ALFRED HITCHCOCK. Topaz, 1969. Collection of ten borderless press photographs from the set of the 1969 film. Seven photographs featuring director Hitchcock at work. Eight photographs with the stamp of the French news agency BEZ on the verso. Based on 1967 novel by Leon Uris, about a French agent who helps the United States uncover the presence of Russian missiles in Cuba. All the photographs in this collection depict the filming of Hitchcock's original ending, unused ending: a shootout between spies in the middle of an empty soccer stadium. After poor test screenings, Hitchcock would shoot two completely different endings, finally settling on tthe third one.
