5 Questions with Leure ________________________ What motivates you? A whole lot of everything. Daily motivation changes depending on the situation I guess. In the grand scheme I would say music as a whole motivates me. That magical feeling when you fall in love with a song and need to play it 100 million times because it gives you so much energy! If I can one day create a song which gives that feeling to someone I will feel accomplished. What's the best part of what you do? Exploration. And I mean that in every which way. Exploration of new music, live performances, new sounds, exploration of production and song writing techniques (which is limitless) and general growth both as a musician and person. It is important to feel comfortable with your identity and challenge yourself, music gives this to me everyday. What most inspiring thing a listener of your music told you? That I have an original sound. I think in this day and age its becoming more and more difficult to be original so if one person thinks I have created something different, and digs it, that for me is inspiration to keep making music. Does a specific state of mind or mood generate your best work? I am currently one month into an artist residency in Amsterdam. It is the first time in my life I have been able to wake up each day and focus solely on music. It is the most creatively productive I have been my entire life and I feel very grateful for the opportunity. I'm pretty lucky though, usually I can sit down any which way I am feeling and create something. If I'm stressed, music releases me. If I'm immensely happy, writing enhances and builds on that positivity. What's next for yourself? I'm going to write the best possible album I can in Amsterdam and see where that takes me! Possibly tour some more. I will be residing in Europe for at least a year at this point.
