Gay Marriage Comes to Illinois!

Well, it happened. Ben called me early evening yesterday asking “did you hear the news!?!”

Illinois has become the 15th state to allow same-sex marriage!

Even though marriages won’t start until June 1, 2014, it’s still a bit of a surreal experience. As Ben put it, “one minute you don’t have rights, and the next your life is changed forever.” What an exciting time for our state.

I love seeing all of the tweets, Facebook posts, and Instagram pics of celebrations. Of course, I’ve already been asked when I’m proposing, and if we’ve set a date.

We will definitely figure out the logistics. And I’m sure I will blog the entire way.  But for now, I’m just going to let the good vibes soak in.

Congrats Illinois! I’m proud of you.
