Why Lumenok?
by Jeana M Mitchell
Last week at the Columbus, Ohio Field and Stream expo several people asked this very question. They wanted to know what the benefits of shooting Lumenok were over other brands or just the benefits of lighted nocks in general. The answer is simple.
I began by asking them if they shot lighted nocks now, if they did not, I asked why? Answers were various, but most felt comfortable with their shot placement and did not think they needed them. My next question was to ask if they had ever lost an arrow or an animal they had shot because they could not find the arrow or because they had second guessed their shot placement. I was surprised at the number who told me yes, when just a few moments earlier they were comfortable with shot placement. I explained how Lumenok took the guess work out of shot placement, from the moment the string, hit with 22-40 lbs. of pressure, and your arrow leaves the bow it is lit and you are able to trace it all the way to your target, whether that be a a block, or an animal. No more second guessing. No more waiting in the stand because you think you may have hit too far back. With Lumenok you have a point of reference and the guess work is gone.
The next question I was asked most was how do I install them, and what tools do were needed? This is simple, if you have fingers you can install Lumenoks. There are no moving parts, nothing to twist or turn on or off. You simply line your index up with the cock feather and push into the shaft of your arrow. You DO NOT want to twist and turn as there are contacts which wrap around the battery and twisting will cause those contacts to break and your connection will be lost. To turn the Lumenok off you simply back it out 1/64 of an inch by wriggling it straight out. If you are like me and no longer have strength and dexterity in your fingers Lumenok has you covered with a Lumenok extinguisher/arrow puller. This is a tool which can be easily stored on the shaft of your arrow until needed, it has a slit in one side, when needed remove from the shaft of your arrow, slide to the fletching hold at the nock and give a slight shake, this will allow the Lumenok to back out the proper amount and extinguish.
As you can see Lumenok is not like most nocks, and there is another reason, we are not universal, meaning one size does not fit all. Each nock is made for a specific arrow shaft/ID. This is important so your nock is not falling out or does not fit too tight on your arrow, or get left behind on your string. Lumenok carries nocks for both compound and crossbow, and with the crossbow both crested and flat. There are several ways to find the right fit for your arrows. If you have access to the web you may do so by looking up www.lumenok.com and proceeding to the fitment guide, if you do not you may call 309-358-1602 and request a catalog which has a fitment guide or ask for help from one of the great staff we have working in the office. You may also contact a staff member on Facebook or Instagram and they will be happy to walk you through the process.
Cost is also a factor that influences most buyers. With the cost of most things today, no one has money to just throw away, and Lumenok has taken that into consideration. Worried about the cost, don’t be!!!! Lumenoks have a buitd in money saver. Most nocks require that once they burn out you must purchase new ones, throwing money away; Not Lumenok!! WE want to save you money, with a continuous burn time of approx. 40 hours, your Lumenoks have a replaceable battery, so once they have burnt out, simply buy replacement batteries and keep the nocks.Replacement batteries have a shelf life of 4-5 years.
So instead of asking why Lumenok? ask Why not?
Shoot and hunt smarter, not harder?
