What’s black, crawls, and has spikes all over?? A full-grown giant wooly bear! This is the common name for the larva stage of giant leopard moths (Hypercompe scribonia). These caterpillars curl up whenever they are attacked... or poked with a stick by some nerd in the woods 🤓 . . . My new friend was found on a sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua).
