Z-library alternatives

So z-library is down, which is an absolute tragedy, but for those looking here's a list of alternatives under the cut.

Books

Open Library: this works like an actual library, where there's a waiting list and you can borrow books for x time.

Library Genesis: my personal favourite of the ones in this list, both for entertainment or academic books. Here you can download epubs or other formats, and there's a great ISBN search function.

Sci-Hub: this is for research papers, but you have to type the exact title of what you're looking for.

IT eBooks: books on IT and programming.

Ubooquity: has to be installed to use.

Simon & Schuster: I haven't actually tried this one, but it has a mailing list which you have to sign up to in order to get the books.

eBooks 3000: this doesn't have that many options and there are some pop up ads.

PDF Drive: there's no limits or ads, but it only has PDF formats.

Read Any Book: here you can read books online or download them.

The Eye: sort of an archive with pretty much everything, but you can't search things here, and it's tough to navigate. I think they have audiobooks too.

Audiobooks

Audiobook Bay: here you can download audiobooks.

Booksonic: this is for audiobook streaming, and you have to download the app or install the software on your computer.

Tokybook: this one has many options, and it's easy to navigate.

I know none of these are as good as z-library was, but hopefully they'll do the trick. This could really help people, so pass it on and add if you have more!

In case any of you are interested, Z-L*brary is raising funds until October, so if y'all have something to spare, it would be nice if you could send it their way! Also use their services, they're one of the most prominent organizations advocating constantly for free speech and access to published media out there.

Heads up: zlibrary.se and singlelogin.re are the only legitimate zlibrary domains. Any other domains, especially zlibrary.io and zlibrary.id, are scam sites.

One of them even sent members of the real zlibrary ike me emails repeatedly announcing that "zlibrary" had moved to zlib.id, after which I was asked to re-register. Don't do it. Check with the Reddit community when in doubt. ☠️ safely!

just wanted to share a workaround for the zlibrary ban that is currently working for me:

These are the apps I used.

- use this link to get to zlibrary on the tor browser:

- create account on zlibrary website

- get telegram app and search for @firstlibrarybot and start a conversation with it

- go to the menu on the zlibrary website and click on "⚙️ edit profile". scroll down to "link to telegram bot" and copy the link

- paste the link into the telegram chat to link it to your account

- now when you go to zlibrary there's an option to "send to telegram" and it works

the thing about this z library thing is that I see small authors rejoicing in the fact that ppl can’t steal their books anymore bc they were “losing out on sales” and. this may be immoral to say? but I kinda don’t care
