Of all the birds in the world, one would have to question why the King in Yellow would be associated with Peacocks, whose main colors are blues and teals, it's because they're both maddeningly vain creatures that only seem kinda cool until you spend any significant time around them, then they're just obnoxious.
King in Yellow, Peacock king, king of Ichor, ect... Why does he have so many titles with "king" in it? He never seemed very Kingly to me, he's more like... A big bully!
