddenly,
“Okay,” Leon’s voice interrupted your thoughts without warning, making you nearly choke on your own saliva. “Out with it.”
You blinked innocently. “What?”
His ocean-blue eyes finally lifted from the laptop and landed directly on you. “You’ve been staring at me for the past hour.”
“I am not.”
“You absolutely are.”
“I was thinking.”
“About what?”
“Your arms,” you blurted out before your brain could stop you.
Leon stopped typing immediately, and now his full attention was entirely on you. Which honestly made the situation ten times worse.
“What about them?” he asked, standing up from his chair before finally stepping closer to you.
“Nothing,” you answered quickly.
What you actually wanted to say was: I want to bite them.
“You want to touch them?” he asked seriously, and the seriousness in his tone made you laugh loudly.
“No, absolutely not,” you replied quickly.
You just wanted to bite them, you think to yourself.
“You are not subtle, you know that?”
You crossed your arms defensively. “Maybe I’m just, like, concerned.”
“Concerned,” Leon repeated flatly.
“Yes.”
“About my biceps?”
“Exactly.”
“They are so big, what if they actually explode?” you blurted out quickly, staring at Leon like a deer caught in headlights after realizing you had said that out loud.
“Explode?” he repeated, and then a tired laugh escaped him, the kind that made the corners of his eyes crinkle despite how exhausted he looked.
“Yes,” you said immediately, doubling down instead of saving yourself. “Like one day you flex too hard and suddenly, boom. Property damage.”
Leon blinked a few times, like he genuinely could not believe what had just come out of your mouth, before staring at you with the most exhausted expression imaginable. “You know, most people worry about my job being dangerous.”
“Well I am worried about your arms becoming a national threat.”
“That’s not a thing.”
“It absolutely is.”
He rubbed a hand over his face, already regretting every decision that had somehow led him here. “You’ve been sitting there silently for an hour and this is what was happening inside your head?”
“You should be grateful I’m sharing my thoughts with you.”
“I really shouldn’t.”
You pointed dramatically at his arm. “Look at that! That should not legally exist.”
Leon glanced down at his own bicep like he was seeing it for the first time. “It’s literally just an arm.”
“It’s NOT just an arm.”
“It is attached to my body in a very normal way.”
“That sounds exactly like something a man with huge biceps would say.”
Leon barked out another laugh at that, shaking his head. “You are insane.”
“Yes, insanely in love with you.”
His laughter softened instantly at that, “…What?” Leon asked, sounding genuinely confused by what you had just said.
“Pretend I didn’t just say that,” you muttered quietly, suddenly finding the couch cushions very interesting.
Leon stared at you for a second longer before the corners of his mouth slowly lifted again. “If it makes you feel any better,” he said softly, “I’m insanely in love with you too.”
Your heart immediately started beating violently against your ribs at the confession, warm panic flooding through your chest all at once.
And just then, completely against your own will, your eyes drifted right back toward his arm again before you could stop yourself.
Leon noticed instantly.
“…Seriously?” he asked in disbelief. “God,” he muttered, staring at you now like he was witnessing a train wreck happen in real time. “You ACTUALLY want to touch them, don’t you?”
“I mean… not really?”
“Liar.”
Leon laughed louder this time. “You are unbelievable.”
“This is your fault.”
“My fault?”
“Yes. Why are they built like that?”
“I literally cannot control that.”
“Well, do something about it!”
“What am I supposed to do? Remove them?” Leon joked.
You squinted suspiciously at him.
Leon narrowed his eyes right back. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“…No reason.”
“That was the face of someone having a bad idea.”
“It’s not a bad idea.”
“It’s absolutely a bad idea.”
Without warning, you grabbed Leon's hand and pulled him down beside you on the couch, and despite the fact that he could have very easily resisted, he just let it happen, following your pull without a single complaint.
Leon immediately pointed at you accusingly. “No.”
“You don’t even know what I’m gonna say.”
“I know exactly what you’re gonna say.”
“…Can I take a bite out of your arms?” you finally asked.
Complete silence. Leon stared at you like this was the most absurd thing he had ever heard in his life, because he might have expected anything.. But this?
He definitely did not.
“You want to do what?”
“Just once.”
“You are insane.”
“They just look very biteable!”
“That is not a sentence a normal person says out loud!”
You were laughing now while Leon dramatically rubbed both hands down his face. “I fight bio-weapons for a living,” he muttered tiredly. “And somehow this is still the weirdest situation I’ve ever been in.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“Leon.”
“No.”
“Leon.”
“No.”
You gasped dramatically. “Cruel.”
Leon tried to stay serious. He genuinely did. But then he looked at your ridiculously hopeful face, those beautiful innocent eyes, and visibly lost the battle. A long-suffering sigh escaped him. “…One bite.”
Your eyes lit up instantly. “I can?!?”
“One,” he warned, holding up a finger. “And if you break my skin, I’m going to bite back.”
“That’s fair, but I don’t have biceps,” you argued while dramatically flexing your arms in front of his face.
He laughed at that, and in that exact moment, before he could rethink his decision you grabbed his arm carefully and finally—
Chomp.
You bit it hard.
Leon froze completely like he didn’t even register the pain at first, which immediately made you glance up at him too. Then, very, very slowly, he looked down at you still attached to his bicep with the most offended expression imaginable.
“…Did you just fucking moan?!”
You immediately let go, horrified. “I DID NOT.”
“You absolutely did.”
“Fine! In my defense, they were tasty!”
“That is somehow worse!”
You finally pulled away from his biceps and collapsed into laughter against him while, your head resting on his shoulder, while Leon stared at you for another second before bursting into laughter too.
But even then, his other arm was wrapped automatically around your waist, pulling you closer against his side like it was pure instinct.
“…Worth it?” he asked tiredly.
You grinned against his shoulder. “Absolutely.”
“Now can I get back to work?” Leon asked, already sounding exhausted by your existence.
“You may not,” you replied immediately, holding his arms around you possessively.
Leon then let out a long, dramatic sigh like he was truly suffering, but despite all the complaining, he made absolutely no effort to escape your grip.
Instead, Leon simply settled even closer to you, gently pulling you tighter against his side before looking down at you and pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head, making you smile wider than you ever did.
“Fine.” He murmur softly, and finally lets himself melt into you.

and when your best friend, chris, is the only person who actually listens and understands you, finally takes you home after your eleventh round of tequila, helping you sober up... before letting you cry in peace, you thought it would be okay even if just for the night.
but...when leon finds out, where you are and especially who you are with, things quickly spiral into unsaid chaos, because jealousy is a twisted bitch; and when it hits, it takes everything with it.

Today is the day.
It had to be. Right?
A day to finally confess.
Because you had been living through this shit for far too long.
That's what your thoughts had been circling around for the past two hours as you stood inside the ruined Umbrella facility, as you looked around, you see the place that was practically falling apart, the big chunks of concrete which fell from the walls remained scattered across the floor, the shattered glass from windows, were still shining as new, and it crunched beneath your boots whenever you shifted your weight.
The air smelled of smoke, something rotten, and sour chemical that burned the back of your throat which ocassionally made you gag enough to form tear in your eyes.
All of it was way too much for you to stomach and yet you pushed it aside in the back of your mind like you always have.
And you deeply sighed, trying to gain the control of your body back and wiped the beads of sweat from your forehead with the back of your hands before pressing and rubbing them clean onto your blue jeans then you glanced toward one of the broken windows.
As you finally lifted your gaze and stared outside it, you notice the sky was spread endlessly around the quiet city: and it was covered in muted shades of silvers with the hint of undeniable sadness in it.
The weather was indeed, beautiful and it made you feel it should have been raining by now because the clouds looked heavy enough to split open at any moment, yet somehow the storm continued to hold itself back.
And maybe that was what bothered you, because everything felt wrong today and there was an unmistakable feeling hanging in the air, an apprehension you couldn't quite explain, as though something was about to go terribly, terribly wrong.
The thoughts didnt stop there though: it went from the weather, towards the only thing you hated thinking about: your feelings.
If anything: thinking about them made everything hundred times worse. Because those restless feelings in you, kept coming back to the same ridiculous conclusion you'd been trying very hard to ignore for the past few months.
You were in love with him–the one and only Leon Scott Kennedy.
Your co-worker.
The absolute love of your life, who just didnt know it yet.
Or maybe it was simply the fact that he wasn't interested in someone else because of--no, you shake your head immediately because that thought itself was terrifying.
But one of the another truth you could digest was: Leon was about as perceptive as a cow chewing grass when it came to romance.
Not that you were much better.
Because instead of actually telling him how you felt, you'd spent months staring at him with enough heart-eyes to give yourself away a hundred times over, secretly hoping he'd notice.
Spoiler? He didnt. Fact? You made a fool of yourself every fucking time.
Then there was the way you always found an excuse to stand a little too close to him close enough that it made your pulse stumble and your stomach twist itself into knots. Somehow, he never seemed to notice that either.
And when that didn't work, you threw yourself into every mission, every briefing, every moment spent at his side with far more enthusiasm than was probably normal. As if being eager enough, obvious enough would somehow make him understand.
But of course he hadn't and unsurprisingly, your plan didn't quite worked as you hoped.
But now, you had finally decided to tell him everything.
Maybe not until after the mission you were currently on; because you still had no idea how you would even begin, but you knew you had to. Even if the outcome wasn't what you hoped for. Also because you were tired of hiding behind the walls you'd built around your heart, and tired of pretending your feelings weren't there.
Just as if something had reached into your head and ripped you out of your thoughts, Leon, who you completely forgot was with you, suddenly grabbed your shoulder and shoved you hard toward the wall. Your back slammed against the cold concrete beside you with a loud thud, knocking the breath from your lungs, the pain ran through your body making you hiss loudly. "Are you—"
But your words: were suddenly cut off by a gunshot that echoed through the building from Leon's gun, and smoke curled outside of it and dispersed in the air.
And the mutant that had been seconds away from sinking its teeth into your neck collapsed at your feet with a guttural groan, its body hitting the concrete with a sickening thud.
Fuck you didnt even notice. If Leon wasn't here you would have died. No shit.
You flinched and before you could even process what had happened, Leon crossed the distance between you and him , and finally stopped directly in front of you, close enough that you could feel the warmth of his breath against your skin. "What the hell is wrong with you today?" he snapped at you, his gaze fixed on yours.
Instead of getting angry at him or his tone, your body betrayed you immediately, and you swallow before lowering your gaze, and feel a sudden shiver racing down your spine as the realization struck you finally that he was standing entirely too close. Finally when you lifted your head and met his darkened blue eyes, you felt something very close to worry in it. "Why aren't you paying attention today?" He pressed.
You opened your mouth, still slightly breathless from the impact of the wall hitting you. "Sorry—"
"Sorry?" Leon cuts in sharply, and he runs a hair through his hair, “I don't think sorry–.” Before he could continue, a movement flashed from the corner of his eye.
Then a mutant appeared, honestly? They were bad at reading the room; even if you said it you knew it was quite an understatement.
A second later another mutant burst from a nearby room. But this time Leon didn't even turn towards it, he just raised his gun and shot a bullet straight to his head, the mutant dropped instantly before even getting closer to you and Leon's eyes didn't waver from yours and he frowned slightly. "You've almost been grabbed three times in the last twenty minutes."
You narrowed your eyes at him, god you were angry at him, furious even; but fuck.. how was he so clueless? frustrated with yourself and your own thoughts and a little bit with him, with everything, you shoved him hard in the chest.
Leon instantly staggered back a step, stumbling over his own feet, but he didn't fall: he just steadied himself before he could fall and for a second he just looked at you, with those beautiful intense eyes and unreadable expression that you knew better than anyone, which meant ‘why are you not listening to me’, but god you could not reply anyway.
Then he sighed heavily, clenching his jaw, his eyes dropping just for a second towards your lips, but he quickly shook his head and lifted his gaze and stared at you again, slowly he opened his mouth, and closed it again.
Because what else was he supposed to say?
He didn't know.
And now you looking at him, you felt the truth you'd been trying so desperately to bury claw its way back to the surface, digging up the grave you'd carefully made for it instead.
Because he was right.
You hadn't been focused on the mission, or anything else for that matter. The only thing occupying your mind was him. The need to tell him had been sitting in your chest for so long that it had become impossible to ignore. But now, with everything laid bare between you, your thoughts felt hopelessly tangled together, knotted so tightly that you couldn't make sense of any of them anymore.
Leon took a deep breath and stepped closer to you again, stopping only a few inches away from you, “are you listening to me?” He asked, and you shook your head dropping your head in defeat, and he pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation, "are you okay?." He asked softly.
When you met his gaze, there was genuine worry written in it, but what cracked your heart was, the useless thought: that he did worry for you, but as your partner, and not the way you wanted him to, "I'm fine," you said quietly.
But something else popped in your mind, a useless thought, like another tab opening in the browser of your mind, without you even clicking on it, because you knew you can't just give up: without even telling him, you thought to yourself, and told yourself, today is the day, so stop being pathetic and tell him.
Leon immediately looked unconvinced, as if he could hear your thoughts that were ruining your life, but the thought that he could hear it, made your stomach drop to the floor you were standing on, because if he could hear you right now, that would be scary.
But again you knew it was more like he could not believe a single word that came out of your mouth. "You don't look fine." Then he guides his hand, resting it above your head, before ruffling your hair, “Tell me, please.”
God, for a moment, his hands on you felt like they were pressing a gentle warmth straight into your system, spreading through you with every second he held on. Looking at him, you couldn't stop the thought that surfaced, that it was supposed to be now. This was the moment. You could say everything, you held inside. He was standing right in front of you, and for the first time, it felt like he was giving you the chance to finally do it.
You could say millions of things including your feelings, him, what you felt.
Even if words run out, he would understand it. You knew he would.
Tell him. Tell him. Tell him.
Your brain replayed that thought over and over again making you swallow hard and you nod more to yourself than to him, he looked at you intently as if you were explaining the way of world peace, “there is something..” you trailed off mid sentence, because damn it, how do you even start with this stuff.
“Take your time.”, Leon said before removing his hands from your hairs and resting it inside his pocket, but his gaze remained on yours as if he could only head you if he had focus like that, or maybe what you were going to say was the most important thing.
The moment he removed his hands from your hairs, you felt disappointment run through your chest and you finally curl your fingers into a fist and open your mouth to let the confession fall from your throat. “I-I–”
Just then, as if fate decided to intervene in the midst of your confession, it was cut off before you could even get your words out.
"Did I interrupt something?" The familiar seductive voice drifted through the air before you could even complete your sentence.
It was the voice of a woman you knew way too well.
.
.
You closed your eyes briefly.
Because there it was, another reason, beside your cowardiceness, that your confession never made it out of your head. Here stood another reason in flesh.
Because when she existed that beautifully how could you let your feelings be known?
When you turned toward the sound, she was already there, standing only a few feet away from you and Leon.
Ada Wong.
She looked inhumanely beautiful, short hairs, perfectly dressed, her red dress clinging to her figure, while her features complemented her face far more beautifully.
For a moment, a sharp blade of jealousy twisted deep in your gut. It was a feeling you'd kept buried beneath your heart for so long, but now it surged to the surface all at once. And despite yourself, your eyes immediately drifted to Leon.
The change in his frame was instant. His entire body went rigid, and he rolled his shoulder before closing his eyes for a second after seeing her, and his breath turned uneven just at her presence, as you see it happen in real time, tears involuntarily started forming in your eyes, and right now as you see it happening all you wanted to do was run away.
