Well.
My Aunt Leslie has died.
A lot of people I align with politically are rejoicing, and they're not wrong to do so. She was a monster well before the end.
And she was brilliant and clever and skilled, and the safest I ever felt as a child was falling asleep on the couch while she sang with my father.
I loved her very much. She broke my heart. And so it goes.

And can you keep your head, you backbone, or your heart? We all found out the answer on the day it fell apart
Song: The Day It Fell Apart – Leslie Fish

I’m SO obsessed with Leslie Fish.
I love her voice - she has a very unique voice.
I love old Internet Archive tapes, when her guitar sounds all like ploink ploink ploink and metallic.
I love how she pronounces Spock like Spahk.
I love concert videos, when she talks a bit in-between the songs.
I like the weird little sound she makes sometimes. Like "hya".
I love her anarchist songs.
I love when she sings very high or very low.
I can and will fangirl bout an old filker the same way other people fangirl about like K-Pop singers.
Album cover for my next album.
Still feeling some type of way about Leslie Fish passing away. Somehow she was such a funny and intelligent and talented woman, producing wonderful music that I enjoyed for years.
On the other hand, once I discovered her politics the music felt somewhat soured, and anti-government songs ceased to sound like they were for the good of the people, but more for the good of the 'good' people. Especially as a trans man (who is also fan of Alexander James Adams), I couldn't listen anymore for a while.
Now that she's gone I am rediscovering her music. And it feels bad that it sounds better now that she's no longer attached to it. That's also the point. The music is good, it's raw, it scratches an itch. And now I can do that without the fear of directly supporting someone directly opposing me
