i'm very biased in this opinion but i really hate when people are so sure that if mike wasn't dating will by the epilogue, he'd just kill himself or end up alone forever.
he was EIGHTEEN. like he wasn't even twenty yet. rarely anyone has their entire life figured out by then, why does he need to have his identity fully figured out? there isn't a time limit at all on discovering yourself, he could figure out at fifty and still be valid. it doesn't make any sense to assume that he'd just end it all before trying to discover himself.
and i think this is more personal to me because i just always want to see more characters in shows who don't know. characters who are still figuring things out for a long time, characters who deal with the difficult reality of not understanding themselves.
i just feel sad when i see people who think that if he doesn't date will byers asap he'll just die. what happened to experimenting in college? or gay awakenings? why can't his realizations come later in life? it may hurt, and it may be harder, but i just think people should have a more hopeful outlook on his character ending.