Because fuck the confession.
Fuck Leon Scott kennedy.
Maybe it was unfair, but you were tired of seeing this happening every damn time.
His jaw clenched so tightly you swore you could hear his molars cracking. Your chest twisted painfully inside you, because of that very expression he made, after all it was the same one he always wore whenever Ada appeared. Like a dog finally seeing the person who kept abandoning it.
"There we go," you muttered under your breath too quietly, that you were not even sure that you even said it.
To your surprise, Leon immediately turned away from Ada and looked toward you instead, his body relaxing the minute his gaze landed on you, "Let's go, we will finish this conversation later."
You stared at him, confused, your tears fading as your mind struggled to grasp his sudden change. Yet, you could practically feel every nerve in Leon's body reacting to Ada's presence, and still he didn't chase her, nor did he talk to her.
It somehow felt strange.
Because Leon wanted Ada, didn't he?
And before either of you could move from your place, Ada laughed softly and began walking toward the two of you. "Always so warm, Leon."
"What do you want?" Leon asked flatly, before finally turning to her, meeting his gaze, but as he looked at her, there was only coldness remained in his eyes.
.
And it was something he never thought was possible, yet it had happened. He had become cold toward Ada. Not cruel, not hateful, just distant in a way he had never managed before.
Because for years, she'd occupied a complicated place in his life, one he never quite knew how to let go of.
He also knew she cared, of course she did, but never enough to stay, never enough to choose him, and as time passed Leon had buried that truth beneath old memories and unfinished feelings.
Maybe it started years ago after he saved Ashley and Ada appeared again, reopening wounds that never truly healed.
But now it was different. Everything changed when you showed up in his life. At first, Leon tried to keep it professional between you and him. Because he felt something very first day he saw you: but he told himself it was familiarity, attachment issues, loneliness, anything except what it actually was.
He convinced himself he didn't want more, didn't need more.
But God, did he fall. He absolutely did, harder than he could ever admit. Because how could he not? After seeing you smile, after you made his days lighter by just existing beside him.
You made him feel like he needed to be a better person. But he could not let half-attachment take away his life. So he tried to move on.
He did, but could not.
So instead he tried something else, for the first time in his life, to finally confess his feelings, more than once, but the chances were never in his favour.
And he could not do that either.
And a part of him had never truly believed you wanted him that way. Not until today at least, because you had been acting stranger than usual from the moment the mission started, and he thought maybe just maybe you were going to tell him about your feelings? Maybe you were not.
Because even that paled in comparison to what had really been haunting him. You had nearly gotten yourself killed more times than he could count today, and that had terrified Leon far more than anything else.
Usually you took these missions more seriously than him, and today you were distracted, and a small voice in the back of his head told him that it was because of him.
But he could not believe it. Because you never said it out-right to him, that you had feelings, and he never saw it either.
But again neither did he: showed his feelings to you.
But maybe, in his mind, just maybe, it was that. That you loved him. The same way he loved you too.
Leon shook his head sharply to shake off the thoughts that were trying to take over his entire nervous system.
Because he was absolutely wrong. He knew that, deep in the logical mind of his.
So, he decided he would tell you everything another time.
Not knowing: today had to be the day for it.
.
Which is something you both didn't know, at least not yet.
.
Ada chuckles and places a hand dramatically against her chest. "Ouch."
"What do you want, Ada?" Leon said and this time his tone was even sharper.
Ada's smile widened as her shoulder relaxed, finally seeing Leon finally looking at her. "Information."
Leon immediately pinched the bridge of his nose at her comment and his eyebrows furrowed in obvious irritation. "We don't know anything, yet."
Ada tilted her head, looking at Leon and her gaze for a second drifted to yours and something close to amusement touched her lips, "So, you are searching for it here?"
“Yes, we are,” Leon said coolly, “but we don't have time to waste, so let's go our separate ways. Like we always do.” This time, he didn't wait for Ada's response. Instead, he gently took hold of your wrist, his fingers wrapping around it with surprising care, and instantly warmth bloomed inside your chest, spreading through you in a way that felt both unfamiliar and impossible to ignore.
“Maybe I can help you?” Ada offered, her lips curving into a smile as she looked at Leon. Then her gaze dropped to where his hand was still wrapped around your wrist. For the briefest moment, something sharp flickered across her face, her jaw tightening before she smoothed it away and looked back at you.
“No need,” Leon said immediately, already trying to guide you away.
But your feet refused to move, and you yank your wrist away from Leon's grasp, Leon's face falls as you do, but you were so focused on Ada: to notice how Leon reacted to that, “How?” you asked instead, keeping your eyes on her.
“Interesting,” Ada murmured softly.
Before she could say anything else, Leon cut in. “We are not taking her help.” and his tone left no room for argument.
Ada sighed dramatically. “Leon, even your partner seems willing to trust me.” She tilted her head slightly. “Don't make me look bad. And don't act like I've never helped you before.”
Your eyes narrowed at her. “What's in it for you?”
For a second, Ada's gaze sharpened, calculating, like always, “Oh, let's just say it's for Leon's sake. Old times' sake.”
For Leon. Of course it was for him, and their old times.
Which you hated completely. Your stomach churned as jealousy reared its ugly head once more, and you scoffed, shaking your head in disbelief.
Because every instinct told you to refuse, to leave Ada behind and continue on your own. But you were exhausted by everything, him, roaming endlessly in this building, and if Ada knew something that could get you out faster, then maybe it was worth the risk. “Fine,” you said at last. “Help us, then.”
The moment the words left your mouth, Leon's hand landed on your shoulder, turning you toward him. “What are you doing?” he asked sharply. You met his blue eyes without backing down.
“Let her help us.” you replied.
He shakes his head clearly not entertained, “That's crazy, you know that.”
“She knows something.” you pressed, your eyes pleading as they drowned itself into Leon's gaze.
“I don't care.” Leon said before loosening his grip on your shoulder and crossing his hands in front of himself.
You sighed at him and lowered your voice. “Leon, she's here anyway. We might as well make her useful.”
His jaw ticked immediately. The look he gave you made it obvious he hated every second of this.
Meanwhile, Ada looked entirely too pleased with herself. “See?” she said lightly. “Your partner is the reasonable one.”
Leon shot her a glare sharp enough to cut through steel, “Don't push your luck, ada.”
Ada only smiled at his response.
.
.
The next thing you knew, the three of you were moving deeper into the facility, following Ada's lead through dim corridors and flickering lights.
As you three kept walking you noticed something peculiar—Leon didn't leave your side, not once, he stayed in between you and Ada, though, somehow, he was guiding you by placing his hand firmly against your lower back, which made your chest tightened, because perhaps he was doing it unconsciously, but honestly? things like this, only made it harder to not love him, and your chest swelled with same emotions you were dealing for months.
The next twenty minutes passed surprisingly smoothly, all thanks to Ada, because now you finally managed to reach the first floor of the facility.
Ada led the way deeper into the first floor room, until she stopped in front of what looked like an ordinary wall, and you both followed behind her. A few seconds later, ada pressed some hidden buttons in it and a door slid open with a mechanical hiss. "Voila", Ada said triumphantly.
Your eyes widened in shock, “wow.”
“Don't know if we are dealing with zombies or spies.” Leon said, rolling his shoulders, his comment makes you relax entirely and you chuckle softly.
God, he is such a stupid man.
But getting back to the situation at hand: now it all made sense. Why neither you nor Leon had been able to find the door before.
Because it was deeply hidden. The room though, looked like a forgotten archive buried beneath years of secrets, there were countless Umbrella files and classified documents filling the space, the shelves stood overturned, papers littered the floor, and old computer monitors remained completely dark into the dimly lit room. The air here smelled different, it was of dust and old papers and mold taking place in this room. But at least it was better.
Relief settled immediately in your chest. And without wasting another second, you hurried toward the nearest desk and began rummaging through stacks of folders.
Leon moved beside you, searching through another pile of documents.
For a moment, you almost forgot Ada was even there. Then a soft cough echoed through the room, as she made her presence known.
You and Leon looked up at once.
Ada stood across from you holding a file, and then she stepped towards you slowly, "This one," she said.
You frowned a little at it, "How do you know?"
Ada merely rolled her eyes. "Just take it."
Before you could question her further, she pressed the file into your hands. Your heart immediately picked up speed, as you clutched and curled your fingers around it.
“Open it.” She said, raising her brow.
You nodded and looked down before flipping the cover open and turned through the pages, your eyes popped largely as if bulging itself to come out of your skull, because the file had exactly what you were looking for, "We got it," you breathed, to yourself.
"We do." Leon's voice came from beside you. Then he stepped closer to you and glanced down at the documents over your shoulder.
His arm brushed yours as he leaned in, and despite everything, your heart betrayed you, beating at frantic speed.
You didn't dare move or breathe, and somehow at that moment everything around you faded in a blur but as the warmth of him settled beside you so naturally it made your chest ache.
Then Leon stepped away instantly and the space beside you instantly felt colder. "I'll see if there's anything else," he called, already moving toward a row of drawers against the far wall.
You just nodded to yourself watching him briefly: before returning your attention to the file.
And once you were done, you slammed it shut you looked up from your file, and noticed Ada through the corner of your eye, that she drift toward Leon.
You wanted to interrupt whatever she wanted to say to Leon, to pull him away, or just tell him, you were done: and now you should go back the HQ but somehow nothing came out of your mouth, and maybe you just wanted to see how far it would go.
How far Leon would go with her.
Your eyes remained on them, as Ada soft chuckle echoed in the room, "Remember when you saved me before?"
Your fingers tightened around the file you were holding: at her words, because you know it all too well. You remember it as clearly as yesterday.
After all, you'd seen it happen with your own eyes. And just then a memory flashed through your mind: all of it happened in the split second before the explosion, Leon had instinctively thrown himself in front of Ada, shielding her with his own body as the blast engulfed them. The image is still burned into your head, whether you wanted to or not.
Your chest tightened painfully at that image, because all you could remember was Leon enveloping Ada in his body, and instead of caring for his own safety he made sure she was protected.
The memory ended and you took a deep breath, trying to calm your trembling body.
And that was Leon for you: always the hero, never caring what happened to him as long as everyone else, or Ada, was safe.
Maybe you were being unfair right now, but as soon as those thoughts appeared in your mind, everything started to hurt even more, and your eyes remained glued to them.
Leon scoffed at that, and barely glanced at her before replying, "Unfortunately."
Ada rolled her eyes at him. "You are quite charming, Leon."
“That's not what people usually accuse me of,” Leon replied dryly, already beginning to step away.
Then to your surprise Ada reached out and caught his hand, “I–” Ada starts.
And your stomach dropped immediately.
Oh, for fuck's sake. You cursed under your breath.
No way. She can't.
Leon looked just as surprised as you felt. His eyes flickered down to where her fingers rested against his hand before he pulled away almost instantly, like the contact had burnt him.
Before any of them could react or say anything, you clutched the file tighter to your chest and stepped forward, and quickly reached where Leon stood and conveniently, and--completely accidentally, you placed yourself directly between them.
Ada stepped back instantly, and her mouth twitched, because she knew why you did that, because after all she felt the same for him, but she didn't dare speak, so you took your chance, “Leon,” you said, a little too quickly, refusing to look at Leon, “I think we should go.” strange, your voice was calmer than you were feeling
Because internally? You were screaming at him. It was jealousy, you knew, embarrassing, and yet there it was anyway, twisting inside your chest as you refused to look at him.
Still. What Leon didn't know couldn't hurt him or you.
Right?
.
Before Leon could say anything, the floor beneath the three of you suddenly lurched.
A violent tremor ripped through the facility, making the entire structure groan around you, the metal screeched in the distance, and the concrete cracked beneath your feet, while the overhead lights above you flickered wildly.
For a split second, you thought the whole building was collapsing, until you realized it wasn't the facility moving. It was the floor you three were standing on. "Move!" Leon shouted.
You barely had time to register his voice before his hands hit your shoulders way too hard, and then he pushed with a force that sent you stumbling several feet away from him, your boots scraping violently against the concrete as you struggled to regain your balance.
Then the ground below Leon and ada were on disappeared in a second. And a massive section of the floor gave way beneath them, concrete shattering as the entire platform collapsed into the darkness below.
Your heart stopped, entirely, and you could feel it, instantly stop beating, your breath stuck into your throat, "LEON!" The scream tore from your vocal chords, a low guttural sound that could not bear losing him.
No.
No, no, no.
Not him.
Before you could even process what was happening, your body was already moving, instinct and adrenaline took over you completely. The same instinct that always did whenever Leon was involved.
So you ran straight to the collapse and without thinking you jumped on the floor below, as soon as you did, nothing mattered: then a second later pain exploded through your ankles then your legs, the moment you landed on the lower level, but you ignored it. Slowly dust filled the air, the debris rained around you.
But none of it mattered right now–because all you could see was Leon.
On the ground, breathing, alive.
Relief crashed into you so hard your knees nearly gave out.
Then your eyes lifted and the relief curdled instantly, into something ugly as you saw Ada above him, she was completely shielded by his body, his arms wrapped around her protectively, his back taking the impact of the fall, every inch of him positioned between her and the collapsing concrete.
But as far as you know Leon wasn't bleeding which was a relief.
But the sight struck something deep inside your chest, and you clenched your jaw tightly, as you saw them wrapped into each other for a few more seconds. Suddenly your stomached turned into weird knots, knowing that's what he does, he chooses Ada every damn time, he protected her.
Again.
Not caring if he could die, or get hurt.
Honestly? A part of you knew that Leon would've done that for anyone.
But jealousy didn't care about logic. And right now it felt like something sharp twisting directly between your ribs.
Leon groaned, making you pull out your thoughts, but nothing came out of your mouth, you even parted your lips trying to speak, but what remained on the tips of your tongue was, “you chose her” so instead you remained quiet.
Then immediately Leon seemed to realize the position he was in, and he soon pushed himself up with a loud wince and practically shoved Ada away from him.
Ada smirked at Leon, "You protected me again." She casually said as she straightened herself beside leon.
Leon ignored her entirely, his eyes instead drifting to you instead, as he limped slightly while walking towards you, "You okay?"
Why on earth was he so damn stupid?
He could have died. That thought kept repeating inside your head as you stared at him. Not the fall. Not the scratches covering his skin. Not the pain in your legs.
The only thought that remained was he could have died.
And somehow, after throwing himself into danger, after shielding Ada with his own body, after nearly giving you a heart attack, the first thing out of his mouth was asking if you were okay.
You just stared at him blankly. For a long moment, you couldn't find a single word to say. Because what were you supposed to tell him, anyways? That you were furious at him? That seeing him protect her had felt like someone driving a arrow straight through your chest? That you were terrified of losing him?
You should not be furious but emotions, ugly emotions never cared about that, did they?
And none of it mattered anymore anyhow, so instead you simply nodded.
Though a flicker of something unfamiliar crossed his face, before he could speak, another violent tremor shook the facility from top to bottom. "Wow, someone ask me if I'm okay too," Ada said dryly. You didn't even have to look at her to know there was a smug smile tugging at her lips.
"Leave," Leon ordered, without even looking at her, his eyes remained glued on you instead, as he started, “I wanna tell–”, Leon swallowed.
But you cut him off, "You're hurt... let's get outside, okay? The helicopter should be here by now." The moment the words left your mouth, confusion flickered across Leon's face again, and you saw it, lingering there as if he couldn't understand where this sudden distance was coming from.
