lgief rewatch eps. 4-5

okay, this is definitely the final in my little triology of posts here. i shared ep. 4 here and most of ep 5. here but tumblr has a photo limit and i cant speak without my visuals! and i wont make gifs, i want stills. so this is the last big post for ep. 5~

STARTING OFF STRONG WITH THE BEST SCENE. oh, you guys dont even know how many times i replayed this on my FIRST watch. 10 times? 15 times? way more than necessary. whoever directed this deserves every award possible. i mean, COME ON.

she's desperately looking for her dad, in an absolute fire hazard of a costume, and who grabs her to save her? MU SHENG!!! the way he grips her arm and stares so intensely. oh my gosh, i could not believe this was 0%. 0%? HOW IS THIS ZERO PERCENT? and i wont dive much into it here but when i read this post about yaos it made me totally think his 0% has to be much different than what humans would feel at 0%. (my friend also said his measured in celsius instead of fahrenheit.)

"are you out of your mind?" YEAH. SHE IS. logically she should've caught on fire and had to backflip into the river like one of the guards.

going as far as to beg him to help her, even knowing he planned on doing something to get her dad punished for justice, grasping him and pleading, meanwhile hes looking at her like she's crazy.

he looks just as hot as the scene around him... jesus.

and the way he sees how frantic she looks and forcibly turning her around, hands on her shoulders. oh we're in deep, arent we?

i wont include it, but then her saying "why is it full?" and him looking away, i think he had the same question too, but i wonder if he felt weird because even she was questioning it...

sorry, the way he sneaks up here... gosh he has NO bad angles. and then confronts him about why he seems disappointed, ugh, we love a justice-seeking baddie.

moving on to much later, as even though we had some physical contact between the two from here with her stopping him from destroying all of the funds her dad used, i dont know if i have that much to say! i mean, him and fuyi having a tense moment with the crates was symbolic of their relationship, ill mention.

his head tilt... so cute... and miaomiao looks extra adorbs too. i know we compare him to a cat a lot but this was very puppy-like of him.

wiping his hands after burning the fake accounting book and acting like it was nothing when she stares at him. uh huh, sure, it was just for justice, totally.

oh please, her calling him out on being a softie... you got him down already, cause he really is! acting so tough because he suspects her, but lets be real, you cant hate her now that you know her. again, knowing when shes looking, and asking "what are you looking at" as if he doesnt know!!! this whole scene i couldnt help myself but say "tsundere, smh"

and even after saying "this isnt over since you stole my precious sisters snack from me" hes STILL just baaaaarely got a smile on his face... yes, the percentage changes next ep back to negative but... he was already falling here, lets not get it twisted.

would you believe i still hit photo limit? sigh... life as a shipper is so hard. i love these two. i might keep doing this, not because i have any true analysis of anything deep (though i could), but simply because i love how ding yuxi portrays ziqi, and how esther yu portrays miaomiao. they sold it so well, where every expression and movement matters, and you can see the characters (mostly ziqi) changing based off how they react. oh its so good...

lgief rewatch eps. 4-5

ok i posted the first part here which ended up just being all of ep 4, so now this one will be dedicated to ep 5... part one. because i have so much to say and so many screenshots to share!!!

in the last one, i basically gushed over how i like these eps so much because of the festival (and other things but like, come on, festival!!!!) but ep 5 is so good because we finally see ziqi go to 0%!!!!!

i love how fuyi comes in, asks where yao is, makes a comment about ziqi being in a bad mood, and then asks where yao is again LOL. look at that face... hes truly in love with her and has been for who knows how long. also miaomiaos expression and the way she scratches head. god, same.

i did not truly appreciate this scene during my first watch, that i now do for many reasons. the first being is that, we get a mix of yao and sheng's relationship, given how much she scolds him, but she truly cares about him and loves him, and theyre obviously very close and know each others ins and outs (well, mostly, except that her brother is a half-demon but hey, whats that matter, right?) the second is i love how funny she is!! we dont really get to appreciate it i think in comparison to how silly miaomiao is, so when i rewatched this scene i thought it was hysterical, because yao isn't the one making jokes in the series. i love yao.

ok, let's skip to the parts i really care about now.

i took so many screenshots, because the range of emotions on her face here is iconic, going through the stages of grief and then getting in his face, tired of his nonsense. and it's funny because you can tell he had to process it like "yes, i am... but i dont like you at all so im not going to admit that and im going to tell you again to mind your business"

and then she drops this banger that renders him SPEECHLESS.

spoilers here, not that it matters much id say, but i think this was the moment he found her "a bit cute" (as per ep 26.) if it wasn't, then the moment we hear the percentage go to 0% has to be!

after all, how could you NOT find her cute?! also love how he looks over at her!!! i cant with the way he knows when shes staring at him... he gazes at her so much in this episode.

stepping back a second, i say that this could've been because, hello, he made the lanterns act like drones to say peace. (we all agree he did that, right? there's no other way it could've happened, lol.) like, okay, i see you loverboy, mister -250% but still doing something beautiful like that based off a wish SHE had. ugh, smitten.

damn you tumblr photo limit! im not finished... i didnt even get to the way he grabs her in the fire! oh come on, i cant finish here, this is my favorite episode. so ill be making another post, lol.

although it's only my first rewatch, i truly think ep 5 might be my favorite of the series, because a) theyre at a festival, b) the main 4 are having fun at the festival, c) festival things, d) ziqi gets emo, e) ziqi first starts to like miaomiao, f) everyone is happy, g) did i mention the festival?

and because of that, i'm also starting with ep 4 because that's where it begins, so this whole post is just ep 4 lol. im just sharing screenshots of moments i liked in these eps with my silly thoughts. this is going to be so long

before i get into the real festival, firstly, i just want to say i LOVE how we see esther yu as ling miaomiao and lin yu, it's cool to see how lin yu was as a character and how devious she was. in the whole series, i love the hairstyles, but this moment where her hair is in little bows is SO cute and i cant stop thinking about it. also, ziqi looks so hot when he's mad...

this whole scene is so cute. yao prepared so much to impress her new bff lin yu, all shy when she get's praised even though she said she knew she would compliment her. i included the 4th screenshot there to illustrate how fuyi smiles at her (on this rewatch i've come to appreciate their calm and a bit couth relationship) and how ziqi wants to interject but probably doesn't want to interrupt his precious sister. and for someone who wanted nothing to do with this world, miaomiao really knows how to act, covering her face with the fan as she laughs and all.

also not including the part of fuyi saying "you guys look auspicious and festive today" (even thought that part of the two of the men being absolutely clueless about the effort women put in to look good is hilarious) because theres a gifset right here!

and this post about a "live mu sheng reaction" is so funny too.

oh yao, you want to spend time with her so badly...

miaomiao is trying so hard to get fuyi by her side for her plan but yao said "nope, youre my meimei" and steals a romantic trope from a movie by teaching her how to do it, getting super close, touching her face and her hand... if i wasn't a miaoqi truther i'd be so for miaoyao(? yaomiao?)

i know its not exactly because he's fond of miaomiao, but he still laughed because of something she did!!!
