Resonance (Let’s Resonate) App Previews are here

We’ve been doing a bunch of fit and finish improvements after the last release (Immersive Search and Improved Library). 

Specifically, we’ve updated the Resonance (Let’s Resonate) product page on the App Store to be a little more friendlier than before - friendlier to both the humans and the machines that are crawling the internet for search engines. The inspiration for this work was the App Store Optimization posts that we came across. 

The App Store images have been updated with captions to help convey the idea being presented in the image. 

The App Store text has been updated to include the features we’ve updated the app with over the last months.  

And we’ve created a number of screen recordings and put them together in an App Preview promo videos to help people discover the app and functionality on the App Store. You can preview them here and on our website. (These are still in iterative review on the App Store and we hope that the App Previews will be live in a few days)

Send music to your loved ones this Valentine’s Day

We blogged earlier about how we've gone Red for the Valentine's Day and made some tall claims about how Resonance is the best way to reach out to your loved ones on Valentine's Day. In this blog post, we're going to show how to send your favorite love songs to your loved ones using Resonance. 

Let’s try sending a song to our loved ones from Resonance. The first task is to select the song that you want to share. Sharing on Resonance is enabled pretty much everywhere - where ever you find the song in the App, you can share it. 

What do I mean by this? 

Well here are the following places where songs are featured on Resonance and how they can be shared.

Library: 

if the song / playlist is in the library, swipe left to reveal additional actions on the song and select the share action.

if the song is in a playlist, swiping left on the song when viewing the playlist reveals additional actions including the share action

if the song is in an album, swiping left on the song will reveal the share action.

Now Playing:

the share button on the now playing screen can share the currently playing song 

songs in the now playing queue are shareable by swiping left.

Friends: 

songs on the friends music feed have a share button when they are shareable

individual songs in playlist items in the friends music feed are shareable by swiping left

Search: 

search results are shareable by swiping left and selecting the share button

There is one exception to the above - there might be times when Resonance might not have enough information about the songs to share them. This is when the song has been added to the library on the device and Resonance has not been able to match it to one of the known songs in the Apple Music Library. In this case, the sharing button is not displayed.

Sharing Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You on Resonance:

Now that we know how songs can be shared, we'll select a song and send it to a friend on Resonance. Lets navigate to the search screen in the app and search for "Whitney Houston I will always love you" - we love Whitney Houston and believe few songs convey depth of emotions as well as this song - Trust us, sending this song to your loved ones will score some major relationship points :)

Swipe left on the Whitney Houston - I will always love you search result and click the share icon - you'll see a share popup with different sharing options:

Share on Resonance: sending music on Resonance if your loved ones are on Resonance and in your social network

Share on Facebook / Messenger: sharing on Facebook or on Facebook Messenger (requires Facebook and Facebook Messenger Apps to be installed on the device)

Share on Twitter: Tweeting music to followers (requires Twitter App)

Share on WhatsApp / Messages: Sending music as text messages on WhatsApp (requires WhatsApp) or the default iOS Messages App

Share: you can send them a link to the song by selecting the app of your choice (your favorite email client, another messaging app / social networking app etc) 

Let’s attempt to send via Resonance. To send the song on Resonance, select "Share on Resonance" from the popup menu - this should display a new sharing screen with a list of friends and a messages text box to customize your share with a message. 

Type a message in the message text box - we recommend something like "My dear, I'll ALWAYS love you, not just this Valentine's Day! Happy Valentine's Day!"

Now select your "Dear" from the list of friends and click the save button. You should see a spinning progress icon and then a checkmark of success!

Congrats! You've just sent your loved one a Song Message! Now sit back and relax and the song do its magic!

Sharing Valentine’s Day - Love Songs playlist on Resonance:

Let's also demonstrate on how to send a playlist from Resonance. Let’s attempt to send the Resonance's "Valentine's Day Love Songs" playlist which is being featured in the app this Valentines Day.

Navigate to the Friends Music Feed and click the "Filter: All" drop down menu. This will show a drop down with different filtering options - lets select the "Search" filter and a search bar will appear on top the screen. Type "Valentine" and hit search - the featured "Valentine's Day - Love Songs" playlist should appear in the search results.

Tap the share button and select "Share on Messenger" menu item (requires Facebook Messenger app). Write a custom message in the message box - we recommend something like "My dear, this short but sweet Valentine's Day Love Songs playlist doesn't even come close to my love for thyself! Happy Valentine’s Day!"

Select your "Dear" from the friends list and click send to "Send" them the song message and then "Done" to get back to the Resonance app. Just like that, your Valentine's Day song message is on its way to your loved one. Sit back and wait for the playlist to work its magic.
