Little House On The Prairie - Season 2, Ep. 13 (The Talking Machine)
**Laura and Nellie Olsen like the same boy, Jason. But Jason has more in common with Laura, who takes an interest in science. No matter how hard she tries, Jason spends more time with Laura.
Nellie gets an idea when she spots a talking machine (a recorder) that her father bought for her. She pretends to befriend Laura and invites her up to her room. Laura takes the bait and Nellie gets her to talk about her feelings for Jason, while her brother Willie is recording the conversation in the closet.
The next day in class, Nellie brings her talking machine to show and tell. She plays the recording of Laura confessing her feelings for the whole class, including Jason. A horrified Laura runs out completely ashamed.

“Recess was supposed to be the most fun, only Nellie Oleson wouldn’t ever let us play anything but ‘Ring Around a Rosie’. I didn’t want to, but Ma said 'do unto others’. I couldn’t help wondering when Nellie’s Ma would get around to telling her the same thing.”