But everything hurts. Your chest felt tight, your thoughts a mess, and the ache in your heart was becoming impossible to ignore. It was all too much. So you turned away from Leon and saw that the space that Ada had occupied moments ago was empty now.
Not that you cared.
Soon, you walked past the exit and quickened your pace toward the door, hoping Leon wouldn't notice anything.
Though a bitter voice in the back of your mind told you he probably wouldn't anyway, and somehow you believed it.
Yet within a few steps, Leon had already caught up to you. To your surprise, he reached out and gently wrapped his hand around your wrist, bringing you to a stop. Your gaze turned to him and dropped to where his fingers rested against your skin before slowly you lifted your gaze to his face. There was something almost pleading in his expression, a look that made your chest tighten despite yourself. "Hey, listen—"
You pulled away from his grasp instantly before he could continue and his brows furrowed in confusion. "What's wrong? Talk to me."
You shook your head, refusing to meet his eyes. "Nothing."
The lie came out far too quickly and looking at Leon he didn't believe it either. But before he could question you anymore, you finally walked outside and this time Leon didn't try to catch up with you: which felt like a relief.
As you finally stepped outside the building, the cool night air struck your face, carrying away the stale scent of smoke and destruction. A helicopter was already waiting on the empty road ahead, its rotors spinning steadily beneath the dark sky.
Without saying a word, you climbed aboard.
The flight back to headquarters passed in complete silence. Leon tried speaking twice with you, his voice cutting through the hum of the engine, but each time you ignored him, keeping your eyes closed and pretending to be asleep. Eventually, he gave up.
But even with your closed eyes the tension inside the cabin settled and felt like a suffocating weight, it was thick and impossible to escape.
The moment the helicopter began its descent onto the DSO rooftop, you were already preparing to leave.
As soon as the skids touched the helipad, you stood and headed for the exit. Before the rotors had even fully slowed, finally when the engine was stopped you stepped onto the rooftop and walked away without a single glance back.
Behind you, Leon called your name, but you kept walking anyway. Leaving him standing there on the landing pad as the realization slowly settled across his face.
Something was very, very wrong.
.
.
Later, at 9:08 p.m., instead of going home, you found yourself sitting on a deserted stairwell tucked away in a quiet corner of headquarters. It was hidden from the rest of the world and more importantly, hidden from Leon.
Your eyes were red and swollen from crying. Every tear seemed to make the heaviness in your chest worse, as if some terrible, inevitable doom was hanging over you, waiting to crush what little strength you had left.
So you sat with your head buried between your knees, shoulders hunched forward, making yourself as small as possible. Your spine ached from the position, but you barely noticed.
Everything hurts anyway.
Then a familiar voice broke through the silence. "There you are." You didn't need to look up to know who it was.
Chris.
Your best friend, he stopped directly in front of you, hands resting on his hips as he looked down at your miserable state. You knew he was there, but you couldn't bring yourself to speak. Instead, you kept your head lowered, staring at the floor. "Whoa, who died?" Chris joked lightly.
But the second you lifted your head, his face fell instantly seeing your tear-stained face, swollen eyes, and your trembling lips told him everything he needed to know.
Without another word, his expression softened, and he stepped forward and gently pulled you against him, pressing your face into his stomach while one hand settled on the back of your head. "Hey," he murmured quietly. "Tell me."
The kindness in his voice only made the dam break further. A sob escaped your throat, louder this time, and your fingers curled into his shirt tightly.
For a moment, Chris simply stood there, one hand resting on the back of your head as you cried against him. Then, slowly, you pulled away. His hand slipped from your hair and fell back to his side as you tilted your head up to look at him. Your eyes were red, your cheeks damp with tears. "I want you to take me to a bar."
Chris sighed, "What?"
"I said I want you to take me to a bar."
For a second, he simply stared at you, certain he'd misheard. "Are you serious?"
"Please, Chris." The look you gave him stopped any further questions before they could leave his mouth. It wasn't anger or stubbornness he saw or knew.
It was heartbreak, and whatever had happened, it was bad enough that you were asking for something you would never normally ask for.
Chris exhaled heavily through his nose and rubbed a hand over his face."...Okay."
.
.
A few hours later, you were sitting at a bar with what you were fairly certain was your eleventh tequila shot.
At least, you thought it was your eleventh. "And that's why he loves Ada," you declared dramatically, pointing an accusing finger at Chris as if you were presenting undeniable evidence in court.
Across from you, Chris buried his face in his hands, because he had listened to this story nine times.
Nine. God he was tired, but he knew so were you so he just listened.
Again.
"So you're saying he saved Ada?" he asked mockingly.
You gasped in immediate offense, "No, no, no." You shook your head so hard the room tilted slightly. "You're missing the point."
"The point I've heard nine times?"
Ignoring him entirely, you spun toward the bartender and raised your empty shot glass. "Another one."
“For the love of God, no.” Before the bartender could move, Chris reached across the counter and snatched the glass right out of your hand.
"Chris!" You pouted.
You narrowed your eyes at him, and he rubbed his forehead and finally he leaned forward and grabbed both sides of your face, squishing your cheeks together until your lips puckered involuntarily. "Listen to me."
You nodded, your eyes widening as if you were in a classroom and your teacher specifically asked you to do something, "He loves you."
For a second there was silence, God if only it was true, then you burst into laughter so hard you nearly fell off the stool, but Chris, didn't let you fall but instead he held you in place removing his hands from your face.
"I'm serious!" Chris protested.
"Oh my God," you wheezed between giggles. "You're on his side too."
"I'm not on anyone's side." Chris said and his tone was firm.
"Then you're delusional."
"You're the one eleven tequila shots deep."
You pointed at him triumphantly. “Still you are the one delusional here.” You stick out your tongue at him, and chuckled "at least I am keeping my wits about me.”
Chris looked like he was talking to a wall at this point. "He would've done that for anyone," he said patiently. "Leon is Leon. The guy throws himself into danger for complete strangers. That's literally who he is."
Your laughter faded, then your face suddenly fell, as you stared past Chris head: "But he doesn't love me." You mumbled the words came out quieter than everything else you'd said that night.
Chris's expression softened immediately. "And the thought that he does?" he asked carefully.
You looked down into your lap, "Really tempting.” Then you sighed, “but it's not the truth.”
Chris was about to logic his way into your mind but just then your attention abruptly shifted to a random man sitting three stools away.
You pointed dramatically at him, "That guy looks like a cat." You giggled.
Chris followed your finger. The man looked absolutely nothing like a cat, and thank god that man didn't notice you talking like that, "Okay, enough," Chris said firmly, finally standing up. "We're leaving."
"No, we are not!"
“We absolutely are”, he sighed then he grabbed your arm, gently but firm enough to make you listen.
But did you listen?
Obviously not. Then immediately, you smiled at Chris, the very one, which meant 'trouble' and then his face paled, because he knew you were gonna do something stupid, when his grip on you loosens and instantly you take the moment to slide off your stool and sit cross-legged on the floor.
In the middle of the bar.
Like a stubborn toddler staging a protest. Chris slowly closed his eyes. "Please tell me you're not doing this."
"I'm… n…not going home." You said slurring on your words.
By now, people had started staring at you and him, but you didn't care. Not really. Not when your entire world already felt like it was falling apart around you. Chris looked up at the ceiling as if some higher power might suddenly grant him the patience to deal with you. When none came, he let out a long sigh, leaned down, and grabbed your wrist. "Get up," he said. "People are watching."
"No." You giggled again.
Chris tilted his head toward the ceiling again as if begging someone to help him.
"Take me to your place," you blurted out, looking up at Chris with pleading eyes. Chris finally met your gaze, and for a moment, it looked like he was about to refuse. Then, before either of you could say anything else, you suddenly gagged uncontrollably, but luckily you didnt throw up.
Chris sighed in relief and whispered, "Definitely not."
"Then I'm staying here." You say scrunching your nose at him.
"You cannot stay here."
You folded your arms. “Watch me!”
Five painfully embarrassing minutes later, and two negotiations: Chris finally managed to drag you back onto your feet and outside of the bar. Though he did apologize on your behalf to them.
You celebrated his defeat by immediately leaning your entire body weight against him. "You're my best friend." Your hands snaked around his waist.
"Sadly.” Chris said, shaking his head.
"I'd die for you." You smiled.
"Please don't." He groaned and by the time he managed to get you into the car, you were already halfway asleep.
The drive home was filled with slurred rambling about Leon, Ada, helicopters, conspiracies, and what Chris strongly suspected was the exact same story for the tenth time, still he listened to you and his eyes stayed on the road. Because despite all the tequila, he knew what was really happening.
Big misunderstanding, between you and Leon and he did tell you that, but of course, you didn't believe him.
When he finally pulled into the driveway and glanced over to you, he found you curled against the window with your eyes closed.
Chris sighed heavily.
As annoying as you'd been all night, seeing you like this made something twist painfully in his chest. Because for all your jokes and stubbornness, you looked lost. Carefully, he climbed out of the driver's seat and walked around to your side of the car.
When he opened the door, you immediately mumbled something incoherent and reached for him. "Come on," he said to you, "Let's get you inside and help you sober you up.”
You honestly thought you had dreamt it all. Because everything felt distant and blurry, as your exhaustion settled heavily into your bones and your eyelids threatened to close again. For a moment, you just sat there trying to stay awake while the world around you swayed slightly.
Then Chris sighed, turned his back toward you, and crouched down while you remained inside the car, then you blinked at his back in confusion. "What are you doing?"
"Getting you inside before you pass out before even standing up." Chris said softly.
A tired laugh escaped you before you could stop it, because you were too exhausted to argue, so you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and let him pull you onto his back.
Then he straightened himself up in one motion, and as he did your eyes drifted shut again, and you could barely keep them open anyway.
A few seconds later, you forced them open briefly, just enough to make sure you weren't actually dreaming. You weren't. Chris was carrying you towards his apartment.
Then you sighed in exhaustion as if you were the one carrying Chris then you rested your head against his shoulder and let him guide you towards his apartment.
By the time Chris managed to get you inside his house, you were wide awake.
And suddenly you noticed one of your shoes had somehow disappeared during the journey from the car to the elevator. But you didn't know where: nor that they mattered.
Swiftly he guided you toward the couch and gently pulled you from his back and dropped you onto it before disappearing into the kitchen. A minute later he returned with a glass of water. "Drink."
You accepted it with surprising seriousness.
Chris relaxed for a second: then, without warning, you promptly spilled the entire glass down the front of your shirt.
You stared down at your soaked clothes. "...Oops."
Chris groaned so loudly that it echoed through the apartment. "For God's sake."
You burst into laughter. "It's cold."
"Yeah." Chris said before rubbing his temples and disappeared into another room of his before returning with an oversized grey hoodie, in his hands, "Here." He says handing you the hoodie.
"What?" You asked.
"Put it on."
You squinted suspiciously at it. "Why?"
"Because your shirt is soaked."
"Oh."
That seemed reasonable enough. A few minutes later, after a struggle that involved your head somehow getting stuck in one sleeve, Chris finally managed to help you pull the hoodie over your head.
You immediately dropped your head and buried your nose into the fabric, then frowned. "It smells funny."
Chris looked offended. "It smells like laundry detergent."
"It smells like... Chris and it's funny."
"That's because it's mine." Chris sighed.
"You know what?" he continued, "I'm never helping anyone ever again."
"You love me." You winked at him.
"Unfortunately."
You grinned at his response then immediately leaned sideways and nearly fell off the couch. Chris caught you before you could hit the floor. "Jesus–."
For a moment he just stood there holding your shoulders while you blinked slowly up at him.
Then he exhaled sharply, "You need water and some hangover pills."
“No need.” you shake your head and smile stupidly at him.
Chris rubbed the back of his neck, before saying, “your shirt might seem to disagree.” possibly talking about the fact you soaked your shirt with water: because you were way to drunk.
Then he turned away towards his room and a few minutes later he returned with another glass and a couple of hangover tablets. "Take these." He hands them to you.
You stared at them, suspiciously before blurting out, "They're tiny."
"Take them." Chris ordered.
"What if they're poisoned?" You questioned.
Chris looked genuinely exhausted. "If I wanted to poison you, I would've done it three hours ago."
You nodded and with the world's greatest reluctance, you swallowed the pills. Chris watched until he was absolutely certain you had actually taken them this time.
“Thank you.” You murmured, finally laying onto his couch.
“Don't mention it.” he sighed, and only then did he finally relax.
The apartment grew quieter after that. The alcohol was starting to lose its battle against exhaustion, but you didn't sleep, more so you could not: as everything started to weigh more on your heart.
You pulled the sleeves of his hoodie over your hands and curled deeper into the couch.
Chris disappeared down his bedroom: for a moment before returning with a blanket draped over one arm.
Without a word, he tossed it over you, making sure it covered you properly as you curled deeper into the couch. You mumbled something incoherent in response, making him roll his eyes.
Then he settled at the end of the couch near your feet, leaning back with a long sigh as the silence of the apartment finally returned.
For the first time all night, he allowed himself to relax. Because deep down, he already knew this peace wasn't going to last.
Because he knew the moment Leon found out where you were? The moment he realized Chris had taken you home instead?
There was going to be a problem, a big one, Chris dragged a hand down his face and groaned quietly before glancing back at you. "Yeah," he muttered to himself. "He's gonna lose his damn mind."
.
.
Meanwhile back at the headquarters, Leon didn't realize something was wrong at first. Because at first he tried to find you but could not, but after all, people disappeared after missions all the time. Mostly everyone went home, slept for twelve hours straight. Maybe you did too.
So, he told himself not to overthink it. You were an adult. You could take care of yourself. You were probably at home already, curled up somewhere with a blanket.
The thought should have made him feel relieved, but it didn’t.
Then he called you.
And it went straight to voicemail.
Second time. Same.
By the fourth unanswered call, Leon was actually scared. god damn it. Why weren't you picking up your phone? Were you hurt? Were you upset? He knew there was something you wanted to say.
But what if something happened to you?
He was halfway through before losing his mind, with unhelpful thoughts, “Fuck where are you?" he muttered under his breath, while staring at his phone, as he clutched it tighter beneath his fingers.
Eventually, he called everyone on his team after enough badgering and threatening of his co-workers on the phone someone from another group finally cracked and mentioned seeing Chris leaving the bar.
With you, and you were drunk all over Chris.
Leon's jaw clenched so hard it hurt, so immediately, his brain supplied several extremely unhelpful images that only made his mood worse.
You laughing with Chris. Leaning on Chris. Crying on Chris. Going home with Chris.
"Nope." The word came out sharp.
Before common sense could intervene, Leon was already grabbing his keys from his pockets.
Then twenty minutes later, he was driving far faster than he should have been, rain beginning to hammer against the windshield as his thoughts spiraled further and further out of control.
The logical part of him knew Chris was his and your friend, and you were safe with him. He trusted him with his and your life.
Leon knew that, internally and logically but when feelings are involved logic rarely ever worked.
And every time he imagined you upset enough to cry on somebody else's shoulder instead of his, or being with someone else, something ugly twisted inside his chest.
So he pressed down on the accelerator, the night swallowing the car as the world outside dissolved into streaks of light.
.
.
You weren't entirely asleep when the pounding started on Chris's door after thirty minutes.
At first, your alcohol-soaked brain convinced itself it was part of a dream. Then the knocking came again, louder this time, rattling through Chris's apartment.
