Thaumanova Redux?
To my fellow Priory members, and honored members of the Asuran Colleges.
I write this report to you today to express a dire concern in regards to the growing threat that are the ley-line surges plaguing our nations. As many of you may know by now, in addition to the ley-line surges attracting the minions of the Dragons in Snowden Drifts, Mount Maelstrom, and Blazeridge Steppes, new concerns have arisen elsewhere.
In the previously mentioned regions, constant ley-line surges were visible with the naked eye. Occasionally, these surges would flare up attracting the minions of Primordus, Kralkatorrik, and Jormag en masse. Additionally, the magic at these sites would create small conglomerates of magic that would from time to time come together to form massive coalescences of magic.
Within the past few days we have seen an increase in the levels of magic surging and in turn a new level of manifestation. In the Iron Marches, Timberline Falls, and Gendarran Fields, reports have come in detailing massive ley-line constructs. They have been described as humanoid in shape and move at incredible speeds throughout these regions in an attempt to absorb more energy in an attempt to stabilize.
Even on their own, these would be an incredible threat to the settlements in those regions and the lives therein. My concerns stem from a past incident that could show us where conditions are heading. These Anomalies, as they have been detailed in reports, are similar to the Anomaly that manifested at the Thaumanova disaster five years ago.
As many of you doubtlessly know, the Thaumanova disaster was brought on when the Inquest attempted to harness dragon energy. While the energy bursting forth from the ley-lines is raw magic, the threat that it poses is still very real. If the disaster is any indication, it is plausible that we could see a chain reaction along the affected ley-lines with similar effects to that of five years ago. If this should happen, over half of Central Tyria would be destroyed or warped into an unstable mass of raw, wild magic with properties we cannot even begin to fathom.
Despite our differences, despite the looming threats of the remaining Dragons, despite the threats within our own borders; now, more than ever, we need to put band together and work towards finding a way to contain the surging magical energy. If we do nothing, we risk losing our homes and nations to magic itself.
