Peaches snuck out of her harness this morning as I was walking her around the van. It was a cold morning so the engine was running to defrost the windows. I didn't realize she was scared of the exhaust pumping out the back. After coaxing her into some ball playing, I was able to weasel her back in. Now I need to add exhaust to the list with fire, water hoses and people wearing weird hats. Sometimes I forget that I'm not the only one overcoming my fears. We're spending the holidays together, just me and Peaches, this year. It will be the first time I'm away from my family and the first time I'll be waking up in a van instead of a house with a bed. So you want to go live in a van and travel as long as you can. After living in all sorts of vehicles, I can tell you that things will not always go as planned. You might break down. More than once, or twice or three times even. You might find yourself cold to the bone, blowing hot air on your fingertips. You might find a little mouse bumming a ride even though he never asked permission. You might be so hot one night that you bust out a tent and sleep there instead.