You groaned from beneath the blanket and lifted your head slightly. "Is that the postman?" you mumbled.
Chris laughed quietly then looked up from where he'd been sitting across the room.
At the sound of the knocking, his expression immediately shifted. Because he knew exactly who it was. “He is earlier than I thought.”
Another knock came through.
Chris groaned and finally pushed himself upright and walked toward the front door while muttering several creative insults under his breath. The moment he opened it, Leon was standing there, soaked from the rain, "Wherе is she?"
Chris folded his arms around his chest, as he stared at Leon, “Hello to you too.”
"Chris." The warning in Leon's voice was immediate.
"Where is she?" He repeated.
Chris smiled, "Nice to see you too, buddy."
He knew he was playing with fire.
Leon flared his nostril, his blue eyes darkening as he simply pushed past Chris and walked inside. "Hey—"
Leon barely heard another word Chris said. The second he entered the living room, and moved inside and then his gaze settled on the couch and he found you.
And there you were curled up beneath a blanket on the couch, you froze the moment you saw him. Then you sat up so abruptly it was as if the alcohol had vanished from your bloodstream. The blanket slid from your shoulders and gathered in your lap.
Only then did Leon notice the oversized hoodie hanging off your frame. Chris's hoodie. He knew it immediately; because he'd seen Chris wear it more times than he could count during team gatherings. As he saw it a strange feeling settled heavily in his chest.
And something dangerous flashed across his face. Jealousy. Unfiltered. and he wanted to rip it off you and wrap you in his own clothes.
You stared at him with utmost confusion which plastered over your brows and eyes, "...Leon?"
“Am I dreaming?” You mutter to yourself while pinching your cheek..
Despite everything, Leon's gaze softened. Then he moved closer to you and crouched down in front of the couch, one knee touching the floor while the other remained bent. His hands stayed loosened at either side of him, as he steadied himself, looking absurdly like he was about to propose.
"No, you're not dreaming," he said softly, before reaching for your hand and squeezing it slightly. Your chest warmed at the sensation of his skin against yours.
Fuck, you were still drunk, as you noticed all the absurd things about him the realization hit you instantly knocking the air straight out of your lungs.
Just as you were about to say something, Chris appeared in the living room and muttered "Today is really the worst," he said, and glanced between you and Leon, and rapidly losing what little patience he had left and with a heavy sigh, he turned on his heel and headed for his bedroom.
A second later, the door slammed shut behind him, leaving the two of you alone in the suddenly very quiet living room.
For a brief moment, Leon glanced toward the closed bedroom door before turning back his attention to you.
The second your eyes met his, and your breath caught instantly.
The alcohol suddenly felt far less effective, as his blue eyes held yours effortlessly, making it impossible to look away.
For a long second he remained crouched in front of you, close enough that your heart began to betray you. One of his hands was still wrapped around yours, warmly and squeezing it tightly, “What are you doing here?” you asked, your voice quieter than intended.
His jaw tightened slightly. Leon let out a slow breath before finally releasing your hand. For a second, disappointment over you thought he was about to stand. Instead, he reached up and gently cradled your face and you felt a shiver run down your spine, “I spent three hours looking for you.”
"Why?” You breathed.
"Because you disappeared." He replied, his eyes intently on you.
You looked down at your hands, unable to hold his gaze any longer. Your eyes slipped shut, and suddenly the alcohol seemed to catch up with you again, wrapping around your thoughts and loosening the walls you'd spent hours trying to keep up. A small, tipsy smile tugged at your lips, "I was upset," you admitted quietly.
“Figured.” His words came out sharper than intended.
Then all the frustration you'd been carrying finally spilled over, and a small frown settled on your face as you looked at him. "Why..." you began, gently taking his hands from your cheeks and setting them aside. You pulled your legs up onto the couch, crossing them as your fists curled tightly at your sides. "Why do you do this...?"
Leon frowned, his brows drawing together as he finally let his hands fall back to his sides. A familiar heaviness settled in his chest. “Why do I do what?”
"Why does it always have to be Ada?" You asked, letting a bitter laugh escape your throat.
His entire body stilled at the name, and instead of getting angry: something close to amusement settled in his chest, because why were you bringing her up? But he didn't say anything, instead he just looked at you, hoping you would continue, because he was as confused as a man, who was asking for directions in new city.
"You always throw yourself into danger for her." You continued.
"I do not." Leon said confidently.
“You do!” Your voice cracked at the last syllable, "I see it every damn time!"
Leon stared at you in disbelief as you grew more agitated with every word.
"You shielded her when the floor collapsed," you said, your voice rising despite yourself. "You didn't even hesitate. You didn't care if you died or if something happened to you!" By the time you finished, you were breathless.
For a moment, Leon simply looked at you, then something in his expression shifted, the confusion disappeared, replaced by a sudden softness, as though understanding had finally dawned on him.
And somehow, that only made you angrier. Your throat tightens despite yourself as you feel the tears starting to form behind your eyelids, "Why couldn't it have been me?" you asked bitterly, and closed your eyes tightly.
The question finally slipped, and you knew it was too late to take it back.
Fuck it.
You finally asked what has been sitting over your chest for months.
The room went silent, and only sound was your and his breathing in the quiet of the room, Leon's breath caught at your question. "What?"
"Forget it." You said looking away, but his hands reached up and he held your chin with gentle firmness before making you look at him, "no”, he sighed impatiently, “what did you just say to me?" His voice was immediate.
Fuck it, if he wanted to know that bad, then you might as well as tell him, "If you're always willing to risk yourself for her..." Your throat tightened again, "Why can't it just be me?"
For a second, Leon simply stared at you. Then his expression shifted into something almost horrified, as though he couldn't believe what he was hearing anymore.
Before you could say another word, he shifted and settled onto both knees in front of you, his hands immediately rising to cradle your face between his calloused palms, and this time he didn't let you pull away. And the warmth of them made your breath catch, because they were undeniably gentle against your face, even after being rough from years of training and fighting, yet they were impossibly gentle against your skin, grounding you in a way nothing else had all night.
Holding your gaze Leon smiled softly, as if it were the only thing that mattered in this room, or the world then he shook his head frantically. "No, no, no," he said quietly, but firmly. "You've got it all wrong, sweetheart.”
"Sweetheart." Sweetheart.
The nickname settled deep into your veins and spread through you like blood itself, warm and impossible to ignore. It wrapped around your heart, slipping past every chamber of it. For a moment, that single word drowned out everything else.
But then his next words caught up to you.
You've got it all wrong.
Your brows pulled together because What did he mean, you had it all wrong?
You stared at him, as confusion cut through the haze of alcohol and your heart pounded painfully against your ribs. Because from where you were sitting, nothing felt wrong. You had seen it with your own eyes. You had watched him throw himself in front of Ada without a second thought. You had watched him choose her.
So what exactly had you gotten wrong?
"It has always been you," he finally said, the words coming out rough, as though they had been buried inside him for far too long. "Always. The minute I saw you."
Your breath caught in your throat, confusion still written all over your face. Seeing it, Leon let out a quiet laugh, one that sounded both sad and fond at the same time.
He shook his head slightly, his thumb brushing against under your eyes softly as if he still couldn't quite believe this conversation was happening. As if, after all this time, you genuinely had no idea. "I thought I was being obvious."
Your jaw dropped, and you swallowed loudly, "Obvious?"
"But you saved Ada today."
"I would do that for anyone, Ada isn't special." You knew that, but your heart didn't let you believe it, stupid. You knew.
Then seeing your spiraling eyes, he shifts closer to you with the help of his knees and continues, “what scared me was if you fell with me, you would get hurt.”
You freeze completely at his words, then Leon groaned loudly looking completely exasperated with himself. "I thought you knew."
"Knew what?" You asked way too quietly.
His blue eyes locked onto yours, as he finally opened his mouth and his throat bobbed up and down before he finally said, "That I love you."
The world stopped entirely as he said it, and every coherent thought left your mind and the little alcohol that was left in you, drained down into the floor beneath.
You felt completely sober and he squeezed your face gently, "I should've told you." His voice softened again. "I should've made it clear." He continues, "I'm sorry." The sincerity in his voice destroyed you completely, and your heart burnt against your chest as if someone reached inside you and lit it with fire.
Then Leon leaned forward, while his hand stayed still on your face, then finally he looked at you, to see if you would pull away, instead you stayed there, and finally he leaned and let his lips brush your forehead softly, just as he do a shiver ran down your spine, then he rested his forehead against yours.
"Leon—" you start, and he immediately shakes his head. "Don't give me an answer right now," he said quietly. "Think about it. Sleep on it. Tell me when you're certain."
"Leon, shut up," you breathed.
Then he pulled away just slightly then his brows lifted in surprise, but before he could say anything else, you continued. "I love you too." The words hung in the air between you.
And Finally, they were out. The truth you'd been carrying around for so long, the feelings you'd tried to ignore, deny, and bury. The moment you said them, a weight seemed to lift from your shoulders, leaving you feeling strangely lighter.
Leon simply stared at you, as if he couldn't quite believe what he'd heard. "What if you change your mind tomorrow?" he asked softly, you leaned towards him and pressed your lips onto his softly before pulling away, "Won't happen." You said firmly, then he rested his forehead against yours and there wasn't a trace of hesitation in your voice, and somehow, Leon knew you meant it.
Something warm unfurled inside his chest at your words and it spread through him like a wave, washing away months of uncertainty and longing. For the first time all night, he allowed himself to believe it was real.
Finally, a soft smile tugged at his lips. "God I used to dream about this moment.”
Then before you could say anything else he said, "C'mon." and he finally pulled himself away from you.
You looked completely confused by what he'd just said. "What?"
Leon stared at you for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh. "I'm taking you back to your home."
Your brows furrowed at him, "I am home."
"This is Chris's home," he pointed out.
"Right." The realization hit a second later.
God.
You'd somehow forgotten that minor detail entirely. A look of embarrassment flickered across your face as the alcohol continued to wreak havoc on your thoughts.
Leon, meanwhile, couldn't help the faint twitch at the corner of his mouth. Slowly, he removed his hands from your face and rose to his feet. Then, without a word, he reached down removing the blanket from your lap and throwing it aside on the couch and then he carefully helped you up, steadying you when you swayed slightly the moment you stood.
The room spun slightly and his arm wrapped around your waist, steadying you. And without another word he removed his jacket from his torso and draped it around your shoulders.
Then he looked down at Chris's hoodie, his jaw ticking in jealousy, “You can give him his hoodie back tomorrow.”
You laughed at his absurd comment the sound made something warm appear in his expression.
A few minutes later, he was getting you settled into the passenger seat of his car, after letting you settle, Leon pulled out his phone, and texted Chris.
Leon: Thanks for taking care of her.
A few seconds later Chris replied with a single thumbs-up emoji.
Leon stared at it, then snorted slightly. “Grandpa.” He said and a grin appeared on his lips.
But then three-dots appeared again on Chris's chat and Leon's phone buzzed in his hands.
Chris: If you hurt her again, I'm breaking your jaw.
Leon sighed, at his text because he knew it was fair of him to do so.
“You won't get the chance.” He replied back to him.
Chris saw it immediately but didn't reply this time.
And after checking his phone for the last time Leon put it away on the dashboard of his car, and glanced over at you being half asleep beneath his jacket, and then he turned his gaze at the road and started the engine, with a stupid smile on his face.
Because, for the first time that day, his chest felt lighter as he realized, you were finally his and he was yours.

Summary - Waking up beside your husband: Leon, every morning was a feeling not even the seven heavens above could compete with.
And as you lay there beside him, watching the quiet rise and fall of his chest, all you could feel was utterly enchanted by beautiful scene before you.
WC : 1.3k
As soft morning light filtered through the blinds of your bedroom, brushing your skin in pale gold, your eyes slowly fluttered open.
And a sleepy sound escaped your lips as you turned your head toward the bear of a man sleeping beside you.
Leon was literally completely out of it.
And somehow that made you far too aware of him. Then you rolled over on your side, beneath the blankets, taking your time as you admired him.
God. He looked gorgeous like this. His messy blond hair had fallen across his forehead during the night, stubborn strands sticking out in every direction.
His soft brown freckles decorated his pale skin, scattered across his nose and cheeks like tiny constellations. And you smile faintly as you notice his nose scrunched lazily before relaxing again, while his ridiculously long lashes rested against his eyes.
You groaned at the sight, then your eyes traveled to down to his lips and you were actually shocked; because of how good they looked at first thing in the morning. You simply stared at them for a bit and the sight before you made your heart swell pleasantly against your ribs.
And a soft hum escaped you as you reached across the duvet and gently brushed your fingers against his cheek, tracing his skin softly.
But of course he didn't react.
And that alone gave you a beautiful idea.
Your smile widened as you leaned over him, your gaze lingering on his sleeping face for a moment longer.
Then, overcome by a sudden wave of what could only be described as cute aggression, you pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, letting your lips linger there briefly before pulling away.
A fond smile tugged at your lips, and you leaned in again, pressing another gentle kiss against the side of his temple.
He doesnt move.
So you kissed his cheek, and a giggle bubble up your chest. Then slowly you pressed your lips on his nose.
"God, Leon you're so pretty."
Then his jaw.
"My husband." You smiled and murmured against his skin.
Though still nothing, so you pulled back a bit, Leon wasnt making any noises except few snore that sounded way too fake.
You narrowed your eyes suspiciously at him, because he was way too still and there was absolutely no way Leon Kennedy slept this deeply.
Determined now, you gently brushed your fingers through his hair before trailing them down his arm, slowly tracing the muscles beneath his shirt.
Goosebumps rose over his body as his breathe deepens but he doesnt wake.
"Uh-oh you are gonna play this game, hm?" you whispered and poked his cheek.
He was still-still.
Then you cradled his face before squishing it slightly. Your eyes narrowed further at him and you playfully hum, “Guess I could bite him now.”
Finally, the corner of his mouth twitched upward, the skin around his eyes crinkling slightly even though he still refused to open them.
The moment you caught it, you immediately sat upright, a betrayed smile spreading across your face. "You're awake." you accused and in same breath you gasped dramatically. "You are a terrible actor!"
But still he plays pretend and lies still, then slowly sighing you lean closer to him, "Leon."
The next thing you knew, a strong arm slipped around your waist. You barely had time to let out a startled squeak before the world tilted beneath you.
In one smooth motion, Leon pulled you down onto him, and suddenly you found yourself sprawled across his chest. "Leon!" you yelped, gripping his shoulders as his laughter rumbled beneath you.
"You were saying?" He chuckles deeply, his words vibrating in your chest.
"You were pretending to sleep!"
"You kissed me like twelve times." Leon grins.
"You counted?"
"I counted every single one."
Your face immediately warmed, as heat spreads across your chest and the traitor only looked pleased with himself.
And you notice his one arm remained securely around your waist while the other settled behind his head. His eyes were still heavy with sleep, yet amusement danced inside them.
"You look very proud of yourself," you giggled, rubbing your chin lightly against his chest as you settled more comfortably on top of him. The motion only seemed to make his smug expression grow wider.
"I am." He mumbled.
"For what?"
"Catching you." Leon teased as he rubbed his chin across your hairs, making you giggle again.
Then as you gaze up at him, his smile softened a moment later, and his eyes slothfully locked on yours, like he was seeing something worth millions.
Your heartbeat stumbled at his softened reaction. "What?"
