Ginger glared at a fresh batch-i mean a burnt batch of cinnamon cookies. This was the fifth time she failed to bake something.
Christmas was nearly over and Ginger wanted to make everyone cookies as a goodbye present.
She wanted to make cinnamon cookies, especially as those were Cosmo’s favorite, but things kept going horribly wrong.
“Why can’t I get this right?”
Ginger sighed as she slumped down on a nearby chair.
She could always decorate cookies, no problem, but when it came to baking them, it was a whole other story.
“Hey Ginger!” A familiar voice called out to the cookie.
It was Cosmo, with his best friend Sprout beside him.
Ginger quickly got up and attempted to hide the burnt batch of cookies, but Sprout had already caught on.
“I smell burning…” He said.
“N-no you don’t…” Ginger said nervously.
Ginger felt tears forming, but tried her best to hold then back.
“Ginger, it’s okay! Me and Sprout burn things all the time!”
“Well, you do Cosmo. Not me!” Sprout laughed.
“I left the oven on ONE time!” Cosmo chuckled, playfully nudging Sprout as he giggled.
Ginger stared at the two, she was going to miss them so much..
She couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.
“I-I wanted to bake cookies for you all before we leave… But I keep burning them! This is the fifth batch and I can’t seem to get it right! And i’m going to miss you all! It’s so long till I see you again! And-“
Ginger continued to rant as Cosmo and Sprout watched her with sadness in their eyes.
“Ginger…” Cosmo walked up to his cousin and gave her a hug.
“I hate it too, the fact that you have to go. It’s so cruel. It’s so long. But, we WILL see each other again!” Cosmo weakly smiled.
“Why do I have to leave? Why can’t we all just stay?” Ginger softly sobbed.
“I wish we could change Delilah’s mind, I really do, but she’s…y’know, stubborn. Sprout crossed his arms, feeling sad, yet a little awkward.
Suddenly, Cosmo got an idea.
“Y’know, Ginger. I still remember when we were kids, I always used to do…something to cheer you up…”
Ginger thought about what Cosmo was referring to, and suddenly her stomach dropped.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about…”
Ginger slowly but surely backed away from the pastry, as he smiled with a hint of mischief.
“You know exactly what i’m talking about.”
Cosmo started walking towards Ginger, an out of character sinister demeanour surrounding him , as Ginger increased the pace.
Sprout looked on, confused.
“What is going on?” He wondered aloud.
Cosmo turned to Sprout, his smile beaming.
“I would tickle her whenever she needed cheering up, and by the looks of her icing, she needs a lot of cheering up!”
Ginger’s icing makeup had gotten all smudged from the crying, despite Ginger trying to fix it just now.
Cosmo suddenly dashed towards Ginger, who dodged like a pro and started running.
Ginger sprinted around the kitchen, with Cosmo following close behind her, giggling like a school boy.
After a couple laps around the kitchen, Sprout decided to take action.
As Ginger ran past him, he grabbed her arm and held her in place.
“Sprout!?” Ginger gasped, trying to break free from his grasp.
“Sorry Ginger, but Cosmo’s right. We need to get you smiling again!”
Ginger could do nothing but watch as Cosmo finally caught up to her.
“Woo, thanks Sprout!” Cosmo gave him a thumbs up, just before poking Ginger’s side.
Cosmo smiled as he gently but continuously poked her side again and again.
Ginger started giggling uncontrollably.
“Stahahahahp!” Ginger slammed her eye shut as she laughed, attempting to break free from Sprout’s grasp again.
“I’m barely doing anything and you’re already laughing.” Cosmo smiled.
Cosmo then started to gently tickle her stomach.
“EHEHEHEHEHE NOHOHOHO!” Ginger squirmed as she started to laugh louder.
Sprout and Cosmo started giggling as well.
“Aww shes so cute!” Sprout giggled, still half bewildered by the situation.
“It’s just nice not being the one being tickled for once…” Cosmo glanced at Sprout as he said that. Sprout looked away innocently.
Cosmo continued to jab at Ginger’s stomach, making her squeal with every move.
