Escape Room

They say when God closes a door,

he opens a window.

But it’s more like a hidden trapdoor

concealed beneath an area rug with

a sofa sitting on top and a fat guy

sleeping on the sofa who refuses to

move, and you don’t even know

where the light-switch is, and when

you find it, the bulbs have all been

purposely removed, so you have to

use a flashlight to make your way

through the room and gather clues

like one of those escape-room games

that demand your wits and creativity

and a healthy dash of urgency because

if you don’t get out before the hour,

you lose, and you don’t get a refund.

But like they also say,

God works in mysterious ways.