For a moment he simply looked at you. Then his hand came up, brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
His expression turned unexpectedly gentle and he whispers with a smile, "When I look in your eyes," he paused then takes a big deep breath before continuing, "I see the entire galaxy reflecting back at me."
Your breath get caught in your lungs again, "Wow."
The smug smile returned instantly on his face. "Wow?"
"You are so cheesy first thing in the morning," you teased, though your heart was already betraying you, drumming frantically against your chest as warmth spread across your face.
"I was being romantic," he pouted, his lips jutting out ever so slightly as he looked at you with exaggerated offense.
You mumbled against his chest. "Fine, fine... it made my heart stutter."
Leon chuckled softly at that before pressing a kiss against your temple.
Then he rested his chin lightly atop your head as you settled more comfortably against his chest. Your own chin found its place on his shoulder while his arms remained securely around you.
You stayed like that, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat echoing beneath your ear.
After a while, you glanced up at him and found his eyes closed, a peaceful expression settling across his features.
A small smile tugged at your lips at the sight. For all his toughness, Leon was an absolute softie when it came to you, and moments like these reminded you of that more than anything else.
For a while you just stayed there tangled in each other as morning sunlight continued to spill across the room.
While the blankets tangled between your legs.
You felt so comfortable lying on top of him that it genuinely felt as though you were resting on a cloud.
As the two of you gradually relaxed into the quiet of the morning, you tilted your head upward, your chin brushing lightly against his chest. "When did you wake up?" you asked, letting out a soft sigh against his skin as you looked up at him.
Leon didn't even open his eyes this time, instead he hummed and replied, "When you were staring at me."
You laughed shaking your head and lifted your head to look at him. "You were awake at that point?" you asked, disbelief and amusement slipping into your voice.
"You know when you stirred I though you were going to be awake and I can't sleep when you're not near me. Can't help it, baby," he said, his eyes softening as he looked at you.
A quiet sigh escaped you at his words, and you melted further against his chest, feeling strangely safe there, almost as if you were being held by an angel, instead of Leon.
The sound you made earned another kiss against your temple. Then Leon pulled you even closer against his chest, his arms tightening around you as though he had no intention of letting go anytime soon.
Absentmindedly, your fingers found his biceps, tracing lazy circles over them while you settled comfortably against him.
Neither of you made any effort to leave the warmth of the bed, content to remain tangled together in the quiet comfort of the morning. Because after all, some mornings were simply too good to rush.
Summary: In a quiet moment, you give Leon a ridiculous piece of advice. The real question is: will he actually take it… or will you end up regretting it?
Note : this one shot was on my mind for the longest time and I was like today i need to turn it into one shot and here I am , ngl I was laughing my ass of while writing it xD btw middle reaction is of leon, AFTER HE GOT tired of reader's bullshit, aka US.
“You know,” you said casually from your spot on the couch, eyes narrowing thoughtfully toward Leon as he stood in the kitchen wearing nothing but loose grey pajama pants looking ridiculously attractive, “your chest is honestly getting ridiculous.”
Leon blinked slowly from where he stood in the kitchen making coffee, completely stopping mid-motion as confusion immediately crossed his face. “…Excuse me?”
“I’m serious.” You pointed dramatically toward his chest, “Those things are becoming bigger.”
Leon looked down at himself instinctively following your fingers, before looking back at you with the most exhausted expression imaginable. “What things?”
“Your boobs.”
Then Leon let out the slowest, most offended sigh you had ever heard in your life before walking over from the kitchen toward the couch. “They are not boobs,” he said firmly.
“They absolutely are.” you argued, a mischievous glint sparkling in your eyes.
“They’re called pecs,” Leon said finally stopping in front of you, trying very hard to sound serious, but completely failing as a smile started appearing on his face.
“Mhm.” You nodded seriously. “And I think they need support.”
Leon stared at you for a solid five seconds, before exhaling sharply through his nose, “You’ve officially lost your mind.”
“No, listen,” you continued while trying not to laugh. “Your shirts are fighting for their lives everyday to hold them together.”
Leon rubbed one hand over his face tiredly, as he stared at you in disbelief, “You cannot be serious.”
“Oh, I’m incredibly serious.”
“You’re insane.”
“You need a bra!” you blurted out with complete seriousness, sounding more serious than you had ever sounded about anything in your entire life.
Leon actually snorted, “A WHAT?”
“A bra.” You repeated, while smugly smiling.
“The fuck, no way.” Leon said, shaking his head.
“Yes. You definitely do.”
Leon pointed at you immediately, narrowing his brows at you, “Absolutely not.”
But ten minutes later, after all the arguments Leon had finally given up.
“You look beautiful,” you whispered as you tried very hard not to collapse into laughter as you looked at him standing in the living room in complete humiliation.
Leon looked one second away from committing a felony. “This is humiliating!” he complained immediately, his ears turning red as a faint blush spread across his face.
“No,” you corrected while circling him slowly like an art critic admiring a masterpiece. “This is fashion.”
Leon was currently wearing one of your black sports bras stretched tightly across his chest, and unfortunately for him, it fit him suspiciously well.
Which only made this worse for him, and finally, you couldn’t hold it in anymore. And a loud laugh escaped you as you doubled over slightly, clutching your stomach while it started aching from laughing too hard. Tears gathered in the corners of your eyes as you tried and completely failed to calm yourself down.
Meanwhile Leon stood there still wearing your sports bra staring at you with the most betrayed expression imaginable. “You’re crying,” he said flatly.
“That makes it worse!” you wheezed instantly before laughing even harder. “You look so pretty,” you choke out between your laughter.
“I’m taking it off.” he says unimpressed.
“No!”
“Yes.”
“You promised to commit to the bit!”
“There was no bit!” Leon argued immediately. “I was manipulated.”
“You agreed willingly.”
“You were laughing like a maniac!”
“you said you were doing this because you love me.”
Leon froze for half a second at that, then narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “…That was emotional manipulation.”
“But did it work?”
“I hate you,” he muttered while glaring down at himself, but a small smile appeared on his lips anyway.
“No you don’t.”
“I absolutely do.”
You roll your eyes at him and say pointing at his covered chest, “They look supported.”
“I did NOT need that.” he says groaning, and continues “I am a fucking federal agent.”
“but now, you look,” you said proudly, “a pretty federal agent.”
Leon groaned loudly while you burst into laughter again. “I cant believe i let it happen” he says a small pout appearing on his face.
“But you still wore it.”
“Because you made me!” Leon argued immediately.
“But you could’ve just refused.”
Leon opened his mouth to argue again before suddenly stopping himself. Then quietly, almost accidentally, “Well… I couldn’t,” he admitted.
You blinked at him. “Why not?”
Leon’s face immediately turned even redder somehow, he actually looked like a tomato, as he looked away from you for half a second before muttering under his breath, “Because I am weak when it comes to you.”
And that was the truth, or atleast the half of it because he had actually agreed to wear it, mostly because you had laughed yourself breathlessly trying to convince him, while also giving him your most innocent eyes, and Leon being devastatingly weak when it came to you, eventually gave in with the expression of a man accepting death. Now he stood in the middle of your apartment looking deeply betrayed by life itself while you admired your own work.
Silence, your entire brain stopped functioning instantly after he said it and you took a minute to process before you start, “Wha–?”
“I hope the earth swallows me right now!” Leon groans cutting in immediately. “Please just don't mind what I said.”
“Fine. I’ll let it go… for now,” you agreed, mostly because you had already bullied that poor man enough for one night. Still, another bottled-up laugh immediately threatened to escape you, and you quickly tried covering it with a fake cough instead.
Unfortunately, Leon noticed instantly, and slowly narrowed his eyes at you, sending absolute daggers your way while you failed miserably at looking innocent.
“You know,” you mused thoughtfully, “you kinda fill it out better than me.”
Leon narrowed his eyes instantly. “Careful.”
“Oh my God.” You gasped dramatically. “Are you blushing?”
“I’m taking this off.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“You have to wear it longer.”
“For what purpose?”
“research.”
“There is no research happening here.”
You walked closer then, still grinning uncontrollably while adjusting one of the straps on his shoulder dramatically. “There,” you murmured proudly. “Perfect fit.”
Leon looked down at you with the most long-suffering expression imaginable. “You are enjoying this way too much.”
“A little.”
“A little?”
“Okay a lot.” you admitted, and stick your tongue out at leon.
Leon finally laughed softly despite himself, shaking his head while one hand settled automatically against your waist. “You’re impossible.”
“And you wore it because I make you weak.” you teased sweetly, fingers brushing lightly against the band stretched across his chest.
That made his expression soften immediately. And suddenly the teasing atmosphere shifted completely.
And Leon’s gaze dropped toward your lips briefly before returning to your eyes again. Then slowly, he reached up and hooked one finger beneath the strap before pulling it away from his chest and tossing it carelessly aside.
Finally free, Leon let out the most dramatic sigh of relief imaginable while glaring at you accusingly. “Alright,” he murmured quietly. “Fun’s over.”
Your stomach instantly flipped. “Oh?”
Leon stepped closer, to you that warmth immediately rushed through your chest. “Yeah,” he said softly, leaning down near your ear now. “Now let me remove yours.”
He said it so casually that your entire nervous system immediately exploded. Heat rushed straight to your ears, spreading across your cheeks until your entire face turned pink.
You squeeze your thighs tightly as he said it, staring at Leon in complete betrayal before immediately shoving his shoulder lightly. “Shut up.”
Leon only grinned wider at your reaction, clearly far too pleased with himself now. “Oh, so now you’re shy?” he murmured teasingly. “After emotionally terrorizing me for the last thirty minutes?”
“You looked funny!”
“And you look cute and flustered.”
“That’s not the same thing.”
“It kind of is.”
You groaned dramatically while hiding your face in your hands, which only made Leon laugh softly beneath his breath again before gently pulling your wrists away from your face.
“Hey,” he murmured quieter this time, still smiling while looking down at you, and leaning down slightly while pressing a soft kiss against your forehead, and you feel him smile against your skin, “You started this.”
Unfortunately, he was absolutely right.
But god help it you loved his silly ass.
And the way he was still gazing at you with softness in his eyes after your endless teasing, and your attempts to make him look ridiculous, somehow, in that quiet moment and in his softness, you knew he loved your silly ass too.

"Please... stay..." Leon’s voice came out strained almost broken: as if it was even hurting him in whichever realm he was in, his voice was barely more than a whisper as he tossed restlessly beside you, though his eyes remained tightly shut. "Please..."
A fresh sheen of sweat coated his skin, dampening his hairs and soaking through the collar of his shirt.
After a beat of silence as he stayed still his breathing grew even more frantic, his brows drawning together in obvious distress.
Your heart twisted painfully against your ribs as if trying to dig its way out of your chest, when you see him like this, "Leon," you whispered immediately, reaching for him. "Hey... I'm here. I'm right here." You instinctively threaded your fingers through his hair, trying to soothe him, trying to pull him back from whatever nightmare had trapped him.
But he didn't wake up, instead, he shifted again on his side, as a strained groan escaped him as his body tensed beneath the blankets.
God, you hated this. You hated seeing him like this. Hated how helpless it made you feel, knowing there was nothing you could do while nightmares held him captive.
You didn't know what he saw in those nightmares. All you knew was that he kept calling your name, clutching your torso mindlessly and pulling you tighter against him as if letting go would destroy him.
Even when pain stung through your body from the force of his grip, you never stopped him. You couldn't. Not when he held onto you like you were the only thing keeping him from falling apart; not when your heart barely held itself together when leon was like this.
And you hated every second of those dreams where he had to endure this alone. Hated whatever unseen thing haunted him enough to leave him trembling in his sleep, calling for you like he was afraid you'd disappear.
You wished you could tear those nightmares apart with your bare hands, annihilate whatever was hurting him, whatever had left wounds deep enough to follow him even into sleep.
But you couldn't. All you could do was hold him through it, whisper reassurances into the darkness, and feel utterly helpless every time another nightmare dragged him under.
"Please... don't..." Leon's voice cracked as he turned to your side wrapping his big arms against your waist. "Don't go..."
Your chest tightened all over again. “I won’t,” you whispered, your lips trembling as you said his name. “Leon... I’m here. I’m here forever.”
"I can't lose you..." His breathing hitched, as sweat dripped down his face onto the pillow, "Not you..."
A tear slipped from the corner of his closed eye. And that broke you. Without thinking, you moved even closer to him; lowering your hands and cradling his face against your palms. "Leon." His name came out trembling from your lips "You don't have to be afraid."
Another tear slipped free from his eyes, and your heart broke again; shattering itself in edged shards etching and stinging painfully in your chest and gently, you lowered your head and pressed soft kisses against his tears before they could disappear into his skin.
"Leon..." you whispered. You didn't know if he could hear you. You weren't even sure if the words could reach him through whatever nightmare had trapped him. But you said them anyway. "This nightmare... nothing in this entire world can separate me from you." Your voice dropped softer as you rested your forehead against his shoulder, your hand slowly trailing through his damp hair. "They can't separate what beats inside me. They can't separate what runs through my veins." A shaky breath escaped you. "And you, Leon Scott Kennedy..." Your fingers tangled gently in his hair. "You are the reason for my entire existence. Even my heartbeat doesn't feel like it's in my control when you're not near."
You leaned down and pressed a lingering kiss against his hairs. "I love you." Your eyes closed as you held him a little tighter. "I won't go." Then you press another kiss onto his damp forehead. "Never." Then slowly you slide down your hand and hold onto his trembling fingers.
Just then, as if he had heard you, his entire body jerked awake. Leon shot upright with a sharp gasp, breathing hard, but you didn't let go.
Instead, you clung to him like a koala, your hands instinctively wrapped tightly around his arms.
As your eyes darted on him; his eyes were wild and unfocused, darting around the room in panic. For one horrible second, he looked completely lost.
Then as his finally adjusted to the darkness of the room his breathing started to slow and his eyes drifted downards as he saw your hands gripping his; and then his face tilted towards you and he saw the concern written all over your face. "Hey," you said softly your eyes softening. "It's okay."
Leon stared at you completely lost then, before he could spiral back into whatever fear had chased him awake, or speak anything else that would panic him; you cupped his face and pressed a gentle kiss against his lips.
The movement silenced him instantly and a soft exhale escaped him. When you pulled back, your forehead rested against his. "I'm not going anywhere," you whispered.
His eyes closed for a brief moment and relief washed across his face so visibly it hurt to see. Slowly, he opened his eyes and his hands found yours. "You promise?" Leon asked so quietly; and in a voice you didnt recognize for a moment that was his.
You nod and gently squeezed his fingers. "I promise."
Hearing that Leon finally relaxed under you and the tension slowly left his shoulders.
His breathing finally slowed and when he settled back down beside you, he pulled you tightly against his chest like he needed the reassurance that you were real.
This time, when sleep finally found him again, it came peacefully. You held him close, tucked securely against his chest, clinging to him as though you could shield him from every nightmare waiting beyond the dark.
Slowly, your breathing matched his, and as you comfortably held him against you; it felt as though your ribs were his and his were yours; and finally two heartbeats finally rested within the same quiet rhythm.
Summary — What if Leon let you turn his face into a canvas for your lipstick stained kisses while secretly enjoying every second of your chaotic affection?
“You know what I want to do right now?” you asked suddenly, turning your face toward Leon; where he sat beside you on the sofa.
As those words escaped your lips the atmosphere around you softened instantly, the house carrying the quiet warmth of love tangled carefully with the lingering desire you both had for each other.
