I've been working on a project to get LGBT+ Ambassadors from Opening Doors London into schools to speak to students. The first school event will take place this Wednesday (my 52nd birthday) at Saint Gabriel's College, London. From Opening Doors: ‘As part of LGBT+ History Month, we have been invited to speak to pupils and staff at St Gabriel’s College. This event was made possible by the support of Shaun Dellenty, formerly a head teacher & author of ‘CELEBRATING DIFFERENCE- A WHOLE SCHOOL APPROACH TO LGBT+ INCLUSION’. Shaun Dellenty says: “Opening Doors London do inspiring work and an event such as this will build upon the fantastic work St Gabriel’s are doing to raise visibility and compassion around LGBT+ inclusion.” Imagine, young LGBT+ people being taught by non-judgemental supportive teachers who are aware of the implications and challenges brought about by the adolescent growing pains of coming to terms with sexuality and gender.