Sprout then had a sinister idea.
He suddenly let go of Ginger’s arms and started to rabidly scribble Ginger’s sides.
“AHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHO”
Ginger waved her arms about, attempting to push away the pastry and strawberry.
“Hehe jackpot.” Sprout laughed as he kneaded her sides even more.
Ginger laughed even louder, a rarity for the cookie.
“OKAYAHAHA OKAYHAHAHA I’M CHEHEHERED UHUHUP! STAHAHAHP”
Cosmo and Sprout abruptly stopped the tickling, giggling with the cookie as she slowly slid to the floor in defeat.
Ginger giggled breathlessly, holding her stomach to get rid of the phantom tickles.
“It got you smiling though!”
Cosmo chuckled, patting Ginger on the shoulder, before helping her up.
“I’m…gonna get you back…”
“Maybe next year, hm?” Cosmo smirked.
Sprout suddenly picked up Cosmo effortlessly and started squeezing his sides.
Cosmo burst out laughing as he struggled, trying to get free.
“Ginger get him!” Sprout chucked.
Ginger gently tickled Cosmo’s stomach, resulting in high pitched squeals.
“HEHEHEHEHE I’M SOREHEHEHY!” Cosmo wiggled frantically.
The strawberry and cookie cooed.
Luckily for Cosmo, the two had mercy and soon stopped the torment. Sprout let go of Cosmo and he fell to the ground, giggling.
“Oh my gosh…” Cosmo chuckled.
“I guess I deserved that…”
“Definitely.” Ginger giggled.
“Well!” Sprout exclaimed, clapping his hands together.
“Now all thats over, how about we bake some cookies together?”
Ginger and Cosmo exchanged glances, and turned back to Sprout with mischievous grins.
Cosmo than dashed towards Sprout with little warning, pinning him to the floor. Cosmo had surprisingly good strength, much to Sprout’s dismay.
“Ginger, get his knees! He has realllly ticklish knees!”
“COSMO I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU’D NEVER BRING THAT UP!?” Sprout cried, desperation in his voice.
“T’was a lie, sorry!” Cosmo giggled, as he started tickling Sprouts stomach.
“C-cohohosmohohohoohahahahahahaha” Sprout started giggling hysterically.
Ginger quickly ran up to the berry boy, sat on his legs and started to promptly scratch at his knees.
Sprouts laughter hit an octave as he squirmed, trying to break free.
“NAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA STAHHHP THAHAHAHAHT”
Sprout hid his face in shame as he laughed.
“Wow, you were right, Cosmo.” Ginger giggled.
“Hehe! It’s so funny seeing you laugh like that!”
Cosmo laughed as he continued scribbling all over his stomach for juuuust a little bit longer.
“SHUHUHUHUHUHUHT UHUHUHUHUHP!”
After a while the two let up and got off Sprout, who was still giggling hysterically. Cosmo and Ginger looked at each other, then suddenly started giggling themselves, all three of them falling into a heap of giggles.
It was a while since all three of them had bonded like this. The atmosphere was warm and bright, just like the good times.
“Goodness…that was…fun.” Ginger said, wiping the last remaining tear off her cheek.
“I think I needed that…thanks guys..”
Cosmo and Sprout looked over at Ginger and smiled.
“Sure thing!” Sprout beamed.
“It has been a while since I laughed that hard..” He blushed, which luckily for him, wasn’t very noticeable due to his…strawberry pallet.
“You’re telling me…” Cosmo smiled as he slowly got up from the floor, with the others following suit.
“Ginger, how about we make some cookies together? We could show you how to not set the place on fire!” Sprout winked.
“We could give them to the other toons!” Cosmo chimed in.
“Nah i’d rather we eat them, after that tickle fight…” Sprout huffed.
“How about cinnamon cookies?” Ginger suggested, a warm smile on her face.
“My favorite!” Cosmo beamed.
“Okay! A dozen cinnamon cookies coming riiiiigght up!”
And with that, the three foodies started preparing for a baking lesson filled with joyous melodies and laughter.