Leon looked up slowly from the news he had been pretending to focus on. “I don’t think I’m gonna like what you’re about to say,” he muttered, already sounding exhausted, though those stupidly pretty blue eyes stayed fixed on you anyway.
And suddenly, the noise from the television faded into the background, as a sly grin slowly spread across your face. Before Leon could even react properly, you climbed no not climbed, but jumped, straight into his lap, knees pressing into the couch on either side of him. A soft sound left him in surprise as your hands immediately grabbed his face.
The sudden action from you makes Leon look at you with that puppy doe eyes he had since forever, and his throat bobbed as he finally spoke, “why am I scared, you are gonna do something crazy?” Leon chuckled.
“Why dont you wait and see,” you breathed softly, biting down on your lower lip as a mischievous glint flickered in your eyes.
Then without waiting another second or giving leon another moment to ask questions you pressed your lips to his soft skin, first against his forehead, making his eyes widen in anticipation; then slowly you moved towards his cheek, pressing another one there, then slowly you smiled and kissed his nose.
“God, you are crazy,” Leon chuckled softly, and you feel his entire body finally relaxing beneath your weight.
That makes you giggle even harder as you press your lips; everywhere on his face again and again; while soft laughter keeps spilling from your lips between each kiss. “Leon…” you murmured dramatically, trailing another kiss along his jaw before pressing one against his neck. “Your .. face… is literally my canvas.”
“Jesus Christ,” Leon groaned, under his breath, trying desperately to keep his usual poker face intact, yet making absolutely no effort to push you away.
you noticed it immediately; and a small smile that slowly spread across your face at that. Because you knew. He loved this too. Loved the closeness, the attention, the ridiculous lipstick marks you kept leaving all over him while they slowly covered his face one by one.
You could physically feel him trying not to smile again. Which only encouraged you more. By the time you finally pulled back breathless from kissing him, your lipstick had completely smudged across his entire face; making you whistle in appreciation of the masterpiece before your sight, you see his cheeks, jaw, and even slightly near the corner of his mouth, covered entirely by your lipstick marks.
“You look ridiculously pretty right now,” you admitted, staring at him far too lovingly.
“Do I now?” Leon teased quietly, one brow raising as he lifted his hand and gently booped your nose with his fingers, making you smile even harder instantly.
For a long moment after that, neither of you moved. You just stayed there in his lap, breathing unevenly while your eyes wandered helplessly across the lipstick stains covering his face. The sight of him like this soft, ruined by your affection, letting you love him so openly nearly killed you.
And you knew Leon noticed it too. Because suddenly you weren’t laughing anymore.
You were just looking at him. Like he was something unbearably precious to you, and he was, he is, and you also knew he will always be.
And the way you looked at him after that… Jesus. There was so much love in your eyes it almost frightened you for a second.
Because beneath the lipstick stains scattered carelessly across his face, and beneath the tired blue eyes of Leon and quiet exhaustion he carried everywhere, he looked at you like you were something painfully precious to him. And somehow, that alone was enough to melt your chest into an entire puddle.
His gaze softened on you after that, lingering there without leaving even for a second, like he couldn’t quite look away anymore. Slowly, your fingers moved against his jaw, brushing gently over the faint smudge of lipstick near the corner of his mouth as warmth spread painfully through your chest with affection.
Leon kept staring at you with those tired, soft blue eyes, the kind that always looked a little dangerous and devastating at the same time. Then finally, his hands slid around your waist, pulling you closer against him like it was instinct, and a sudden sound escaped your lips at that; making you chuckle. “You done?” he murmured quietly.
“Never,” you teased, sticking your tongue out at him playfully.
A faint huff of laughter escaped Leon, and before you could say anything he leaned toward you, tilting his head slightly as he captured your lips in the softest kiss, it was slow; and intense that instantly made your chest ache.
Slowly, his kiss deepened, and a soft moan escaped your lips into his mouth making Leon groan too and his fingers instantly slid into your hair, fingers tightening, just enough to pull you closer against him, the kiss turned desperate for a moment, messy in the way only the two of you understood, like he was trying to memorize your every inch.
Then his lips moved against yours slowly then after a second even hurriedly, like even Leon himself couldn’t decide whether to savor you or completely lose himself in you. And when he finally pulled away breathing hard; he nibbled on your bottom lips, as he sighed a breath of relief and a faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, his eyes after became even softer than you had ever seen them before.
But still, he didn’t let you go, instead his grip on your waist tightened as he kept you firmly there, his arms wrapped tightly around you like letting go simply wasn’t an option anymore. “God,” Leon finally whispered, his voice rough and aching with the same love you had for him; “You’re mine. Forever.”
Your heart stuttered painfully at his words. And you smiled softly before leaning and pressing one final kiss against his mouth. “I am yours,” you whispered back. “Forever.”

The ambience of the college library was quiet silence lingered between the pages of books, while the hushed whispers of students filled the room, and somehow, it only made the feeling of longing grow stronger.
The smell of old books lingered in the air, wrapping around the space and settling into every corner, making the atmosphere feel both comforting and painfully nostalgic.
"Don't'cha think it's time you told her about your feelings?" Chris's voice rang in Leon's ear in a low whisper, making Leon sigh in frustration as he shot him a glare sharp enough to kill, chris just throws his hands in air in mock surrender, so leon just Ignore him, and return his gaze towards the notebook before him and clicked his pen repeatedly against the desk, trying to focus on what could only be described as his two hundred and ninth poem.
"No," Leon sighed. "You know how risky it is." he whispered the words back before finally turning his gaze toward Chris, who was sitting beside him.
Chris only bit his tongue trying not to say or perhaps push him off the desk. "It's been two years, Leon." Chris said putting his elbows on the desk in front of him.
"Don't I know it?, leon scoffs, finally turning away from chris and writing another verse of poem for you, the pen glided across the pages as if writing about you was the most natural thing, like sunlight falling on the trees, or breeze teasing the bare skin or truth of the person they hid.
The truth was, Leon knew exactly how painful it was to love you from afar. To write verses in notebooks instead of actual confession in front of you.
To pour everything he felt into notebooks that would never see the light of day, or at least that's what he thought, so he wrote what he felt, rather than saying the words out loud.
And, then he found himself wondering what could have been between you and him. Sure he knew the truth but that part of him kept wondering what if could have you completely?
Because sure, you were kind, beautiful, with doe eyes, and such soft features which honestly felt unfair every time Leon breathed near you. God he needed to get a grip on himself.
But putting all of it aside... Did you feel the same way for him? Probably not.
And thats wat Leon believed.
Because in reality, you were kind to everyone.
Thinking he was somehow special because of it; was honestly embarrassing. And what if he actually confessed? What if you thought the only reason Leon had ever talked to you, ever gotten close to you, was because he wanted something more?
The thought alone made his stomach twist in hundreds of knots with no way of untangling them, because it wasn't true.
He hadn't become your friend because he loved you. He loved you because you were his friend and falling in love was totally unexpected for him.
.
One of those reasons for falling in love with you back then was, Leon had been completely falling apart, barely holding himself together, as the pressure of university threatened to crush him, and Leon? He could not tell anyone, because he did not like being vulnerable, which made sense to him, Leon thought if he could not even tell you about his own feeling for years; how can he expect to open up about himself to anyone? and when everyone seemed to be busy with their lives, didn't know what was up with Leon, still you knew something was wrong, and you had been there for him, even with your own assignments, deadlines, and responsibilities, you still made time for him. You helped him study, listened when he needed to vent, and stayed beside him during some of his worst days.
It was such a small act of kindness, something you probably didn't even think twice about, but somehow it lodged itself deep inside Leon's heart.
Over time, that gratitude became affection, and that affection became something called: love. And now the feeling had rooted itself so deeply within him that, honestly, Leon didn't know how to stop loving you anymore. The truth was he would never want to stop even if he could.
And still, despite that Leon had hundreds more reasons not to confess, hundreds of reasons to keep his feelings buried where they belonged.
Yet somehow, none of those reasons ever stopped him from writing another poem about you.
"So, what's the count of this one, Mr. Romeo—" Chris began, finally deciding not to push Leon about confessing anymore. Unfortunately for Leon, fate seemed determined to make his life harder.
Before he could even reply, you appeared, and Leon immediately looked up with heart in his eyes, and letting the pen fall from his grip with a soft thud, while feeling everything he held inside burst out any second, still he kept himself in control but as he gazed at you he met your eyes with a bright smile of his own.
Your eyes crinkled at the corners as you greeted them, and for a moment, he completely forgot how to breathe, feeling his throat getting dry as you stood over them.
And god! It happened every single time. One smile from you and suddenly his brain stopped functioning.
"Hey," you said in a low voice, careful not to disturb the other students scattered throughout the library.
"Hey," Leon breathed back, a smile tugging at his lips, the single syllable coming out far rougher than he intended.
Fuck, he was a dumbass because, after two years of being friends, he still hadn't figured out how to act normal.
Then suddenly your attention shifted, straight toward the notebook sitting open in front of Leon, and your eye it suspiciously.
Leon's entire body tensed the minute he followed your gaze, for a second his entire life flashed through his eyes. Jeez, it could have been a disaster.
Your eyes narrowed immediately with curiosity, and before he could react, you leaned forward, extending your hands clearly, intending to snatch it from him.
No, absolutely not. Leon thought, but he was even faster, with reflexes born purely from self-preservation, he grabbed the notebook in front of him and shoved it way too quickly inside his jacket pocket.
The movement was so quick that it would've impressed a trained spy, and Chris behind Leon was actually quite entertained; he sat with a smirk on his face as he just sat there wondering how far it would go on.
You froze immediately, letting out a nervous laugh as suspicion crept into your expression. Your brows furrowed while you pointed a finger toward him. "What is that?" you asked, narrowing your eyes. "What are you hiding, kennedy?"
His heart nearly exploded inside his chest as he tried to come up with an excuse though on his tongue only thing remained was:
Two hundred and nine poems.
That was what he was hiding.
Two hundred and nine poems, all about you.
Chris immediately looked away, biting the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing.
Leon shot him a murderous glare before turning back toward you, his mouth finally forming a lie, "Nothing."
"Leon." That was all you said. Yet somehow, it was enough to make him visibly tense. He shifted nervously in his chair, his grip tightening around the pocket of his jacket where resided his notebook, as though he had been caught doing something he absolutely wasn't supposed to be doing.
He could practically feel the sweat forming on the back of his neck, and he gave it a little scratch. "It's just..." He cleared his throat and finally replied. "Grocery lists."
You stared at him, your jaw practically hanging open, because that was the dumbest lie someone had ever told you, and the dumbest lie you have ever heard.
Even Leon knew it was fucking pathetic.
"...Grocery lists?" you repeated slowly and exhaled sharply through your nose.
"Yep." Leon said confidently.
"In a notebook?" You raise your eyebrows at him, before flicking his forehead, and a playful smirk appears on your face.
"Ow." Leon groaned , and massaged it before letting out a chuckle which honestly meant ‘thank god’ she was distracted.
"Groceries… and they are so important that you're hiding them inside your jacket?" You pressed for the last time.
"Why aren't you in class?" Leon blurted out, immediately shifting the conversation before you could ask another question.
He was the dumbest man alive.
You glared at him for the obvious attempt at changing the subject before finally answering, and settling into the chair across from Leon and Chris.
Fuck.
Leon was absolutely fucked.
Because you weren't even doing anything. You were just sitting there, looking at him like any normal friend would, and somehow he was already drowning in every emotion he had spent two years trying to bury.
"I was looking for you," you said simply.
And just like that, his heart forgot how to function.
Chris scoffed loudly beside him, clearly seconds away from bursting into laughter. Leon immediately shot him a warning look, but it only seemed to make things worse. The bastard looked downright entertained.
Leon forced a smile anyway, even though he could feel himself, a second away to turn into a puddle.
Right. Now he thought about it, it was so silly of him because seriously? Groceries. He was stupid, god because of course he could not scream the fact that he had hidden over two hundred poems about you inside that notebook. Even if thats all he wanted.
Before Leon could say anything else, Chris suddenly stood up from his chair and immediately, Leon looked at him pleadingly, with ‘don't you dare look’ but Chris only offered him an apologetic smile before mouthing something about having to get to another class.
A class he probably didn't even have.
Then, without a shred of empathy he grabbed his bag and walked away, leaving the two of you alone. Very subtle.
’Motherfu–’ Leon rubbed his temple because Leon knew he was definitely having a conversation with him later.
Once Chris disappeared between the shelves, Leon let out a slow breath and leaned back in his chair. Almost immediately, his hand drifted toward the inside pocket of his jacket again, checking that the notebook was still there.
It was. Thank God.
"Why were you looking for me?" Leon asked, trying his best to sound normal, as he folded his hands in front of his chest.
"I need your help." you sighed thoughtfully.
Leon nodded immediately. "Anything."
His answer came so suddenly that it made you stare at him wide-eyed at his response, "I haven't even told you what it is yet." You shake your head.
"I know." Leon said, tilting his head and rubbing his nose.
"And you're already agreeing?"
"Yes, I agree with whatever you need help with."
The smile he gave you after saying that was so sincere that for a second you found yourself clenching your jaw.
Because why did he have to be like that?
So sweet.
So kind.
So... Leon.
You quickly shake the thought away before it could settle anywhere, and you turn your gaze away towards the shelves, finding the library books more interesting than it has been.
And as you sat across from him he waited patiently for your answer, then with a tired smile you turned to him, and your breath hitches as you find his earnest gaze already on you and somehow, sitting across him, with the warm library lights falling across his beautifully sculpted face and that stupidly sincere smile still lingering on his lips, you felt something unfamiliar stir inside your chest.
You didn't know if it was the warmth in the air or simply the effect Leon seemed to have on you, you couldn't quite tell. And you weren't sure you wanted to decipher that meaning behind it.
So you try to bury those thoughts away, because there was no way he would feel these weird emotions you were feeling.
So, instead you leaned forward across the table, lowering your voice conspiratorially. "We got assigned a project." You groaned dramatically and continued."We have to create a sculpture inspired by our muse and then write a poem explaining the artistic meaning behind it."
Leon nearly choked, because the universe really was testing him, "A what?" he repeated, immediately mirroring your posture and leaning forward across the table as though he had somehow misheard you. His brows shot up in disbelief while his fingers curled into fists onto the table as he swallowed.
You rolled your eyes, at his reaction, “well this is the project, create a sculpture of your muse and write a poem”, you repeated and sighed, "I was okay with art sculpture but you know I can't write poetry for the life of me," you chuckled and paused for a second, "But you're literally in a writing degree, so I thought maybe you could help?"
Leon coughed a little before tilting his head to the side but his gaze remained on you because god really loved doing this to him didn't he?
Fuck, and Leon was sure Chris would've paid money to witness this, to watch Leon suffer actively in front of you.
You pouted dramatically and dropped your forehead against the table.
Leon stared at you because if there was one thing Leon had accidentally spent the last two years doing, it was writing poems about his muse.
Who was currently sitting three feet away from him.
"I can't write poetry," you repeated miserably as you glanced up at him. "I mean, I can barely write an email without sounding like a malfunctioning robot."
"You don't sound like a robot,” Leon announced.
You rolled your eyes and let out a small laugh at his reaction. It was honestly kind of funny how he was trying to make you feel better about your writing, as if he genuinely believed you could pull this off on your own. "Anyway," you said, waving a hand dismissively before slamming your head gently on the table again, "you're literally a writing major. You're good at this stuff.” you said, closing your eyes.
