S: “I wish we were still living in Brindleton to vote for Brant.” Be: “We know you support us, and that’s enough.” BR: “At least that way when you win you’ll know it’s because the town supports you, not just your friends.” LP: “Just know we’re on your corner, and anything you need, just ask.”

F: “I got it cover. There’s a lot of work as SBI. I just can’t work with my sister, but there’s a lot of work. I’m not staying down while all of this is happening.” S: “We’ve been working for years, and only now we’re seeing results. The Mayor gave so much opposition to SBI for so long. They practically had to force their way in.” J: “And how did they do that?” S: “The governor had to step in. Once she got elected, of course. The previous governor was on the police’s side.” Be: “That’s why we’re hopeful. People want change. The election of the new governor proves that. Since then, things have been moving. Slowly, but they are.”

Be: “Damn, we knew it was bad, but this…” F: “They wanna keep the system in place. It’s a mess. I hear Brindleton’s the same.” J: “Hey, you should work for us. We always need investigators.” Be: “That’s a good idea. Our campaign needs all the help it can get. We’re fighting against some powerful forces.” F: “Sure. I can help out, but I would never charge you for that. I can volunteer.” J: “Really? That would be great. But what will you do for money?”

But thank you for the offer.” S: “I’ll double your salary!” Be: “We both know you can’t afford that.” BR: “She wants to work with her friend. Can’t you give her a chance?” Be: “She doesn’t need me.” S: “You could be a consultant. Help me choose the work we feature.” J: “How’s that going, by the way?” S: “Really good. We’re the only Art Gallery in Willow Creek. Everyone wants us to showcase their work. Which is why I need help choosing.”

LP: “You have been a curator a long time Brent. You’re kind of perfect for the job.” Be: “I’ll think about it. Maybe the consultant thing would work.” F: “Man, I can’t believe your dream came true.” S: “I know, right? I always wanted my own gallery, and here we are. We’ve been open for a couple of months and it’s already paying off.”

The Kids Are Alright

Notes: 1. Just to clarify, this conversation can only be heard by Alex, Brant and Piper. 2. I know I said the Emersons were on hiatus until the end of episode 3 of SNTM, but I was inspired to write again.  3. This scene has been an idea I had for months. This is a typical gathering in my family, and I like to think it’s a regular thing for them too. Meals bring people together.

Ba: “I don’t understand. Didn’t they have a trial 4 years ago?” P: “Yes, and he was convicted. But we’re coming up to 5 years with time served, so he gets an appeal.” A: “Could they let him go?” P: “I don’t know. And honestly, I don’t care.” Ba: “What? Why not?” P: “He can’t touch us. I know this is a different position I had years ago, but I had PTSD. Now I see things clearly. We have a support system. He will stay away even if they let him go. Which they probably won’t.” A: “And London’s birth mother?” P: “Um… no… they didn’t find her.” Ba: “Do you think she might…” P: “She hasn’t been found. That’s it.” A: “Okay. Maybe we should change the subject.”
