Aaaah, I see! Understandable! Maybe it's more like, if you could revisit a fanfic (as if you were reading it for the first time), no matter what fandom, what would it be? It doesn't even need to be objectively "good", but just something that left quite an impression on you.
I'm sorry to say that doesn't make it any easier but rather more difficult kinda lmao
like even just picking one off the top of my head my mind goes to several, yanno?
like... again very biased, but p much everything written by @darkwingsnark (some of which were co-written with her wife, @swampy-tiefling, just to be clear on credit), not counting the ones that I've never read bc they weren't for fandoms I'm part of XD
and that's just still a bunch of different fics made by one specific author (or two, as it were), there's so much beyond that that I would love to read again for the very first time (heck, with how shit my memory can be, just reading them again after some time isn't that much different tbh)
or idk, I know I'm being difficult, but even the idea of "reading something again for the first time" doesn't rly... appeal to me? Like when it comes to fiction I thoroughly enjoy I am always so in-the-moment when reading it, knowing what's gonna happen ahead of time doesn't rly make that much of a difference? If I let myself get wrapped into the story, I will p much feel the same amount of feelings every time (minus maybe suspense lol but I rarely read fics for that purpose) Heck sometimes that makes it better bc I like the anticipation and sometimes it even enriches the experience if the author had written some sort of foreshadowing or thematic thing that I hadn't spotted the first time. Also repeated readings can be more enjoyable for me in the sense revisiting any type of media can be - but I think I have that especially with written fiction bc I have harder time remembering text in detail and seeing the bigger picture and so, revisiting it solidifies my memories better and makes me able to appreciate the work more as a piece of literature and not just something that gave me a bunch of feels during the time of reading it.
