I like how ppl want complexity but when there's something actually complex they just..fuckin ignore it. Bill n Micah r the victims of the "i want complexity as long as it's a cool dude with a sad story"
Cuz every time it's "Oh but Bill is mean, and racist, and a rapist!". Yeah, but he also didn't have a mom, had an alcoholic dad and watched him drink himself to death. And then he got abused and totally brainwashed by propaganda in the army. He never learned love, trust, friendship or true companionship. He desperately wanted the admiration but didn't know how to earn it because no one ever taught him how to move through this kind of life.
"Oh but Micah is a killer, racist and a rapist too!"
Yeah, but he also been born and raised in the family of generational killers, so that probably means that he saw someone getting murdered at a very young age, which kinda fucks up your brain entirely. He not only had to watch his dad commit crimes, but he also was forced to participate in them while still being a kid-teen. And he was growing up in the environment that strictly forbid any kind of feelings. He was taught that feelings is a weakness that get you killed. He was taught that there's no kindness in this world. He was taught that you just must lie and kill if you want to survive. He never experienced true love, friendship, trust, admiration or companionship. Same as Bill.
"Oh but Micah's brother!-" are you aware that everybody is affected differently? Sure. Micah's brother is better than him, he broke the cursed cycle of generational crime. But it doesn't erase everything that applies to Micah.
Also Strauss is another example. Ppl LOVE to blame him for everything. Cuz "Well he's been takin money from poor".
Yeah but he also been growing up in insanely poor environment, to the point where his dad SOLD his sister, to earn some money at least on food.
But sure. The complexity only works when it's Arthur watching his dad getting hanged. Right.
