There has been cases where men have tried to call themselves lesbians and invade the lesbian community. The argument "they wouldn't want to call themselves lesbians" is completely inaccurate. People who are partially male are still male. Someone who is partially male and is attracted to woman should not be using the lesbian label.

This is true, I’ve seen it happen.

Here’s the deal though, you’re talking about some pretty specific situations: this is someone who likely hasn’t come to terms with their own femininity and should not yet use “lesbian”. Two good examples of this are a closeted trans woman, and a (closeted-nonbinary) transmasculine person. These are both people who can be negatively affected by elements of coercive and normative internalization of toxic masculinity. Someone who is in one of these specific closets may desire in some ways to express their femininity by using the word lesbian without owning up to the underlying requirements, thus appearing as a man who wants to be a lesbian without being a woman.

There are always going to be simple two dimensional troll dudes- folks who don’t respect lesbians or women. Not gatekeeping nonbinary lesbians isn’t going to open the flood doors for these lesbophobic monsters.

The idea that “People who are partially male are still male” is binary thinking. People who are partially male are partially male.

Nobody is entirely without masculinity. The argument that anyone can be 100% woman or man does nothing but reinforce the gender binary.
