jumping off another confession i just saw - specifically the huge age gap fics with re9 leon and a 20-25 y/o reader are soooo fundamentally out of character for him! like listen, i get it, i'm a 25 year old woman and he's hot as hell. i'm not necessarily blaming people for writing the fics. but it is kind of annoying that there's so many of them, because leon would never be in relationship with an age gap that big no matter how much reader was throwing herself at him. he wouldn't put his sexual desires above the possibility of taking advantage of someone or keeping them from someone their own age that they could have a life with. he would see it as a disservice to the younger partner and like the other person said, he's self-sacrificing first and foremost! sorry for the huge block of text, it's just nice to see that others see how ooc the premise is, it's impossible to enjoy the fics as a result

After RE9, we have seen a huge influx of age-gap and ageplay fics. It is out of character for Leon to engage in this or take advantage of others, as we have consistently seen him put others before himself.

I really don’t get why a lot of fans are so adamant he smokes when he’s said himself he doesn’t smoke.

For some context to those who may have missed it: Leon declines the offer for a cigarette in the original Resident Evil 4.

The remakes undergo heavy changes yet they still kept in Leon refusing a cigarette.

He also makes this remark to Luis, when he asks for a cigarette.

Leon is shown to be drinking in the movies like Damnation and Vendetta, but not smoking.

@a-dsoagent has several different oneshots where people have submitted fantastic sfw ideas. If you only care about smut though, she does have that just not as much.

If you would like to request content from @rednnedy, she is currently active on Wattpad and Ao3. She does have a Tumblr page. You can read her oneshots there too, she's just not as active when it comes to writing.

Although @key201303 is concentrating more on developing their own Family AUs, they have acknowledged that they do take requests. They are just currently somewhat slow with them.

Finally, there is @thewolffairytaler, a sfw writer with some lovely oneshots of Leon. Although they claim to have been clocking out for the time being, I'm fairly certain they will be working on those because their inbox is open for the whole summer. I suppose we can inquire about their availability.

What makes me sad is that because of Leon’s popularity, the fics were smut is mentioned, or anything lime related, those posts easily gets so many likes and recognition. Meanwhile, with other writers who put effort into making him more canonically accurate and have more fluff, as well as plot content in it, dosen’t get much in comparison. Sometimes, they get under the radar, too. This makes readers claim that writers dosen’t care about character accuracy, which is fair, but those other writers exist. There just aren't enough people caring to search for it.

Smut fanfics garner the most attention and notes. It can be disparaging to other writers but hopefully Leon readers will be more open to engaging with non-smut fanfics.

Also, we encourage you guys to submit praise + recommendations for Leon fanfics and Leon fanart in our inbox as well! Give some love to fanfics and writers that are flying under the radar!

public service announcement: for anyone who was reading the following fics - 'controlled catalyste'....'the grey'....or 'regeneration protocol' on ao3. the author 'proclaimerofheroes' was found to be using gen ai to write all her stories and got exposed with a shitload of hard evidence. she was also plagiarizing published work probably because of the ai she used. that's why all the fics have been deleted from ao3 while her account remains. let that be a warning to anyone using it...you're gonna get found out sooner or later. so be honest/transparent about it so people can make informed choices in whether or not to support "your" work, or face a major exposure at some point.

Full disclaimer, we do look into AI allegations with concrete evidence via messages/sources and publish such confessions to keep the community informed. In this case, the writer was confirmed to be using AI and has since deleted their works on Ao3.

Once again, we would also like to reiterate that we are against AI and witch hunts but the reality here is that there have been multiple confirmed cases of fanfics created with the use of generative AI. AI works are allowed on Ao3 and should be tagged as such. It is up to readers to choose whether they want to engage or not.

listen man I like smut as much as the next person, but I swear the amount of times I’ve seen daddy kink leon fanfics where the words “dad” “dada” and any other form of that is wayyyyy too high, perhaps I’m just indifferent to this kink but it just feels weird to me

I’ve also suddenly been seeing a bunch of ACTUAL r*pey incest fics with him and like, they most of the time sadly aren’t tagged so I have to read the synopsis and then block the writer because I don’t wanna see that and then I don’t wanna read anymore because that grosses me out and makes me super uncomfortable even just seeing it

many of the people I’ve seen support it use the argument that “leon is fictional he’s whatever we want him to be” but I feel like that doesn’t justify romanticizing a crime and what has harmed so many peoples lives including my own, it’s just gross and I can’t get past that

anyways though, shoutout to all the leon series writers who make genuine, honest, awesome fluff and amazing stories and plot because you are filling my summer days with some of the best writing I’ve ever seen <333

It appears that the Daddy kink is very common across all smut fanfics in recent years. It is important to note that there is a clear distinction between the terms Dad/Dada/Daddy, etc.

Hopefully, writers can properly tag their works containing such content.

The discussion of romanticizing such topics is also important to have, especially in the fanfic space.

I don't understand why some of these fanfic writers even write about Leon. They don't seem to even like him as a character. Kindness and selflessness are core to his character, but they write him as this creepy abusive rapist. You fundamentally do not like this character and are reducing him to his looks. If you're into that, there are literal thousands of men that would be a better fit. Ridiculous that the MAJORITY of smut about Leon feels ooc.

Several submissions have commented on the characterization of Leon and how they feel mixed about the content, because writers can write as they please, but they find it difficult to find in-character Leon fanfics, especially when he is portrayed as a 'villain'.

As previously mentioned, we encourage people to send in confessions recommending Leon fanfic writers and artists. Hopefully, readers will be able to locate more in-character fanfics.

Sometimes, when I lay in bed at night, I wonder what Leon’s canonical hair colour is. Is it dirty blonde, or did it become brown over time, and he decided to just dye it blonde for preference? I figured that in the Vendetta film was when he started to experiment more with his hair and dyed it black. Or maybe he was so depressed that it reflected on his mood? I feel like every time his hair colour is different, it represents how much he has grown.

Fans have analyzed the remake mods and confirmed that Remake Leon leans towards being a brunette. The original character design sheet features more of a 'ginger' brunette, and throughout the games & movies, his hair color changes to various shades of brown/black and can even appear blonde sometimes.

It is interesting to wonder about his hair journey in addition to his character journey!
