Pairings: Levyaku (main), Kuroken, Bokuaka (side)
Prompt: -I run the carousel and you won’t get off the fucking ride, do I have to call security
Note: So apparently i never posted this? which is weird? because i was pretty sure i had?? but i cant find it anywhere? so i must have not have?
“Excuse me, sir, but what the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
Lev did not even respond to the voice, instead he was trying to balance his legs around the horse so his feet would stop dragging across the floor. Kuroo had wrapped his legs around the horses neck and Bokuto was balanced on his knees somehow, but for him it just wasn’t working.
“Weeee!” Lev looked over to his left to watch Bokuto as the horse rose up again with a small squeaking noise. Lev wasn’t sure if it was because it was old or because Bokuto’s weight but it looked alright, so he wouldn’t worry about it for now. Besides, Kuroo’s horse was doing just fine at the moment, and so was his, and he was sure they were all the same weight, or at least around it.
Lev found that wrapping his legs around the horse’ base and crisscrossing his feet underneath it worked best for him, even if it did tilt his body in a weird way. Every time they came here he had to change the way he put his legs, because the something never worked more than once.
“Sir, are you aware these horses are for children to ride on?”
This one seemed to be directed at Bokuto, but once again all three of them ignored it and kept on eagerly riding their most beloved carousel. A little girl a few horses in front of them was eagerly squealing and bouncing up and down on her prized pink and white pony, her anxious mother trying to keep her from toppling right off of it. Ah, it really was a great place. So bright, so colorful, so filled with laughter and joy and-
“Sir I will literally kick your ass if you don’t get off this moment!” The voice was back now, but Lev ignored it again. They had paid to go on, that lady was helping her daughter and she was an adult, and technically none of them were ‘adults’ yet, at least legally, so Lev thought they were in their right to be there. He was glad he had agreed to come again.
…… Usually, Yaku liked working at the carousel. When he was a kid, it was his favorite place. It was so close to his house, in fact, his mother and older sister used to take him almost every day to have a ride.
Of course, that had been when he was a child, like over eight years ago. He didn’t go looking for this job because it held some sort of intense weird sentimental value-he got this job because Kenma said the money was good and quite frankly that was all the job needed for Yaku to do it at that point. Kenma was his new roommate, he didn’t know much about him even after five months, but they got along just fine.
That day had started off like any other; his alarm went off at nine, he got up, showered, got dressed, fed the cats, made himself a quick breakfast, and then went into Kenma’s room and woke him up, gently prying his DS out his hands and telling him to eat something before he left. At ten thirty he met Akaashi at the park gates and they got everything ready so it was ready for action at eleven. It started out slow, then there was the ‘rush’ and then there was a slow period again.
And then these three assholes had showed up. At first he thought it was a fucking joke, that these guys were kidding around when they handed Akaashi the money for the ride and then went on, jumping on horses all in a row. But then Akaashi just tucked the money away with the rest and held the gate open for a exited little boy and he knew it was for real.
And okay, it was a little unusual for grown men to ride a carousel; but there was plenty more weird shit in the world. He had seen some teenagers go for a run once or twice and parents road all the time to accompany their small children, so he told himself it was no big deal.
Except, when the ride they had paid for stopped, they didn’t get off. Yaku didn’t really notice right away, because the carousel had stopped where he couldn’t see them from where he was standing. But when he did notice, he pointed it out to Akaashi, who looked at the three clowns for a moment before sighing.
“Let them stay,” Akaashi had finally decided. “We don’t wanna ruin the ride for the kids.”
Well, he had a point.
Yaku had expected them to leave when the second ride ended. But they didn’t. It was around the seventh time that Akaashi started to look mildly annoyed of the fact they hadn’t left yet. He told Yaku he could say something if he wanted too.
So Yaku had.
And Nothing, they didn’t even reply.
That was ten rides and forty minutes ago, and now Yaku had thrown away all the mercy for the young children and was set on screaming at the top of his lungs at them. He threw in a couple of swears as well, yet he was still trying to sound as polite as possible.
Yaku was very near the point of breaking the highest rule of no going on the carousel while you’re working just so he could drag them all off by the ears. Especially that giant beanpole that squealed like a maniac whenever the music started and kept on trying to keep his feet from dragging along the floor, he was the most annoying. And that was saying something, because the other two were really annoying. The one who looked like had he had gotten struck by lightning and then inhaled a few pounds of crack before arriving was screaming with joy every three seconds and kept on hooting like he was attempting to channel the spirit of Harry Potter’s dead owl. And the other one looked like he was having sex with the horse from the way he was laying his body on top of it.
