The night felt more than a little empty as she walked down the streets of Hogsmeade, hands tucked inside pockets. After all that had happened, all of the people she had seen fall, Cora wanted to distance herself from the aftermath. She still stopped to help survivors if they needed it, but as often as she could manage to, she had kept to herself. Walking along the streets was an attempt to do that, she supposed. People didn’t talk to her and that was good, right? No, that was a very obvious lie, but not one that she could afford to admit. Sighing deeply, she stopped beside one of the closed shops, leaning her hip against the brick wall. The truth was, she wanted someone to be there right now- not a stranger, a friend.
Footsteps sounded behind her, and she turned to the side, fully expecting to watch another stranger walk by. Instead, she caught sight of the one person that might have made things better, and her eyes lit up in relief. “Kat!”