Leon laughed immediately “good at this stuff” if only you knew.
The truth was, the reason Leon had joined a writing degree in the first place had very little to do with career prospects and far too much to do with you, because he had this idea of preserving things through writing, more specifically preserving you through it. Because he knew eventually people leave, breakup, move on, die. And one day he would die, and you would too, so he wrote endlessly, to capture your existence in the scriptures of his words forever in–the way you existed, breathed, helped people, the curve of your smile, maybe he knew it was obsessive but he liked knowing, that now when he died, you would exist for a long time, even after time forgets your name.
"Please help me," you pleaded, lifting your head, with that innocent smile of yours.
God that smile should honestly have been classified as a sheathed weapon.
"I already agreed." Leon grinned.
Your face lit up at once, and you grinned so brightly it felt like the sun was actually sitting in front of him.
And god help him, if he could be the reason you had smiled like that every time, Leon would've agreed to commit crimes if he get to see you like that.
.
.
The following weeks felt dangerously close to heaven, mostly because Leon spent nearly every day with you. Talking to you, you giving him your unfinished drafts, you talking about unrelated things, that Leon listened with utmost ‘focus’ because he could swear to lord he loved to listening to you--talking about everything.
It was perfect, it felt perfect, because that's all you needed, to be beside Leon, and in moments like this you started to notice how Leon made you feel and that thought was scarier than all.
Then as weeks moved forward; you both started meeting frequently.
Sometimes at the library.
Sometimes at cafés.
And now, somehow, whatever this was it had become Leon's favorite part of his life.
And now every afternoon Leon spent with you felt too short, every conversation ended too quickly, and every laugh you shared lodged itself deeper beneath his ribs.
He loved every second of it. Which was precisely why he didn't want the project to end. Because when it did, Leon knew everything would go back to normal. No more spending hours beside you in the art room. No more helping you with poems.
No more excuses to see you every day. Just the familiar distance he had spent two years pretending he could live with. The thought alone made something ache inside his chest. Still, Leon reminded himself that it wasn't over yet. There was still time.
A little more time with you. And if this was all he was ever going to get, then he intended to make the most of every remaining moment.
Then slowly after your classes, the two of you would disappear into one of the empty art room long after everyone else had gone home and you would quickly wear your apron and work on your sculpture while Leon occupied the seat beside you, claiming moral support because he knew absolutely nothing about art.
Most evenings just consisted of him watching you carve and shape the figure while offering the occasional useless suggestions that only made you laugh.
Leon spent most evenings like that watching you work on the sculpture. The funny thing was, you immersed yourself in clay the same way he immersed himself in poetry. And he loved seeing you like that; just watching you work, watching you focus.
It felt oddly intimate.
And he loved how you would lose track of time, completely focused on shaping details, while Leon sat nearby pretending he wasn't staring at you more than the actual project.
And honestly? He was reaching his limit. Because every day made it harder. Every laugh, every smile, every moment spent beside you only made the words sitting in his chest heavier.
Because he wanted to tell you. God, he wanted to tell you everything. Every feeling he had buried over the last two years, every poem hidden between notebook pages, every moment that had quietly carved itself into his heart. He was tired of carrying it alone. tired of swallowing confessions before they could reach his lips.
So one evening, while you stood beside the sculpture with tired eyes and clay smudged across your hands, Leon finally decided he couldn't keep it in anymore. His heart was lodged somewhere in his throat as he stood from his chair and walked toward you.
Step. Swallow. Step. Swallow.
Another step. This is it, nothing would happen. He thought.
As he finally stood beside you and you remained unaware, focused on your art work instead, everything suddenly felt too real to him, his breathing became ragged and god he felt like he was about to throw up because of the fact that he was seconds away from telling you how much he loved you.
How long he had loved you.
How every word he'd ever written somehow led back to you.
So he opened his mouth, finally: something to say, but then your hair slipped across your face, and you scrunched your face, and he swallowed hard and, just as he opened his mouth, mouthing ‘um’ and … you sneezed, shaking your head, before smudging the clay across your face, but you didn't care and kept working on the art before you.
The sound was so unexpected that Leon let out a soft laugh before he could stop himself. He swallowed again, because it was a ‘sign’ from the universe that maybe just maybe, it wasn't the time yet.
And just like that, the confession died in the back of his throat.
Then painfully every word he had been preparing to say dissolved before it ever had the chance to exist. And Leon swallowed them all down and, instead of saying what he truly wanted to, he reached forward almost absentmindedly and tucked the loose strands of hair behind your ear.
The gesture was so natural that neither of you seemed to process it at first. Then suddenly realization struck him, and he pulled his hand back as though the contact had burned him.
The room fell almost painfully quiet after that.
You immediately looked up from your work, your breath catching as you realized what had just happened.
And suddenly you realized Leon was standing far too close to you, close enough for you to notice how broad his frame was as it towered over you, close enough to see the way his blue eyes seemed to hold entire oceans inside them, close enough to notice the way he swallowed, like there were words trapped behind his lips that neither of you knew how to say.
For a moment neither of you moved, then Leon licked his lips, “sorry”, he murmerred , his chest heaving rapidly as you just stared at him then your gaze dropped towards his lips.
Fucking hell.
The room seemed to burn in the embers of a tension that neither of you acknowledged, and suddenly everything felt awkward.
Mostly because all you could think about was kissing him. The realization hit you so hard that it nearly made you step back.
Because friends weren't supposed to think about things like that. Friends definitely weren't supposed to stare at each other's lips and wonder what would happen if they leaned in just a little closer.
The thought was useless, and entirely unhelpful. So instead, you quickly lowered your gaze and muttered a quiet, "Thanks," before turning your full attention back to the sculpture, anything was better than letting Leon see the heat rushing into your face.
Leon just gazed at you in confusion before stepping back from you, but what Leon didn't realize was that you were completely red.
Because the truth was becoming impossible to ignore.
That you craved him too.
But for Leon; all he knew was you didn't.
But? The truth was? You wanted him.
You wanted him far more than a friend should.
But God...
What if he didn't feel the same?
.
After that day, silence became its own language between the two of you, and somehow settled into every afternoon spent in the art room, then in every shared glance, every unfinished sentence.
Somehow, it felt like the only thing keeping you close without forcing either of you to acknowledge what was quietly growing between you.
Leon spent those days beside you like a man carrying a secret too heavy for his own chest, while you carried one of your own.
There was another thing that no one knew: that the face which was slowly emerging from the clay belonged to him.
The moment you realized it, you stopped yourself from saying anything. At first you told yourself it wasn't intentional, but that lie lasted for five minutes.
Because you could not deny that every adjustment of the jaw, every curve of the nose, every feature you shaped with your hands only made the truth more obvious.
You were sculpting Leon.
Your muse was Leon. And because admitting that felt terrifying, you kept your mouth shut and promised yourself you would deal with it later.
But later became days.
Days became another week.
Then, in the middle of it all, you stopped working on the sculpture entirely.
At least whenever Leon was around. Instead, when he asked about the sculpture, you told him you wanted to focus on finishing the poem first. It wasn't entirely a lie. Because the poem did need work.
But the real reason was much harder to admit.
Because how were you supposed to explain that the sculpture representing your muse was turning into him?
No. You would tell him some another day. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. Maybe when you were brave enough, that's what you kept telling yourself.
The problem was that tomorrow never seemed to come. So you buried yourself in the poem instead. And during those weeks, you started noticing things about Leon that only made everything worse.
The way he laughed, the way his eyes carried the kind of loneliness that no one noticed, how he carefully edited your work without ever changing your voice.
The way he somehow always found the exact word you had been searching for. The way he never laughed when you doubted yourself.
Whenever frustration got the better of you and you threatened to crumple the entire thing up and throw it away, he would simply pat your shoulder and offer that infuriatingly gentle smile. "You don't need complicated words," he told you one evening while looking over another draft. "Just write what you feel."
You sighed dramatically and dropped your pen onto the table. "What if I don't know what I feel?"
His smile softened instantly. "Then start there."
You nodded and forced your attention back to your notebook because moments like that had become dangerously common.
And Leon hated how easy they were.
The comfortable silences. The way you always looked at him when you were thinking. The way you trusted him enough to show him every rough draft , your messy side and every terrible idea.
It made everything harder because every day spent beside you only made him want more. And because he wanted more, he was terrified of losing what he already had.
Then one afternoon, while the two of you sat surrounded by papers and half-finished drafts, you cleared your throat. "So..." You avoided his eyes for a second. "I think I'm going to work on the sculpture alone for a bit."
Leon blinked and the disappointment arrived so quickly it caught him off guard. "What?" he asked, and made a thin line of his lips, "Why?"
You immediately looked guilty because god leon looked like a puppy who was abandoned, "I just want to finish it myself." You quickly added, "It's not because of you."
Because how could you tell him? How could you possibly admit that he was your muse? That whenever you touched clay thinking of your muse it shaped him.
The truth was, something had been quietly brewing inside your chest for weeks now, growing larger every time you looked at him.
"I know," Leon said softly, offering you his ‘I am hurt' but I wont say smile.
God you knew that all too well, but the truth was for Leon that the words still stung. Not because he blamed you, of course he didn't. He knew it wasn't your fault.
Still, disappointment settled quietly inside him, and despite his best efforts to hide it, he couldn't help wishing for more of you, more of your art, more of your smile, more of everything you had.
But somehow the room felt different after that, and the next few days were spent apart more often than together. You worked on the sculpture alone while Leon focused on helping you finish the poem you gave him.
By then the final verses had started taking shape, and every line felt so real it almost frightened him. Because the poem wasn't about a muse anymore.
It was about him.
Every word carried pieces of Leon inside it. His kindness. His patience. His strength. His features. The way he made you feel seen without even trying.
The way he occupied your thoughts no matter how hard you fought it.
Leon read draft after draft, making small corrections and suggestions in the poem, never realizing he was reading your confession disguised as poetry.
Yet sometimes he would pause while looking over a page. A small frown would appear between his brows. And for the briefest moment, he would think that the person being described felt strangely familiar.
Almost like himself.
But it was delusional of him wasn't it? Because every time that thought surfaced in his mind, he pushed it away before it could give him an irreversible kind of hope.
.
Two weeks passed after that, and eventually everything began coming together.
The poem Leon was working on was almost finished, the sculpture was nearly complete too, and the project that had somehow become the center of your lives for the past several weeks was finally coming to an end.
And instead of feeling relieved, however, both of you found yourself oddly disappointed.
Especially, you, it felt like a goodbye to Leon and you didn't like it. Truth to be told, you hated it. Maybe it was because it meant fewer excuses to spend entire afternoons with Leon. Maybe it was because somewhere between shared coffees, late evenings in the art room, and endless revisions of your poem, he had quietly become your favorite part of every day.
because you fell in love with him.
When Leon asked if you could meet him at the library around seven in the evening so he could return your notebook, you agreed immediately.
He said he was finally done editing the last draft. You had considered showing him the sculpture that day too. It was almost finished. One final detail and it would be complete. And when Leon asked about it you made an excuse because every time you imagined his reaction, your courage abandoned you.
How exactly were you supposed to explain it? anyways, you could not so, like every other time, you promised him and yourself that you would tell him another day. And like a patient man he was, he agreed.
.
.
The library at seven was nearly empty, when you arrived there after your classes.
And you noticed smooth warm yellow lights glowed above rows of bookshelves while only few students remained across the room.
Leon arrived several minutes later looking rushed, papers tucked beneath one arm and his hair slightly disheveled as though he'd been running across campus. "Sorry," he said breathlessly, immediately placing the notebook into your hands. "I have to submit an assignment before the deadline, I totally forgot."
You barely had time to respond before he was already stepping backward toward the exit. "I'll be back in an hour," he promised, turning and glancing at you one last time.
You nodded to yourself, but too late, he was already gone.
For a few moments, you just stared at the empty space and when you went to the corner seat of the library, you simply settled and sat there staring at the notebook resting in your lap.
Because wait. You narrowed your eyes at it.
It wasn't your notebook.
It was Leon's.
The one he had spent weeks hiding from you. The same notebook he always shoved away the moment you got too close, the one he guarded like it contained state secrets.
You stared at it resting in your lap.
Part of you didn't want to open it. You knew you shouldn't. It felt invasive, like crossing a line you weren't supposed to cross. Besides, there was something strangely terrifying about it. If Leon had gone to such lengths to keep it hidden, then whatever was inside clearly mattered to him.
You should've left it alone. But curiosity has always been one of your greatest weaknesses. And unfortunately, it won.
Slowly, you lifted the notebook from your lap, your fingers tightening around the cover as hesitation lingered for one last moment. Then, before you could change your mind, you opened it.
The first poem made your breath catch. It spoke about someone's eyes. Eyes that felt painfully familiar. You frowned and told yourself it was a coincidence.
Then you turned the page and read the second poem describing a smile. Your smile.
coincidence. you told yourself again.
The third one spoke about helping them when they were falling apart.
Your fingers froze against the page.
No. No. No. You said firmly to yourself.
It can't be. There was no way.
Slowly, your heartbeat began to quicken, but you kept reading anyway and every page felt like another piece of a puzzle falling into place. Every page felt like Leon handing you years of feelings he had never spoken aloud.
Your breathing became uneven as you stared at the pages, and slowly the library around you faded into background noise. The words blurred together beneath trembling fingers as realization settled heavily in your chest, growing harder and harder to ignore.
These weren't random poems. They were about you.
And there were hundreds of them. Everything you did, the way you existed, your vision blurred despite yourself and tears gathered unexpectedly in your eyes.
You continued turning pages with trembling fingers until eventually you reached the final poem.
The last poem made your breath falter. because the ink still looked fresh, as though it had been written only hours ago, and somehow that realization made your hands tremble even more.
What the fuck.
And slowly you stared at the words, as the words started to reside inside you.
You started reading the last poem:
There’s an itch beneath my ribs
That can never be satisfied,
An insatiable hunger for love,
That feels like you,
Or perhaps is only you.
It whispers slowly,
Barely a breath,
"My eternal muse,
You are the reason,
I am this animal,
An addict,
A maniac,
Living barely on
The scraps of love
I gather myself,
From the glance I let on you.
My lungs are full now,
Flooded with light,
Nourishing, yet dissolving,
While my heart chokes
On the very feelings
It dug itself into.
Now the ocean is strangling
Me to my death,
A love like a vial of poison,
Brewed from tears
And bleeding wounds.
Still, I let myself fall,
On the the bed of swords,
And made a promise,
An oath upon the altar
Of the religion I built of you:
That I will love you.
Not forever, because forever can end,
But as something eternal:
My eternal muse,
My eternal wound.
Pretty words,
Wont suffice,
Because id tear my face,
And wear your name,
Stitching it,
Onto my every façade,
Whether you remain unreachable
Or never mine at all.
And still, you are my eternal muse,
My darling,
My soulmate,
In a world that exists
Beyond the death of us,
Or even our souls.
Now I am exiled from my own bones,
My flesh turning away from me
And toward you,
A danger to myself,
Yet I keep falling,
Into the ruins of a sunken Athens.
And the more I resist,
The more it grows,
Like a climbing vine,
Spreading beyond me,
Until it becomes you.
You. you read the last line.
The moment you finished reading the poem, the world seemed to stop.
You snapped the notebook shut and clutched it tightly against your chest, as though it were the only thing that existed in your chest.
