“The Bookworm” painting by German artist Carl Spitzweg (1808-1885)
Seattle Public Library is doing this awesome program called Books Unbanned that allows teens and young adults (ages 13-26) access to their collection of e-books and e-audiobooks from anywhere in the USA. All you need to do is fill out a simple form and you get their Books Unbanned card. Please share this information far and wide. I know they're not the only ones to have done this, but the more the merrier!
Whenever someone portrays librarians as cranky old ladies who are constantly glaring at and shushing people, I assume that:
1. They’re misogynist.
2. They haven’t set foot in a library since kindergarten or possibly ever in their lives.
Hey Library Kids & Book Lovers, This Knit Vest Pattern Is For You - It's A Borrowing Card! 👉 https://tidd.ly/4fIdLOv - designed by Jennifer Peacock of Pretty Grandpa and would make a perfect gift for the Gen-Xer on your list! 📚❤️🧶
My second favorite reason for donating my books to my local ibrary is when I realize I want to read one of my donated books again, I can just go to my local library and freaking borrow it.

I give my local library lil seasonal linocuts of the library (like the building w snow or flowers) . do u think they mind or should I stop now ive covered 3 seasons . they're v nice I feel like they would say whatever I wanted to check w other librarians
I think that's very charming. If they want you to stop (or if they have some policy against accepting gifts) they will tell you, I'm sure. Of all the strange things people hand us, a seasonal linocut would very much be on the 'pleasant to receive' end of the spectrum. It's not an inappropriately expensive gift, a disconcertingly intimate/personal one, or an edible one (all items I could very well see a library needing to refuse).
And at any rate... I mean... you've done 3 of the seasons you might as well complete the set, right? 4 would be a natural stopping point if you are feeling like it's run its course!
