Pokémon Adventures will always have my heart because, just like the anime, it makes me think about aspects of Pokémon the games don’t even touch on. The idea of Lickylicky swallowing a Protector to defend against “internal” attacks is great! Especially with the context that it loves collecting items.

Diamond learning how to focus a single leaf of Razor Leaf, making it faster at the cost of power, to work around his Torterra’s low speed? So cool

Diamond using Razor Leaf into the wind generated by Uji’s Buizel’s tails to hit all the Galactic Grunts’ Pokémon, then Pearl’s Monferno jumping off of Stealth Rocks to hit them all with Ember? Actually peak

Even how they tie in Pokédex descriptions is neat. Luxray using its X-ray vision to solve the Fuego Ironworks’ conveyor belt puzzle, Munchlax stealing a camera, but having so many berries in its fur that it’s hard to find, Probopass’s Mini-Noses being used to attack at different angles, it’s all so cool

It gives me so many ideas, and it really reinforces how cool different Pokémon can be when given the mediums to use what makes them all unique. Trainers too, for that matter! Pearl having the ability to discern what moves a mon’s about to use helps everyone strategize, and Lady Berlitz’s out of the box thinking has won her at least half of her gym badges.

No shade towards the games, btw. They can’t really highlight the dex entries, ecology, eccentricities of all 1025 mons without giving up something. But that’s why I’m glad we still having things like Pokémon Adventures, the anime, spin-offs, etc. Even Pokopia’s delved into unique personalities and interactions between mons from what I’ve seen. We probably wouldn’t have gotten that if they insisted on every single mon being in the game. (At least, not without a good 30-40% of mons sharing dialogue patterns and interactions with one another)
