Running was something Grayson always loved, she loved the burn in her lungs, the pounding of her heart in her ears while she pushed her body to be the best it could be. She had started to run along the beach, the sand made it harder to step, which burned more calories, and she liked the way her legs burned after her run, she was really looking forward to being strong enough for it to stop hurting soon. She was running her usual path one day, between the houses and the beach, when she saw two dogs wandering around the beach. She figured their owner was going to be close by, and she slowed down to a jog, but when she realized she didn’t see anyone around she stopped and looked at the dogs, one of whom seemed a little shyer than the other. “Well, what are you two doing out here?” she asked the friendlier dog as she knelt down and was immediately met by kisses and jumping. “Okay, okay,” she sighed and then grabbed the dog by the collar. She read the address on the collar and then looked around. “I think that’s close,” she mumbled before pulling her phone out and looking it up. It was just a five minute walk, so she stood up and sighed as she looked at the dogs. They could probably make it home on their own, if they could make it five minutes one way they could definitely do it another way, and she was about to run off and just leave them, but as she started to jog again, she was surprised when they started to follow her.
“Oh come on!” she said as she looked at them. “Go on, shoo, go home,” Gray said as she waved her hands, the friendlier of the two gave a little bark and jumped around, obviously thinking this was some sort of game. She sighed darkly and then looked at her phone. “Fine, you know what, fuck it,” she said before starting to jog again. She checked to make sure the dogs were following every couple feet, and they were, hell they were keeping pace with her, so when she got to their house she opened the gate to the front and watched as the dogs ran right in. At least it seemed like it was the right place. Gray jogged up to the house and knocked on the door, holding the collar of the friendlier dog so that the owner wouldn’t think she was just some random girl coming over to knock on their door for no reason. When the door opened she gave the owner a heavy sigh. “Lose something?” she asked dryly.
