Librarians should rule the world.
A little boy and his mom came into the library today . . .
Boy: "Excuse me. Do you know anything about books and comics?"
Me: "In fact, I do. What are you looking for?"
Boy: " Okay. It's a hard one. I'm looking for this one book about this boy and his sister."
Me: "Hmmmmm. Anything else you remember about the book?"
Boy: "Yes. It has magic and wizards, but not really wizards. I think the name of the book starts with the letter A."
Me: "Is it a book or a comic book?"
Boy: "A comic book."
Me: "Is it Amulet?"
Boy: *eyes get wide* "Yes!! That's it!! How did you know?!?!"
Me: "I'm a librarian. Let me show you where the comic is."
This kind of stuff makes my day 😁
Librarian tact:
not making people feel dumb when they tell you they looked for a book! it’s gone! it is missing! and you find it on the shelf exactly where it should be.
I usually tell them it’s “librarian magic” and that it happens to even me, a bona-fidee librarian, all the time.
