Seeing as we're all throwing them out there, and because I apparently enjoy causing myself emotional damage.
TW: Suicide.
I had hoped all these motorcycle accidents and talk of ‘not being around to face consequences’ were feints.
But Episode 9 triggered the fuck out of me. If they don’t go there with Robby’s story now, after how accurate that was, I would be deeply surprised. Anyone who has ever been to that dark place and/or dipped their toes in psychology, knows exactly what level of serious the signs displayed in that episode were. And the fact that Noah played it so convincingly is... Discomforting, to say the least.
Anyway, onto my crackpot theory:
Robby clearly has no plans of returning from that sabbatical, however, I do think he did intend to go on it - Mr 'Residency in NOLA', Mr 'Doctors Without Borders' wants one last adventure, wants someplace other than Pittsburgh to be the last part of the world he sees.
That is, until whatever has happened to Duke is revealed. As much as I would love to believe, like many others, that seeing something happen to his friend will shake him out of it, I’m thinking it will have the opposite effect and make him lose hope, speed up his timeline.
I can’t find the post now, but someone mentioned that he’s unlikely to do it at home - that’s not The Pitt’s style. Outside of the ED area, we’ve only really seen the beer park, the rooftop, and the helipad. I also suspect he’ll stay close to the hospital for drama and series continuity purposes - he needs to be found ‘in time’ by the most impacted people.
All that said, given how this season has very noticeably kept us out of Robby’s head, I’m willing to bet it’s going to happen off-screen.
Who the fuck knows how he’ll do it. I’d like to think that despite his affinity for standing on the edge of a rooftop, he wouldn’t want his colleagues to find the result of that, and it would also make it less likely he'd be found alive.
I’m thinking either Langdon or Whitaker (or both) get stuck in a trauma after day shift goes home. When they're done, Robby can’t be found anywhere, they assume he must have gone home too, so they make their way outside, and the motorcycle is still there.
Alarm bells are ringing. Langdon's spidey sense is tingling, what have you. Oh, and Santos is probably still knocking about somewhere as well, with her mountain of charting to do; y'know, the woman that has already lost someone important to suicide, and who has become close enough to Robby in the last ten months to engage in gossip and banter with him.
Anyway, our sad boy is going to get found. And no doubt our sweet little rat-catcher Whitaker is going to be part of his immediate resus team, seeing as he is just now conveniently getting good at intubating without a GlideScope.
They were already guaranteed a Season 3, so they could get away with leaving his actual survival a cliffhanger. It would be a good hook that we don't even have to wait too long to see resolved. My only hang ups with that are that, if he does come back, it would be difficult to keep Noah being on set in scrubs a total secret, and, if he doesn't, as it stands right now, I can't really picture anyone else being a strong enough lead at the moment - but we've got six more episodes for that to change.
Gods, let it be crackpot, let me be wrong. Let our boy ride off into the sunset - with his goddamn helmet on. Let Abbot and Caleb section him, idgaf, just let our boy finish this day without a fucking tube down his throat.
So, I know none of us wants to think about whether or not the polybros are gonna die at the end of S2 🥺, I don't want to think that either, but my brain keeps thinking thoughts...
And that lead me to do some research about the whole thing with the materials they're named after, and also their father Ramie, a lot has already been said about how the polybros names come from artificial fibers while their father is named after a natural fiber, nothing much to add in that part.
Still, I think we may be missing the part on why these materials are used, we all know that synthetic fabrics are more durable and longer-lasting than natural ones but also tend to lack the same quality and unique textures that natural fabric has, hence why these materials are so commonly used in mass production, particularly in 'fast fashion', you know, clothes that are made to be used and replaced very quickly, and I can't help but think about how Polyester and Polyurethane are indeed very skilled, efficient and more responsible than the sisters, but also their personalities aren't very unique, other people have said it, but yeah, so far they seem to be very interchangeable as characters, on top of it we know that they aren't close with their father... Could this hint that Ramie sees them as inferior angels and thus, replaceable?
Also, on the other side, despite the quality, an unavoidable downside of natural fabrics is that they can deteriorate and break down more easily, but did you know that in certain industries, a known way to make ramie fibers stronger and more resilient is by adding polyester and polyurethane to the mix? I admit this is stretching it a bit too much, but what if eventually, if the Anarchy sisters do end up going against their uncle... What if he uses his own sons to make himself stronger?
Idk, this wouldn't be the first time Trigger shows how vile a villain is via doing this sort of thing to a devoted follower or family member, use them and discard them, so it doesn't seem that far fetched.
free my tongue, go rogue and mean, like those girls at 17. they got glass ceilings and rings FUCK !!! those girls got everything. something twisted in my chest, says i'm good but not the best...i've been good too long, let me be wrong
