A belated Christmas comic.
Charles M. Schulz, born on November 26th, 1922, would have turned 97 today! Well known for his comic strip Peanuts, Schulz is one of the most influential Americans cartoonists. Schulz began drawing at a young age, but put his cartoonist career on hold when he was drafted into World War II. After returning home from the war, Schulz pursued his dream of becoming a cartoonist. His first run, L’il Folks, lasted three years in his local newspaper, the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Peanuts made its debut on October 2nd, 1950, and took off from there. By the time Schulz retired in December 1999, Peanuts had been translated into more than 25 languages and appeared in 2,600 newspapers worldwide. The last original Peanuts comic appeared in the Sunday paper on February 13th, 2000, the day after Schulz's death, confirming his prediction that Peanuts would outlive him. There have been no new Peanuts comics, movies, or storylines created since Schulz’s death, only reissues of Schulz’s work.
This strip comes from the Mary Lois Bull collection, a collection of clippings from newspaper comics related to books and libraries.

Hey Seattle! Tonight I’m going to read a comic in front of a bunch of strangers as part of the Chain Letter reading series. It’s a brand new comic about libraries.
Hope to see you there!
Part 2 of my first mini-comic “Frankenstein And The Floating Pig Learn All About Libraries!”, a not-very-education adventure. Nonetheless almost every fact in it is a fact! Part 2 features a collection of my some of my favorite librarians (from fact and fiction) and some of my favorite special collections! As mentioned on the last page, I started this comic as a project for Corinne Mucha's comic book class at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, IL and finished it in time for it to "debut" (for me to force it on some nice people) at SPX 2013.

Part 1 of my first mini-comic "Frankenstein And The Floating Pig Learn All About Libraries!", a not-very-education adventure. Nonetheless almost every fact in it is a fact! Part 1 features a special appearance by my colleague Librarian Jenn Smith of the School of the Art Institute's Flaxman Library. Part 2 features more librarian cameos and a glimpse of the collection I work with in the Special Collections at the Flaxman!