“Akaashi I swear to god I am about to call park security on their asses.” Yaku said, nearly vibrating with frustration.
“Don’t call security, call Kenma-san.” Akaashi said, watching them with a flicker of annoyance in his eyes.
“Kenma?” Yaku blinked in confusion. He wasn’t sure why he needed Kenma to handle this-Kenma didn’t even work here anymore, technically the job he was working now was formerly Kenma’s before he got one that was more appealing to him at the video game store.
Akaashi nodded in answer.
Sighing, Yaku took out his phone and called Kenma.
“Hello?”
“Kenma there’s three crazy people on the carousel who refuse to get off and Akaashi told me to call you.”
Kenma let out a long sigh. “Okay, I’ll be there in a while.” Kenma hung up and he was left looking at his phone for a moment in confusion, before tucking it away and going back to his post.
“Kenma said he’d be here soon.”
Akaashi nodded and leaned against the closed gate. “Finally.”
“If Kenma was the key to getting them off, why didn’t we call him right away?” Yaku demanded, eye twitching a little.
“They have to have their fun first.”
“What?”
Akaashi didn’t answer.
Twenty or so minutes later, Kenma arrived just as a load of kids was getting off. Kenma grabbed the out of order sign and put it on the gate so no more kids would come running up and then closed the gate behind him.
When the guy who looked like he was doing the horse saw Kenma, he perked up considerably and sat up properly.
“Kuroo.” Kenma said in his soft voice once he had walked up to him. “What are you doing here?”
“We’ve come to protest again.” Kuroo said with a broad smirk.
“I already started the job at the store, and now Yaku-san has my old job, so stop doing this. It annoys Akaashi and confuses and frustrates Yaku-san because he doesn’t know what’s going on.”
Kenma grabbed Kuroo’s jacket and gently pulled him off. Shockingly, the big lug came with him, swinging himself right off the horse without complaint. The other two followed after them.
“I got them off.” Kenma reported to Akaashi and then looked at Yaku. “Can I go home now?”
Yaku’s eye twitched again-a sign that he was about to lose it in four-three-two-
“Kenma,” he said, sounding like he was straining to keep his voice low. “Who the hell are these people?”
Kenma pointed to Kuroo. “My boyfriend,” and then he pointed to the one who had been hooting earlier. “Akaashi’s boyfriend Bokuto.” He pointed to beanpole. “Their friend, Lev.”
Yaku opened his mouth to comment but then snapped his mouth closed, he did this two more times, then closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose, rubbed at his temples, took exactly three deep breaths, and then opened his eyes.
Then, he went up to Lev, and literally kicked his ass.
“Next time I tell you to get off the carousel, you get off the fucking carousel.” He then grabbed his bag that had been tucked in near where the controls were. Lev was in the background, holding his ass and squealing about how much Yaku’s little feet had hurt.
“I’m going home, Kenma you’re finishing up here for me so I can go take a Xanax and go to sleep after this exhausting day I have suffered through, goodbye.” And then he walked away.
When he left the park and started his way down the street, he heard someone yelling his name.
“YAKU-SAN, YAKU-SAN!”
He turned around, and the beanpole was running after him, his long limbs awkwardly swinging in the air as he waved to get his attention.
He stopped and waited for Lev to catch up to him, telling himself it was only because he felt bad for accidentally clipping the kids tailbone with part of his foot.
“Wow your short.” Was the first thing Lev said when he had caught up with him.
Yaku raised his foot and slammed it down on Lev’s. Lev yelped and danced away from him a bit, keeping himself out of Yaku’s reach.
“Sorry, sorry” he said, before grinning broadly at him.
“What do you want?” Yaku wondered.
“Can I…Can I walk you home?”
“Excuse me?” Yaku asked, thinking he had misheard.
“Can I walk you home? For making up for staying on the carousel that long?” Lev said. He had a nice smile, Yaku observed. It stretched big across his face, showing off nice white teeth and it really complimented his eyes for some reason. And his eyes were nice too-a deep green that reminded him of a forest.
“Walking me home doesn’t make up the money the carousel could have made.” Yaku pointed out, voice not as cold as it had been before.
Lev tapped his chin with one of his long fingers. “You’re right, Yaku-san-so why don’t I buy you dinner-and then walk you home?”
Yaku stared at him for a moment.
“Fine. But I’m texting Kenma and telling him where I went so you can’t get away with kidnapping and murdering me.”
Lev smiled. “Okay Yaku-san.”
He couldn’t deny it: even when Yaku had been yelling at him to get off the carousel, he had thought Lev’s smile was cute.
