happy 20th birthday, kang jun!

a year end 2020 starter for @lgcxjun
the end of the year was such an exciting time, in jaesun’s opinion. honestly, he had no idea that they were going to get a chance to perform at the year-end shows. how many trainees got an opportunity to do such a thing? well, were they really even still trainees if they’d had a whole world tour as well? the distinction was tricky indeed.
"junnie,” he nudged the other next to him, hoping he didn’t mind the pet name that accidentally slipped past his lips. “can you imagine that might be us next year? i mean, that we’ll have an actual debuted name and consistent line-up and ...” was it so different from what they had now? maybe not, but at least it might seem more permanent. “they look so cool. do you think we looked that cool too to the audience?”
❥ DETECTIVE WALNUT COOKIE
━━━ searching for clues with @lgcxjun
after the traumatic prank pulled on them by his all-time favorite idol group, jinyoung doesn't think he can ever trust anyone again. of course, he'll forget about it in a few days and go back to being dbsd's biggest fanboy. no real harm done, but a normal (?) halloween party sounds like such a wonderful idea right now. unless they're later attacked by a horde of zombies, which he wouldn't put past them. for the time being, though, he wants to enjoy a fun evening with his best friends. he arrives with jun, joined by the hip as usual. living in the same dorm has its perks after all, but it doesn't help jinyoung with his increasingly uncomfortable and strange feelings for jun.
after discovering the camera and puzzle they have to solve, the boys' can barely contain their excitement. finally something they can excel at. playing detectives is something they've always loved. jinyoung has read all of the detective conan more than once. "we SO got this! ok, let's look for clues!" so far they've been given 'you' which isn't a lot to go by. "we should split up, right? i'll start over there." he points towards the other side of the room. after searching through almost every nook and cranny of his section, jin suddenly comes running back to his friend, smile victorious as he waves a piece of paper. "found one! it says 'what'! looks like it'll form a question... did you find anything?"
His contribution to the family concert had been minuscule when compared to the other trainees, and especially to his siblings. He had been asked to introduced Seoul for the concertgoers, but he wouldn’t know if his video that he shot in Bukchon Hanok Village would be shown in the final cut until the day of the concert. However, his anticipation for the concert had more to do with seeing his siblings shine on stage once again.
He hadn’t seen them in months since their tour had begun. He had to spend his birthday by himself and Chuseok hadn’t been as special as the ones they had spent together in the previous years. He hadn’t known that he would missed them as much as he had during the last two months and a part of him wanted to selfishly keep them by his side.
He was beyond proud that his siblings’ careers were starting off on a high note and he knew that this was only the beginning for them. When his brother’s performance began, he sat on the couch backstage with his arms crossed. A staff had joked that he hadn’t blinked throughout the performance and that he had the demeanor of a manager which made him laugh.
After the performance was done, he stood up to catch his brother in the hallway. He wrapped his arms around the younger boy’s waist, lifting him up in a tight hug. “I couldn’t believe that was you. Where did that confidence come from?” He sets him down gently to not embarrass him further, affectionately squeezing his shoulder. “Are you taller?”

♚ hey stranger
w/ @lgcxjun
he's not at all nervous about weekly idol which they're set to film after knowing brothers. his experience with type zero went fantastically well and he feels confident about today also, though the setting is different it remains essentially the same: promoting their 'unit' while being entertaining and handling whatever the cast throws at them. parts of it are scripted, not the exact words per say, but they have a general gist of what is going to happen, who they will be sitting next to, to avoid any potential mishap while on set. they've always known that it's not just pure improvisation, but since there's always a lot of last minute changes, they can't get too comfortable either.
when king first learned that he would be sitting next to kang jun, his honest reaction was "who?", before he thought about it more deeply. it's both due to his lack of interest towards the trainees he's not already familiar with and due to jun's tendency to vanish and be as barely seen as possible. for that, they're quite the opposite personalities. king has never felt the need to approach people like jun who prefer to stay in their corner and so far they have never had to work together closely. but he doesn't want their sitting together to be too awkward, so as they wait backstage, he approaches him. "hey, kang jun!" king calls for the younger. "you know we'll be sitting together, right?" a beginning that's very straight to the point. “i realize i don’t know anything about you. that’s my bad, i guess? i never asked. nervous?”
╰ variety cage match: 03
After his serious portrayal the past few months on Future Dreams, Seojin wanted to solidify his image as someone fun and self-assured. Mostly fun. He had admittedly grown tired of trying so desperately to hang onto the prickly exterior. Fortunately, his next guest would allow him a little more leeway when it came to making a grand entrance.
From off frame, he put on a voice similar to that of a wrestling announcer. "Iiiit's time for another round of the cage match. Ding ding ding!" He then appeared on set carrying the guest over his shoulder, doing a loud imitation of a wrestling entrance song. When he stopped to turn toward the camera, he began doing squats with the other still in his grasp.
Seojin may have gone a little too far with the dynamics but he knew it was all worth it as long as Jun was also having fun. With their hectic schedules and all the pressure weighing down on them, someone his age deserved to feel like a crazy kid every once in a while.
"In this corner," he was slightly out of breath now. "Host Park Seojin. And in this corner..." Finally, he set the younger trainee down next to him, eyes hopeful that he would have a smile on his face or at least look happy.

prepare for trouble
She was known as the most outgoing out of the two, but she would prefer to do everything with him than alone. She wouldn't say that they were co-dependent on each other. He was her best friend, her partner in crime. If she could debut with her brother, she probably would have jumped on the opportunity instantly, but co-ed groups were rare, and she still enjoyed seeing him grow on his own. She couldn't always be there for him, but she was his biggest fan. She knew when to push him out of his comfort zone, and the MCing Booth was the perfect activity. She hadn't given him much of choice, but she had reassured him with a warm smile and quick squeeze around the palm of his hand.
Three minutes would go by fast or feel like forever, depending on how they did. "Hello, Kang Jina and Kang Jun will be your MCs for the next few minutes. I don't know about you, but I've been waiting for this event the most." She voices in the microphone turning to glance at her brother. "A penalty shoot-out involves strategy and mostly luck. What do you think? Should we cheer each team and wish them luck?”
