Les Flatmates in Bratislava. Photos: Eetu Linnankivi
Eetu is my friend from Finland and a very good photographer. We got to know each other some four years ago while studying music together. Eetu spent his summer semester in Bratislava studying photography, but now he is already back in Helsinki. If you need a good photographer in Finland, I can sincerely recommend contacting him. He is a super nice person to collaborate with and has an eye for good photographs.
We spent our second tour day walking around Bratislava with Eetu taking photos of us. And new photos of Les Flatmates were indeed needed. As well as couple of videos that we managed to make too. Besides it was a super nice day, I’m very happy with the results! Here some of the photos. The videos a bit later.

And behind the scenes material:
Starting the summer with an improvised tour
Taking a little break is definitely needed every now and then. After having pretty exhausting spring with finishing my thesis and studies and learning how to become an entrepreneur, 10 days of travelling and playing music was an excellent way to start the summer.
Me and Nina (my flatmate, co-musician, collaegue, and one of my most favourite people on the earth decided) decided to make a tour on the first week of June. Our duo – Les Flatmates – have had a way too long pause after Nina touring in New Zealand last autumn and me being busy in the spring. Despite we marked the tour dates on our calenders already in January, on the first day of the tour we still didn’t have any concerts booked nor knew where we would be travelling to.
I played a concert at weddings in Znojmo, in a cute town in the Southern Moravia on Saturday and Nina had gig in Olomouc, north-west of the Czech Republic. On Sunday morning we met in Brno and had a breakfast and a tour plannig meeting. After a cup of coffee and a couple of phone calls, we had a photo shooting session agreed in Bratislava, a place to stay in Budapest and a concert booked in Banska Stiavnica, and we decided to take the next train towards Slovakia.
The purpose of the week and tour was to have sort of an inspiration holiday: slow down, sleep well, keep the mind, ears and eyes open for the stories and finally play some music again. And it was good. Taking a break is good. And after feeding your mind, it’s the harvest time.
Znojmo, in the Southern Czech Republic.
Always happy in Budapest. Maybe Les Flatmates should move there? Our beloved Hungarian friend Fabian is a manager of a brand new hostel Toucan. We had the honor to be the first guests of the place - when it wasn’t even opened yet. So, we had the whole new hostel for us. Plenty of space to rehearse music.
The so-called quality of our traveling reduces step by step. At first a nice, modern train. Then the one on the photo below and then sitting on a floor of a way too full, old bus.
Banska Stiavnica, in the Middle of Slovakia. Some green beauty, hills, valleys, peace.
Besides the beauty of peaceful countryside, we had a pleasure to play a concert with Slovakian singer Ivana Mer and Cristian Estrella.