The students around you disappeared from your awareness, the library faded into nothing, and suddenly there was only the notebook in your hands and the crushing realization settling heavily beneath your ribs. It was you. Every poem had been about you. And somehow, impossibly, Leon had loved you all along.
A broken sound escaped your throat before you could stop it, raw and guttural enough that you no longer cared where you were.
Your chair scraped loudly against the floor as you stood so abruptly that several students glanced up in surprise. Ignoring every stare, you hurried away, weaving blindly through the maze of bookshelves until you found a quiet corner hidden from view.
The moment you reached it, your knees gave out beneath you.
You slid down onto the floor between the shelves and pressed the notebook tightly against your chest.
Then you cried.
Your entire body shook with it, years of fear and longing finally crashing over you all at once. Because all this time, you had been terrified. Terrified of loving him. Terrified of ruining the friendship that meant everything to you.
Terrified that every feeling you carried existed only inside your own heart, unseen and unanswered. Yet here, clutched against your chest, was proof that you had never been alone in it. Every doubt you had buried, every hope you had forced yourself to silence, unraveled beneath the weight of those pages, and the realization hit so hard it stole whatever breath you had left.
And meanwhile, Leon had spent two years writing poems about you.
Two years.
Hundreds of pages.
Hundreds of chances to stop.
Yet he never had.
Your shoulders trembled as tears continued slipping down your face. Not because you were heartbroken, but because for the first time since meeting him, you realized that every look, every smile, every moment that had felt different wasn't something you imagined.
Leon Scott Kennedy had loved you all along.
.
.
An hour later, you had somehow managed to compose yourself, at least enough to stop crying.
The notebook though, it remained clutched tightly in your hands as you returned to your seat, though your heart still refused to calm down, so you tried breathing in and out. as you finally calmed down, and after every few seconds your eyes drifted back toward the entrance of the library waiting for that man.
Then finally, Leon appeared, into the doorway his hairs were messy, and he was panicked, as if he was searching for something. The moment he spotted you, he seemed to freeze for a heartbeat before hurrying toward you. His gaze immediately dropped to the notebook resting in your hands. And somehow that told you everything. “Did–" Leon started.
"You gave me the wrong notebook," you interrupted softly, holding the notebook out toward him. Before he could say anything, you rose from your chair and crossed the distance between you, stopping directly in front of him. The notebook remained extended in your trembling hands, while your heart hammered so violently against your ribs that you were certain he could hear it.
Somehow now the world around seemed smaller as if only you and him remained, the dim glow of white fluorescent lights fell upon leon sweaty face and his sharp features giving him an unfair glow up.
"Yeah," he murmured, and he extended his hands and grabbed his notebook from your hands before holding it close to him, for a second all the color drained from his face and the look of ‘she read it’ i am fucked, settled upon him. “Did--did you read it?” He said clenching his jaw before closing his eyes and sighing so hard that it made you flinch.
For a moment silence settled between you and him. “Yeah.” You replied with a faint flush spreading across your cheeks, and he chuckled nervously like the man who got caught in the act of blasphemy.
‘Fuck’, he muttered.
As you both stood there the library had emptied completely during the last hour. The evening had grown darker outside the windows, leaving only the warm golden lamps illuminating the endless rows of bookshelves.
Now it was just you and him.
So before your courage disappeared, you asked the question sitting in your chest. "Is it about me?"
Leon froze, the notebook tightened beneath his fingers, then his shoulder sagged in defeat and he nodded once. "It is."
The answer came so simply that it almost stole the air from your lungs and you swallow, "Why didn't you tell me?" You asked
A sad smile appeared on his face. "Because I didn't want to ruin what we had."
Your heart physically hurt because why was he like that, why was he too pure, too damn lovable.
Leon looked down briefly before stepping towards you, and reaching for your face by hesitatingly extending his fingers towards your face, slowly his fingertips brushed your jaw, too achingly gentle and you closed your eyes feeling his fingers against you, like he was afraid you might disappear if he moved too quickly, as he softly traced your face and finally cradled your jaw in his palms electricity shot through your entire body. "I know how insane it sounds," he whispered.
"No—", you started.
"You need to let me finish." Leon swallowed and cut you off immediately like he'd spent two years carrying these words and finally couldn't hold them anymore.
"It's pathetic, honestly." A broken laugh, bubbled in his chest before leaving his throat, "The way your smile turned me into this."
Your throat tightens at his comment and you feel his palms turn warm at his every comment. "You helped me when nobody else did."
His thumb brushed your cheek. "You listened."
Another breath. "You cared."
His voice cracked and he took in a sharp breath. "You remembered things about me that even I forget."
The words started coming faster after that. As though every poem or confession he'd ever written had suddenly become impossible to contain. "And every time I thought I was getting over it, you'd do something else."
Your vision blurred entirely and a deep water laugh settled into your bones.
Leon smiled looking embarrassed but he didn't stop, "I don't know when it happened." His voice softened. "I just know that one day I was writing about you."
A tear slipped down your cheek, and Leon immediately wiped it away with his thumb, before stepping closer to you, "Leon..."
He shook his head, “Then only thing I knew was that I was never able to stop.” and his eyes immediately found yours again.
Then he stepped closer, close enough that every remaining inch of distance between you disappeared, and your breath caught instantly in your chest.
He was so near that the rest of the world seemed to fall away, leaving only the two of you standing there in the quiet. Slowly, he rested his forehead against yours, careful, as though afraid you might break.
Your tears stilled where they clung to your lashes, and with your eyes half-closed, you looked up at him, feeling your heart pound painfully beneath your ribs. "What does it mean?" he asked quietly, his warm breath tickling your face.
The question sounded more directed at himself than at you. Then he smiled, and he asked another question, and you knew he wanted to say more so you just stood there, in the quiet of each other's presence. "What does it mean when every poem somehow becomes one person?"
You couldn't answer, and maybe Leon didn't want you to because he continued, "What does it mean when every future I imagine somehow includes them?"
His voice broke completely as he shakily whispered, “what does it mean?” he pauses, "When love itself becomes a person..." he whispered, and finally pulled away from you and shivered at the loss of his warmth against you.
But his eyes never left yours, and with a smile he finished, "...I don't think there's any saving someone after that."
As he finally said those words, you felt visibly shaken, maybe terrified, but thrilled, exhilarated even and all your nerves were tingling at the right spots and for a long moment neither of you looked away.
The silence between you felt fragile, stretched thin by years of unspoken feelings and quiet longing. Your heart pounded so hard it felt as though it was beating in your throat, blood rushing through your veins faster than you could think.
Before something inside you could fear the man in front of you, you finally gave in. With your heart practically breaking open inside your chest, you stepped forward again and wrapped your arms around him.
Leon inhaled sharply, and he wrapped his arms around your waist, and before either of you could lose your nerve, you reached up and pressed your lips against his. The kiss was soft at first.
For a heartbeat, the world seemed to stand still, and Leon flinched at first, shocked but then he kissed you back as desperately and smiled against your lips, the kind of smile that carried relief, disbelief, and happiness all at once.
One of his hands came up to cradle your jaw gently, his thumb brushing against your cheek, while the other settled firmly around your waist, pulling you closer as though he was afraid you might disappear if he let go.
And for the first time in what felt like forever, neither of you had anything left to hide, Leon smiled against your lips before one hand cradled your jaw while the other settled securely around your waist, pulling you closer.
"I love you, sweetheart," Leon whispered, his voice rough with emotion.
Your eyes burned immediately. A trembling laugh escaped you as tears threatened to spill again. "I love you too," you admitted softly, the words feeling lighter now that they were finally free.
When you finally pulled back, neither of you moved far. Your foreheads rested together, breaths mingling in the small space between you, then you both stepped back and as you looked at each other you realized both of your eyes were glistening, with love, tears and desire.
God you both probably felt like idiots right now.
Two idiots that were completely in love with each other.
Then suddenly you laughed. "Come with me."
Leon blinked at you, completely confused, "Where?"
"The art room." A nervous smile appeared on your face as you continued. "I need to show you my sculpture."
Confusion flickered across his handsome features but he nodded anyway. Then, without hesitation or before moving towards the art room, he pulled you into another tight embrace.
Which just felt right.
And for the first time in two years, neither of you had to wonder anymore what you were to each other.
because:
The longing was over.
The waiting was over.
And somewhere between two hundred poems and a sculpture hidden in an art room, two hearts and souls had finally found their way home.
• Leon and you are each other's first, most definitely. (First love, first kiss, first time sex) you know the drill, right? Like experiencing every mistake, every fight, and still being there for each other.
• Leon and you would be inseperable. Also he had hate days where he has to work overtime and he would be restless at work and wont be able to wait, until he comes home to you--his safe place, his only haven.
• Being with him just feels easy to you, you know why? Because he is the one who makes it easy, even if he is new to 'relationships' he wants to make sure you feels safe with him, and feel well provided for.
• Needless to say Leon would be clingy as fuck with you, without even realizing it, he would be texting you a lot, and every hour apart from you would actually be torturous to him. He wont even realize it though he is being clingy until someone else will points it out to him. But honestly? You won't hate it: of course you would not.
• Leon would also get flustered super easily around you so trust he could not hide for the life of him that he is in love with you or dating you.
• Boyfriend Leon would love when you play with his hair, and when you are having that mundane day and you are laying down on your back; he had simply crash on you, and he had put his head on your chest while his hands circles your waist and he listens to your heartbeat, talking about himself or you, and for him this would be the intimacy he has always craved.
• also! he would be deeply protective of you, he hates when someone tries to steal your attention he had pout, and ask questions like "do I know him?" , "who was he?", he had feel stupid for it too, because he trusts you so much , that feeling jealous makes him feel bad. But he cant help it because he loves you way too much, that sharing you is something he cant even imagine.
• Leon would love to tell everyone he is dating you, that you are "His girl", "His love", he would love to include you in every conversation with anyone because somehow it makes him feel so good, or even proud about it.
• Leon would be so caring and attentive as your boyfriend, he had take care of each and every one of your needs, he would not be shy about it either, like he is all about loving you loud, and if he could? He had scream on the top of world that he is in love with you
• Leon is the most loyal person to ever exist. Even when he is NOT dating you, or just had that little bit teensy crush on you that he would refuse to acknowledge--or say its just a phase even then his attention still would not wander, because that's how he is, once he actually cares about someone, no matter what he would not have a fickle heart, and somehow everytime you exist near him the world would fade in background.
• Once Leon starts dating you, God save everyone's ears because that man will not shut up about you. He'll somehow find a way to bring you into every conversation and sing your praises like it's his full-time job. And honestly? He becomes the most cliché partner imaginable, but who doesn't love that? He keeps your picture tucked inside his wallet, another one inside his phone case, and of course you're his phone wallpaper too. He'd save your name as "baby" or "my world", he'd absolutely wear one of those photo lockets with a picture of both of you inside, carrying you around everywhere like you're his favorite treasure: truth is? You are.
• Also! Leon as your boyfriend would absolutely keep track of your period cycle better than you do. A few days before it starts, you'd suddenly find extra pads and tampons stocked in the bathroom because he bought them in advance "just in case."
• When your period finally starts you would find favorite chocolates would somehow appear in the kitchen, along with snacks, painkillers, and a heating pad already plugged in and waiting for you. If your cramps were bad, he'd practically force you onto the couch, throw a blanket over you, and take care of the household chores without even being asked. And if you were in so much pain you could barely move? Leon wouldn't hesitate to take time off work. He'd spend the entire day hovering around you, making sure you ate something, stayed hydrated, and got enough rest, all while pretending he wasn't worried sick. He'd grumble the whole time about how you should've told him sooner that you were hurting, but his hands would be gentle when he tucked the blanket around your shoulders, and he'd settle beside you and stay right there until you felt better.
• Living with him is just a glimpse of how he is like as a husband.
• Leon would definitely help you in household chores or even do it before you could get a chance to do so, he had clean the dishes, mop the floor, because he is just like that, and he loves to provide for you in every way he can.
• And he would always make sure that you are comfortable enough to talk to him, that he is your safe place too like you are his.
• Honesty is something very important to him. He would not care if it would hurt less, or anything he had like to tell you things as they are.
• Leon as a boyfriend would surprise you in the smallest ways. If he got a promotion at work? he'd immediately buy you something nice, or that one thing you'd been eyeing for months but refused to get for yourself. He planned every date night down to the smallest detail, pretending he wasn't putting way too much thought into it. And despite all his complaints, he secretly loved watching cringey rom-coms with you, usually ending up more invested in the plot than you were.
• He would love to spend every little monent and night ins with you without any outer disturbance like he had build a small bubble for him and you: protecting you both from outside world.
• Leon would never push you for sex, he had wait, even if he want or love physical intimacy, if you are not ready, or want to wait till marriage? He had be happy to oblige, he had be patient with you, he would want you to be comfortable when you actually get to it.
• not to mention Leon would listen and pay attention to everything you tell him, and remember every little thing about you, because that's how he is, and with you all of it comes so easily.
• One thing about leon he had love to kiss you, at every chance he had get: you two are gonna be making out like teenagers, and its quite entertaining to Leon how even after months or years you are still that crazy for each other.
• He had boost your confidence about your body no matter how you look, like body shape etc, he had always make you feel beautiful and you will always believe it because you had feel the sincerity in his words.
• when Leon and you finally have sex, he is gonna make sure you are comfortable: he had be clumsy with his moves yeah, but he had make sure that you are feeling good too, I feel he had be unintentionally good too, like hitting the right spots without even realizing it. He is definitely going to love those little sounds you makes or the face when you cum, closing your eyes, your lips parting and you moan his name, as a loud sob, and he had thrust into you, and will forget you had already cum, but if you want to stop any moment he had pull out of you.
• First time sex with boyfriend Leon, would be a lifetime experience no because Leon would be so excited to get to feel you like that he would immediately cum as soon as he pushes his cock inside you, he had be embarrassed because how can he just cum at the thought of fucking you, lol and say something like, "ba-baby, i am--", "you felt so good", and you had just smile and kiss him mid-talk and then you would tell him its okay, you can start it all over again. And god then he would fuck you so hard that you would be seeing stars behind your eyes.
• eventually he would get better at fucking you.
• Leon would love to eat you out, even he is a throbbing mess himself, he had make sure, you cum twice on his face, he wont stop until you spray his face with your juices and your arousal drips from his lips towards his chin.
• he would love to try new things with you in the bed, he would be into mutual masturbation too.
• he would love when you take charge though, especially like you suck him so hard and you edge him , and he had whimper so hard that he is almost begging you to let him finish. He had actually be embarrassed because he is feeling so good.
• oh trust, he had love to do missionary with you, he would love to see you how you look when he is fucking you deep, when he is deep inside you.
• you would be his one and only happy place.
• Leon would have many nicknames for you few of them would be "love", "baby", "honey" , "sweetheart", "mine": his favourite tho would be "baby".
• Leon would love to stare at you whenever you talked, even if it was about the most random thing imaginable. Half the time he wasn't even listening anymore, just watching you. Then one day it hit him so suddenly it almost made him stop breathing. Holy fucking shit, I am in love with her. And it wasnt just a random crush but the kind that settles into your bones. The kind that makes you look at someone and think, I want to spend the rest of my life with them, that what leon would feel and that would be exact moment Leon would realize that he was completely fucked, because he was still young, but somehow he already knew he wanted you, and honestly? He could not ask for more. Because he already had everything in form of you.
