I’m not kidding, the lemon as we know it today did not evolve naturally. It was bred from the citron and the bitter orange. Man’s hubris created a sour delight that works well in many things.

This was followed shortly by:

My coworkers response to this was as follows:

Doing stuff with the ADHD for me is like I'm outsourcing critical brain function to lists and notebooks. For every project I need a series of separate lists and notes for 1. Remembering I want to do the thing 2. Figuring out if I need to learn a new thing to do the thing 3. Figuring out where to learn the new things to do the thing 4. Keeping track of places where I can learn the new things 5. Keeping track of what I've learned for the new thing 6. Keeping track of obtaining or digging up materials for the thing 7. Actually starting the new thing 8. Doing the thing enough times in a row to finish the project.

This is an idealized series of lists that would probably solve a lot of problems in my current process, which is: 1. Think of a thing to do 2. Forget immediately 3. Repeat until the thing is placed in the Active Interest Pile 4. Try to do the thing immediately and getting stumped by any number of options OR finding absolute piles of resources and downloading things and signing up for email lists and following blogs and then getting stumped by the sheer amount of information 5. Repeat

Need to remember a thing? List. Need to figure out where to start with a thing? List. Need to finish a thing? List. Need to regularly communicate with friends and family? List. Need to eat food? List. Need to keep track of lists? List.
