Here is a bit of queer tv for y'all. This is from the new Netflix show 'Away' staring Hillary Swank as the commander of the first human mission to Mars of which Lu is the astronaut chosen to represent China. She has a secret, namely she is in love with Mei, the CAPCOM for the mission but the secret doesn't stay that way. While this storyline plays out predominantly in the 3rd episode of the 10 part season, it is referenced throughout the show. What I particularly liked about this storyline is that, in spite of it being a US show, it represents the experience of queerness from the point of view of the Chinese culture, which I don't often get to see (and, without knowing this culture particularly well felt like it treated it with sensitivity). The performance by Vivian Wu is subtle and moving and it it's basically a lesbian in space so ... Yeah, it's great. Doc who musings

I need to see the episode again, bu i have questions... How did the doctor and bill survive the blast? Does that mean Missy survives too? Wtf is the Master talking about that the full blast will kill Missy, no chance of regeneration? The impossable astronaut shot the Doctor several times, during his regeneration... The cult of Death (or whatever their name is) needed a contraption to kill a timelord, and then put the body in a vault to make sure... i call shenanegans! I like the ending with Bill & Heather, but would have liked more teasers during the season. Bill crying tears without realising, doodling stars... just to show she was still thinking about Heather from time to time... I will miss space grandpa and his lesbian granddaughter :'( Why didn't they get to say goodbye. Not sad about Missy, because she will be back! (Perhaps denial, but let me have this)
