I've hit a massive realization about combine and G-Man, And I officially think G-Man is genuinely a good guy trying to Protect Alyx-

It’s your lucky day cause this is my excuse to talk about why G-Man is a sweet heart There’s so much evidence to back this up. The fact that G-Man seems more against the Combine than with, that he might be a shapeshifted matured Shu’ulathoi that escaped the Combine years ago, saving Alyx and literally threatening to kill whoever told him she wasn’t worth saving (probably Breen let’s be honest) - On top of that, in Episode 2, when he says he wants a repayment for keeping an eye on Gordon for so long, he just ask him to keep Alyx safe and protected while they travel to White Forest, even knowing full well that she’s a fast learner and can handle most things herself. It is argued that he only wanted her alive to send the ‘Unforeseen Consequences’ warning to her dad, but I mean, c’mon. The guy is a genius, he doesn’t waste shit. Y’all should know this by now.

Not to mention there’s so much implication of him being a sweet guy. Eli has unused lines where he talks about finding Alyx in his base house, after the 7 hour way I’m assuming, and she had Azians wedding ring in her hands but she doesn’t remember how she got it, implying G-Man gave her the ring. For what reason I’m not sure, but the idea that he gave it to her as a way to remember her by in the future is a nice thought none-the-less.Also a literal piece of code:

He doesn’t want to lose this girl that he’s seen grow up for years, only for her to die from an explosion or a Hunter. And he wasn’t taking shit from anyone anymore. He had to listen to her father lie about being the one who rescued her for years. Lying to his closest friends, random rebels he’d never met, even his own daughter, not even remotely thankful for saving her life and giving him pieces to remember his wife after she died. He had to deal with a hot-headed Administrator who didn’t even let Earth have a chance to defend themselves. He gave it all away, after what this man worked so hard to do, this asshat of an Administrator just goes ahead and ruins everything. The last hope he has left is the Borealis, Gordon, and Alyx. And I highly doubt after everything he’s done that he’d let the one thing that he probably cares about and wishes to protect, die on him without her even having a proper burial or a heroic ending. He’s practically a second father to her, and he’ll be fucking damned if he let’s anything happen to her. He doesn’t take shit anymore. He will do whatever the fuck it takes.
