✧*:･ﾟ| HE could not describe the sensation if pressed, but it was a sensation of LIGHT AND WARMTH nonetheless. The boy, like a sun on a pleasant spring day, warm and welcoming but not cloying and dangerous as in summer. It doesn't make sense when he thinks about it, but the moment he thinks about it, the workings of his mind switch to something else —- there's samples to be collected, a juvenile gorilla to feed, and hundreds of technicians on the blue-green marble known as planet Earth waiting for his EVERY WORD.

SO he is utterly natural, completely and wholly IMMERSED in a dream that he believes reality, walking through the sterile hallways of the Horizon Lunar Colony and ensuring that the young man in his company does not wander where he should not.

❝ISN'T it beautiful?❞ He asks, gazing off through wide, transparent windows. A planet, teeming with LIFE, life that moves and breathes seemingly unbeknownst to the lonely man and brunette youth and their vigil. ❝Being up here, it places you in a sort of PERSPECTIVE. You understand how … how infinite the universe is from out here.❞

Just as dusk set on the village, Zexion finished with the third aisle. Every single book had been obsessively classified and organized according to the subject, title, and author. It was clear there were several mages who had extensively addressed the practices, culture, ‘history’ and wildlife of the realm. It didn’t matter where, a library would always feel like home. 

 Even if he was now the shadow of a shadow. 

Regardless of how pale and unliving he was, a kettle steamed on the desk next to an empty cup. Zexion picked up the kettle a served a relatively decent ‘green tea’, or at least, the closest thing to green tea he had found in the storage. 

A book depicting the history of the Unholy was open next to the steaming cup and a candle, the only light in the quiet sunset library.

“Nya... isn’t it pretty late though...?”

He had come into his temporary owners room to check on him, though upon seeing he was up, had walked closer until he was within petting range. Listening was something that was easy for him. It didn’t require him to share his opinions, and it helped the other person feel better.

“Being a hero is hard huh...” He wondered out loud, crawling onto Sora’s knee and starting to purr. It was easy to see how Sora could remind him of Mahiru, which was a comfort but also a point of worry. “Hey... let’s go out and get some food. It’s kinda stuffy in here huh?”

There was nothing he could offer, word wise, that might help Sora feel better. Nothing to quite down the anxiety he was feeling. All he could offer was ways to stop thinking about it.

“That is quite the outfit, good sir. Your tailor has... interesting taste that is for certain.” Inigo commented on the other’s unique style of clothing. He didn’t recall seeing that sort of fashion back at home.

Hunger.

It’s the single ideal plaguing his mind, all other senses dulled in such a new landscape. It’s fresh and it’s vibrant, and it makes him sick how he has to live amongst such life.

What makes things worse is the dumb tittering that’s all around him. He hears people laughing, talking, and it’s filling the new kind of void in his head that just wasn’t there before, a familiar emptiness that’s anything but comforting in the situation he’s in right now. It’s frustrating that in the new silence, his stomach is empty. He’s hungry, but this is a new flavor of barren he’s never paid attention to before.

Then, his stomach growls, and the camel’s back breaks.

In desperation, Vanitas’ eyes zone in on a sandwich (that’s what those are called, right?) sitting all pretty in a plate, its owners distracted while they talk to each other. Then he’s walking up to their table, nabbing their food-- plate and all-- and walking off. Maybe the couple yells after him, maybe they don’t, but he sure as hell doesn’t care, shoving some poor sap out of his way so he can enjoy his new salvation somewhere in peace.

The petite box is cute, adorned with a delicate ribbon and its secrets inside, but he's no fool. Joshua's been watching the town about him, the gifts revealing themselves to be as generous as they are trecherous. A gift that could backfire on him? Joshua's sure surprised.

He's pocketing the trinket again, no interest in opening it, before going on his way around town once more. With the air as chilly as it is, he finds himself distracted enough with watching his breath float off that he nearly doesn't realize he's about to bump into someone.

"... Sora?" There's a smile on Joshua's face. "It's been a while."
