scanning a book, but especially an out-of-print, rare book, and uploading it to library genesis is the best feeling ever... and an even greater feeling is publishing your own book and uploading it to library genesis (which I did and am proud of).
librarians and archivists under socialism will perform even greater roles of human emancipation, knowledge creation and preservation because they will be freed from copyrights and intellectual property rights in how they preserve and distribute knowledge.
before some idiot says 'but what about artists and authors losing income!?!?!' yea, you're talking about this through the lens and realities of capitalism, in which artists have to sell their art to survive. socialism and communism aim to meet all the material and cultural needs of their people regardless of class (which will wither away), so that each can be their best selves. artists will not need to survive off of selling art under socialism. they will materially supported by a state that creates material super-abundance and universal material safety for all. it is capitalism that reduces artists to profit off of their labour of art in order to survive. art under socialism will be unprecedented and ever deeper expressions of human consciousness, free from being chained to intellectual property, profit-motive and inaccessibility, paywalls and as a means to earn a bit extra money to support a self structurally reduced to poverty under capitalism.
anyway have a good day. read a book if you can. scan a book if you will. :)
