Magical romance

Today I have some poses to share that I actually did just for my story and didn't really want to publish because I still see enough things I could do differently if I were even better (yes, I know, I practice with every pose and get better all by myself, but the pursuit of perfection is a b*tch that even I sometimes can't escape 😉)

But I was inspired to create these poses (and also the scene for my story in Instagram) by a pose pack from @nefaricussims ; I already did use this one in an older post and mine is, in a way, a continuation of it. When I went back to the original post, I happen to see that she posted them almost exactly a year ago for her Simstaversary. Because I know she would have liked to expand on the poses back then, I decided to wait until it's again her Simstaversary and post mine after all as a gift to celebrate.

So a happy Simstaversary to you, many more of them to come, and here's to a great story 🥳🥳🥳

Regarding the poses themselves: The poses have a slight difference in height. Poses two and three can be mixed together; they only differ in terms of closed/open eyes and mouth. Clipping can occur, especially in poses four and five, depending on the hair style used. I solved this by taking the photo from the right angle, as I wanted the heads to be very close together. In general, the poses are rather tight, and depending on the body type/clothing, further clipping may most likely occur, but every Sim's body is different ❤️

How dare you to ask?

Today I'm sharing a pose pack that I made for my story solely because I had no idea what to look for to find a pose like the last one of this pack 😂😂😂

I still don't know how to call this😆 - but I like the poses that came out of it and thought they might be helpful for others too. It's just a mini set with four couple poses, the idea being that one person teases the other, the other person gets annoyed, which in turn only makes the other person tease more.

That's how I used them in my story, but using the male pose from pose three and a different focus on pose four could maybe end this on an upset note too, I think.

The poses focus on the upper body/conversation, so not much happens below the belt, but they are of course still meaningfully posed. The poses contain a slight height difference, with the tall person teasing and the short person getting annoyed.

I specifically wanted the last pose because of the finger on the chin, but I still left a bit of space when posing to fit as many faces as possible. The pose still makes sense as it is – to make it fit, you can raise/lower one person a bit with Tool. I always find it very difficult to estimate this, so as an additional note: To make the pose from the original appear the same as it does on the last promo picture, I adjusted the height by 0.02 with Tool 🙂

Day 25: 🧜🏻‍♀😶‍🌫️ Hiding

Today I don't have an edit for MerMay, but a pose pack. It's the first one I've ever made, but I've always wanted to learn poses and took the opportunity to choose one of the prompts. Today's prompt is 'hiding,' so there are a few poses for your merfolk to play hide and seek. The pack contains one triple pose, two couple poses, and three single poses. See under the cut for the required objects and more information.

For the poses, you'll need objects from two CC packs, which I generally like to use for my MerEdits; I also used them here for decoration. The coral and the shell are from Natalia Auditore's ocean decor set, which can be found here (Patreon)

The spears I used are also by Natalia Auditore and can be found here (Patreon). I only used the ones shown, but I think any of her spears would work.

The cave is from the 'Sea-nery Stuff' set by SpinningPlumbobs @sp-creates, which can be found here (Patreon)

I haven't tried it, but I think the poses in the shell can also be combined with a pack that @theserenadeofshadows made last year, as it uses the same shell. You can find the Shell-ebrate pack here (Tumblr)

I created the base for these poses with custom rigs to make them as compatible as possible with CC fins; the fluid movements, as seen in the pictures, probably come across better this way because they're bigger than the regular ones. But of course I did check the poses with the standard rig aswell. However, since space is limited for some poses due to the theme, very long or bulky fins may clip. I almost exclusively use fins from @dansimsfantasy

A little Christmas post

Hello everyone! A small Christmas gift from me. I originally made this tattoo in black just for my story, but then later decided to make it into something for everyone.

But this file has been sitting on my PC and on Simsfileshare for ages now because I didn't like the promo pictures I made back then and didn't have the time or leisure to make new ones 😅 Anyway, now I have better ones 😉

Happy Halloween

🎃🐈‍⬛🧙🏻‍♀️🕷️

This October, only one post for Halloween. I didn't have much time, so I focused on getting something finished for today. It's quite a mixed post, and I tried out various things. While taking the screenshots, I also learned how to use Relight, so I really went all in on some pictures 😉

There's no cohesive story this time; only the LotR images at the end have a certain sequence.

A small addition regarding Lord of the Rings: I chose the theme because it's Gavin's favorite book, but it was surprisingly difficult to find CC for it, so please allow me a little artistic freestyle. As for Ethel, for those who don't remember the story so well, the Army of the Dead are oathbreakers condemned to walk as ghosts. By fighting for Aragorn, they ultimately manage to achieve redemption. Women are never mentioned, but I'm sure Ethel would be a great addition to any ghost army 😌 Though probably not on horseback 😂 ; Gameplay Ethel really isn't a very talented rider, as both of the household's horses threw her off before she could even ride 😆😂😂 That's why I just couldn't resist the image of the falling rider 🤭🤭

Day 8: 🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♂️ Family

We already know Dad Areion and Dian. Her little sister Talia takes after Mama Selena, but is also a mermaid. Born to a human mother, she isn't yet able to transform. Nevertheless, Dad takes her to the sea as often as possible to get her used to it.

I actually just wanted to take a family photo of my mer family, who found each other last MerMay; but then it turned out to be more than just one photo 🥹 I left the photos essentially unedited this time.

Day 10: 🧜🏻‍♀️ 💔 Forbidden lovers

Instead of a single edit, today I'm sharing a complete story, inspired by an old German folk song (see details below).

I actually only wanted to include that at first, but it would have been a rather sad story, and I couldn't bring myself to write such a sad entry for MerMay 🥺. Hence the framework with Gareth and Nia

I use characters here that I otherwise use for my storytelling on Instagram, so a brief explanation of the characters: Gareth and Nia are siblings and enjoy spending time together. The characters in the fairy tale are also story characters, but there they aren't merfolk (spellcasters instead 😉)

Background:

The core of the story exists in many European countries, and they probably all have their origins in the Greek myth of Hero and Leander. They each lived on the shores of the Hellespont (Dardanelles). Hero was a priestess, and the two could only see each other in secret. Therefore, Leander swam through the strait every night, guided by a fire that Hero lit for him on a tower. But when a storm extinguished the fire, he drowned, and when Hero learned of this, she threw herself from the tower.

The German adaptation of the story places the action in a (medieval?) courtly setting, and it exists both as a ballad and in a musical setting. This time, the king's daughter lights candles for another king's son, but they are extinguished not by the storm, but by a begrudging nun. The next morning, the king's daughter sneaks out of the castle under a excuse and asks a fisherman to search for her lover. After he finds him dead, she gives the fisherman her jewelry as payment before throwing herself into the waves.
