Ernst Meyer (May 11, 1797 - 1861) was a Danish genre painter of the so-called Golden Age of Danish art, where artists sought inspiration from classic works and Italian/Roman settings.

Here is a typical example of Meyer’s style - in fact he painted several versions of this:
