Sometimes I forget about other sides because when the Oscar to Red Bull rumours were on a high I never considered what Red Bull fans were thinking I only actually saw what Oscar fans were saying which was obviously differing opinions from everyone and some Oscar fans are L*ndoscars so they don't want their "duo" seperated 🙄
However I am on an F1 WhatsApp group with my country mates and in an motorsports society club in my uni and obviously because there's a race this week everyone is back to being "active" on the group and society and I also mute the groups after a race so after Silverstone I didn't read anything.
So today I started reading everything I've missed and in both groups someone right off the bat sent the Oscar rumours and for context Lewis is the most liked driver in my country you see F1 merch 90% of the time it's Lewis then it's teams like Mercedes (Lewis), Red Bull and Ferrari. I've seen McLaren only like twice tbh anyways (it's the colour orange that turns people off)
So majority of these opinions are coming from Lewis, Max & Charles fans.
Anyways I was shocked to see a lot in both the group with my F1 country mates and uni club that they support it. They were saying they think Oscar would do well at Red Bull and they'd love to see him at a team that would actually build around him, some unfortunately had to mention 2025 (I'm still not over it) and how as much as McLaren never blatantly said it but it was obvious they wanted Norris to win.
One person she said the way Oscar was mentioned that whole night in interviews was crazy and that it looked and reeked as though they were guilty of something.
This one said he (Max V fan) feels like McLaren isn't properly using Oscar's talent to it fullest potential.
I think one thing I appreciate about these 2 groups are that people are honest asf (we are very blunt as a nation ngl) so it does cause arguments 💀 especially race week because a lot of us argue like crazy but we respect each other's opinions so these groups saying all of this about Oscar made me realise I don't actually know what's being said by actual objective F1 fans and because these groups I'm in aren't majority Oscar fans (there are Oscar fans but they make up only like 20% or he's people's 2nd driver rep after 44, 3 or 16) it actually gave me a view on what a non-Oscar fan/objective fan might be thinking.
So I did on the ground "journalism" on TikTok and Twitter... And some Red Bull fans don't mind Oscar moving to their team I was actually shocked because Max V has been a HUGE part of Red Bull for years (some were saying they're sick of the Verstappen camp ngl they're good at keeping stuff under wraps because I didn't know about this)
Anyways as someone who doesn't like McLaren I wouldn't mind Oscar going to Red Bull and that's A LOT coming from me because I don't like Red Bull either but I have seen what Red Bull has done with Max so I do know they can do a lot with Oscar.
Also genuinely I just have a problem with every single F1 team it's not unique to Red Bull (too lazy to get into it but each team there's something I don't like) BUT McLaren has drained me ngl and I don't think Red Bull can do worse than the mess McLaren did of 2025 and 2026 (some of the races this year have been horrible strategy wise actually)
I know Webber has already denied the rumours however I'm hoping that's a PR move.
This is so long I apologize and I know I'm late in terms of these rumours but Silverstone had me pissed off with how long they took to listen to Oscar and change the front wing I just stepped away from anything F1 related.
i think generally fans like Oscar and i know he gets compared to Max in some ways, so i'm not surprised Red Bull fans wouldn't mind him going to the team. i'm not completely okay with the idea, cause i don't really like rbr and things can easily turn bad there too, but as you said can it be worse than McLaren? gues we'll have to find out. i like to think it's a possibility that he's leaving McLaren, but that's just my own dreams.
